CH 11 Letting sleeping dogs lie

Where am I, what am I, and how am I. Many thoughts barraged my mind as a I tried to make heads or tails of the situation. As if I was going in order I began to wiggle and move individual body parts of mine, but despite my best efforts to move them I could not seem to get them to move an inch. As if I wore frozen in time, yet I could still feel them. My muscles twitching and pulsating trying to get any movement out of them, I was paralyzed.

My eyes begin to dart around, and I am met with an air of familiarity. I am in a room sat on my back. It wasn’t just any room, it was my room. Continuously trying to regain control of my body I dart my eyes around my room trying to figure out what could be holding me in this state until I cease my efforts. My movements halted when my eyes meet with a dark figure stood at the foot of my bed. A sense of dread surges through my body as I try to find logic and reason for a dark silhouette to be stood there.

My body goes cold as sweat begins to coat my skin as my heart begins to race and beat ever faster. For I knew there was not any logical reason for this figure, to be there. I knew my room well and there was never anything of that size, of that shape of that stature in my room. Desperately trying to make light of the situation I helplessly latched on to the idea it could be Mary watching me. I call out to her.

“…”

I utter the words and yet my lips do not part and echoes no sound.

“…”

“!!!”

My body once again on a frenzy desperately trying to move, desperately trying to make a sound. MARY MARY PLEASE IF THAT’S YOU SAY SOMETHING MARY PLEASE! My eyes begin darting as my efforts become focused on getting a single muscle to get the strength to let me move an inch. When once again I halt my efforts, only briefly when I feel the weight of something pressing down on my leg. My eyes once again peer at the figure of the bed and once I did, I don’t think I would ever shift my gaze again.

The figure slowly began lurching over and crawling on to my bed. Another weight is pressed onto my other leg as the figure began to inch ever closer to my head. More and more weight began to press on my body moving from my legs up onto my waist. Despite the immense pressure on my body the figure itself seem to move as if it was weightless through the air. Multiple points of pressure made its way up onto my body as there were multiple appendages bracing themselves over my body.

Its entire weight pressed on the entirety of my body as it stopped inches from my face. I am unable to make out any features on the things face, all of it was shrouded in darkness. I can barely make out the individual hairs protruding from its main mass, undulating as if each follicle had a mind of its own. My mind was on full panic mode as I screamed within my mind to try and fight back but once again, I am only able to move my eyes and even that wouldn’t move as I didn’t want to lose track of what this thing was doing.

My thoughts interrupted by the otherworldly sound of blaring sound of banging and screaming. As if a hundred souls were trying to make their way into my room. I stare at the door as it begins to shake and rock violently with the sounds of wailing banging. I feel another weight make its way onto my body, but this time around my breath. It grows tighter and tighter as it pushes my head into my bed turning me away from it.

BWAAAAM BWAAAAM BWAAAAM

My ears ringing from the deafening sound coming from whatever had its grasp around my neck. Its weight begins to push me deeper and deeper into the cushion, I can no longer see the thing as my head is turned to the side.

BWAAAAM BWAAAAM BWAAAAM

My mind slowly begins to lose the will to try and fight it. I can’t move and my mind is growing tired. My vision begins to narrow.

The sounds of the creature and beaten door assaults my ears. I’ve lost all will to fight as I feel my body convulsing.

My fingers begin to twitch, and they begin opening and closing.

I can feel my arm acting on its own, as it wiggles its way from the things grasp and begins to desperately claw at the things grasp on my neck.

BWAAAAM BWAAAAM BWAAAAM

I feel multiple elongated appendages wrapped around my neck, as if a tree had sprouted its roots around my neck and decided that what was wrapped around it was impeding its growth.

My hand makes every effort in the world to fight, my mind can do nothing but support its efforts as it struggles to remain conscious. My mind had given up, but my body still fights.

“Can you change?”

A question rings out, as my hand can ever so slightly release the grip on my neck and I am able to turn and face the creature that is attempting to murder me.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAGH!!!!

Before I could even catch a glimpse of the creature again, I am instantly sent crashing into the wall that the bed had been resting next to. My neck immediately snaps from the shear violence of speed and as my head crashes into the wall it meets the back of my lower spine. My legs throw themselves into view and my vision goes dark.

“…”

Where am I, what am I, and how am I. I am once again asking myself these questions as my mind racks to make heads or tails about what the heck just happened moments ago. My body is met with a familiar sensation of having been sat on my back looking up. However, this time my body listens to my every command. My hands are lifted into my vision, and I watch them open and close, I thank their efforts as they fought to the end to save me.

The sound of an alarm continues to wail as I sit up and am met with a scene of complete chaos. All the guards are rolling on the ground screaming, clawing at the ground some even slamming their head on the ground. The ones that are not screaming their head off are running through the halls shouting commands, one of them points at me and orders me to come to him but he is immediately silenced as a dark figure pulls him in from around the corner. All I hear is a brief shriek and then nothing.

“ALERT ALERT ALERT, MAX LEVEL THREAT PERSONNEL CODENAMED BOOGEYMAN HAS BREACHED CONTAINMENT. ALL GUARDS ARE TO REPORT AND SECURE THE SUBJECT IMMEDIATELY!”

The alarm briefly stops and is interrupted by the sound of a woman calling out to all the guards over what I could only imagine was an intercom. I stare at the sky as if expecting to find someone there voicing this announcement. After it was finished, I brought my gaze back to the corner where the dark figure had stopped a guard hollering and am met with the figure staring at me. A wave of familiarity overcame me, and it wasn’t a welcome one. I immediately pull myself upright but before I fully commit to standing, I see Mary. It was only then did I realize that she had been dragging me out of the courtyard.

Her eyes were open, yet I don’t think they had anything in focus, like she was looking past everything in front of her. Her face showed no emotion as her jaw hung slightly agape. MARY! I call out to her in my mind as I continue to stand myself up but I slip and fall flat on my face. MARY! MARY ARE YOU OKAY! I begin to shout as I pick myself up from the floor. She drags me fully into a hallway of the building, she had drug me fair a distance from where I was in the courtyard. Still drunk from my sudden awakening I quickly try to get my bearings as I look over my shoulder into the courtyard and notice the dark figure had started gaining distance towards us. MARY! MARY!? MARY WAKE UP! Stumbling a couple more times and finally managing to stand myself I shout this in desperation at the sight of my dream apparition come to enact the contents of my dream. I knew it, my dreams are visions.

She continues to show no emotion and doesn’t react at all to me calling out to her. I grab onto her shoulders and shout. MARY! MARY WE HAVE TO GO! I look back at the figure and once again the distance yet even smaller between us. LIKE NOW! I shout this as I shake her violently by the shoulders. She stares at me emotionless as her grip remains around my shoulder still slowly walking backwards. I look over my shoulder once again and I see the figure more clearly now. The thing was tall and humanoid, its limbs longer than those I’ve seen on the guards and angel. It was in a suit and vest with well-tailored pants, the lighting in room made it obscure but it looked to be a dark brown kind of color, mixed with a dark red like fluid caked on it that I could only imagine used to be that previous guard. Its hair formed like two mounds on his head that drape down into a scruff that met its shoulders. Its face formed an insidious grin.

“I fooooound you~”
