CH 5 Late Nights

CH 5 Late Nights

I grab the note and toss it into the trash bin near the door. As I enter the room the scarf that is attached to the cat head loosens up. To prevent me from taking off the suit during my work the suit only loosens and opens once I re-enter my room to end the day. The guard says that I can’t take the cat head off outside the room, the scarf around my neck will just continue to tighten around my neck until my head blows up like a tube of rolled-up toothpaste.

I begin taking off the jumpsuit halfway and make it to the restroom. That unknown feeling still lingered within me but my exhausted tired body far outweighed the urgency of my emotions. I brush my teeth and make my way back to my bed. I turn off all my lights except the desk lamp. My jumpsuit still worn as the top half lay limp around my waist I collapse onto my bed. My mind and body instantly begin to unwind and as if nothing had happened that day.

I open my eyes briefly and take in the scenery of my room. My eyes become fixated on the note I had recently tossed into the trash as the shadow on the edge of the bin moves. The sound of footsteps resonates in my room. The sound is slow rhythmic and forceful. I can hear the sound of metal scraping across the floor as it makes its way around my room. No not just around my room it is making its way towards me!

I soon come to the realization and try to react, but I am unable to move. My eyes dart to the corners of my vision trying to get a glimpse at what is currently in my room. As the entity puts pressure on my bed I begin to hear a slow haunting creak. I sink deeper into the mattress as it gives way to its massive weight. I try to scream and yell for help but every single muscle in my body refuses to cooperate.

The light around me disappears as I feel its presence looming over me. It presses its weight on my right shoulder at the same time pressing up against my chest. My panic subsides as my body gets hit with a sudden feeling that I wasn’t expecting. I had a strange sense of nostalgia, I had felt this before. I had experienced this once and it had given me a sense of security. I felt heat hitting the side of my face, the heat of someone’s breath.

My finger twitches and I begin to slowly regain control of my body. I quickly turn to meet eyes with this strangely comforting entity.

“AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

My ears vibrate and rattle as the otherworldly screech enters my ears at point blank. Whatever was pressing on my chest shoots up to my neck wrapping around it. It doesn’t stop there however as it lifts my entire body up and smashes it into the wall. My neck bends at a perfect right angle as my legs smash into the front of my face. My entire torso passing through my legs as the shear force crumples me against the wall.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“GUUUUUUUUGH!!! Huh… huh.. huh.”

I shoot up from my bed. My heart is racing as I scan the room for the presence I had felt earlier. I check my body to find it unscathed. Another nightmare, this would be the second one this week. My breathing is ragged as I look at my hands, they are trembling. I am soaked and covered in my own sweat. I hug my chest as I look at the clock. I had only been asleep for an hour. I don’t know how to feel as I had witnessed my own death. It may not have been real, but it felt real. I wonder if these dreams are visions of things to be or if it’s just my inner thoughts telling me what it thinks. I wonder if I really hate myself.

I sit there basking in my thoughts, occasionally scanning the room in the off chance that whatever I saw in my dream ever decided to pay me a visit. I have been dealing with this stuff all my life so I already know I am not gonna go back to sleep for the next couple of hours. I begin to replay the events of my dream through my head over and over as its still fresh in my head. I keep thinking about the angle at which it all happened staring at the trash bin near my door. The same trash bin I had tossed that note into.

A thought crept up in my head. It began to marinate. I discussed it with myself. Ran some pros and cons. Until I finally decided as I stood up. I made my way to the trash bin, pick it up the note and read it once more.

“Bloody mary, say my name 3 times in the mirror for some fun :D”

I sigh to myself as I look at my mirror. Nothing better to do I guess; I won’t be able to sleep for the next couple of hours because of that nightmare, and who knows, maybe this little gag will make me forget about that dream and make me feel better. I make my way to the mirror. I gaze at the note one more time. I swallow my spit and gather my breath. I look myself in the mirror one more time, as I do the thought of turning back and forgetting about this enters my mind.

The sudden realization rushes over me on how much I don’t want to do this. I mean for crying out loud this whole situation screams sketchy. A random note written by that weird girl that avoids eye contact. For all I know she could be a voodoo witch doctor or some crap who is trying to put a curse on me or she’s doing this on purpose because she knows what will happen if you say this kind of incantation in the mirror. The teachers always told us not to play with the arcane as people have gotten themselves trapped in different planes of existences. Places where it’s just like our world but things are slightly different and only 2 things exist on that plane, you and something else that is most likely not friendly!

“BLOODY MARY BLOODY MARY BLOODY MARY!!!”

I yell at the top of my lungs, clenching the note and squeezing my eyes shut. As I stand there curled up clenching my note like it will save me, the usual white noise of my room fills my ears. I peek one eye open as I scan around me and notice nothing out of the ordinary. I scan my body in the mirror to see if it was some kind of spell to make me look different. I was looking at my face before my eyes fixated on something in my room.

A black figure stood at my door and it appeared to be looking at me through the mirror.
