Chapter 12 Learning to Unleash One's Own Magic

"Although you can now learn magic.

'Activate my inherent talent,' Gul's eyes sparkled. Is this a golden finger? His golden finger was about to manifest. Although it seemed a bit delayed, appearing only after such a long time, Gul was still overjoyed.

As for the contract with The Little Evil God, which slightly enhanced his recovery ability, that hardly counted as a golden finger. At least, from Gul's perspective, it was far from one.

A demon as useless as this, whose only enhancement was a slight increase in recovery, couldn't possibly be considered a golden finger.

'Master Ancient One, what should I do? How can I activate my talent?' Gul eagerly asked.

The Ancient One smiled faintly, folded the fan in his hand, and pointed at Gul's forehead. Instantly, Gul felt his body lighten, as if he had escaped the pull of gravity.

Well, this was the second time, and Gul remembered it vividly. He knew his soul had once again been drawn out of his body by the Ancient One.

Gul saw the Ancient One smiling at his soul, nodding as if satisfied. Then, Gul noticed a change in his soul.

The last time his soul left his body, it retained the appearance it had before his transmigration. But now, Gul found his soul had taken the form of his current body, that of a thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy.

'This...' Gul was stunned.

'I told you, once you dispel your obsession, you will become one with your current body, and no one will detect anything unusual about you. Now, you are Gul, and Gul is you. You are no longer an outsider,' the Ancient One said with a smile.

'Uh, oh, so now I'm no longer an illegal immigrant but a citizen with a green card?'

'A very apt metaphor. Exactly so,' the Ancient One nodded.

'So, what is my talent? How do I activate it?' Gul, though relieved, was more curious and expectant, hoping his talent would be activated. He wished for an extraordinarily powerful one, making him a super-strong entity, perhaps not quite on par with Thanos, but at least as strong as several Captain Americas. Poor Captain America was once again used as a unit of measurement.

'It's already activated, isn't it?' The Ancient One nonchalantly sent Gul's soul back into his body and spoke to him.

'Uh, why do I not feel any different?' Gul shook his body, twisted his shoulders, and frowned, unable to sense any change.

'Haven't you noticed your thoughts are quicker, your mind sharper, and your control over your body more precise?' the Ancient One said with a smile.

'Huh? Is that so?' Gul looked bewildered.

'Of course. Close your eyes and sense it carefully,' the Ancient One nodded.

Following the Ancient One's instruction, Gul closed his eyes, striving to perceive what the Ancient One described.

Meanwhile, the Ancient One's finger touched Gul's forehead again. 'First, sense your brain, feel your thoughts. You will find some lost memories returning to you.'

Listening to the Ancient One, Gul found his memories indeed resurfacing, including those he had forgotten. Memories from both this body and his pre-transmigration life emerged, such as the last time he wet the bed, his first nocturnal emission, the first girl who made his heart flutter, her every move, her attire—all these forgotten memories reappeared.

Gul also discovered his mind seemed incredibly agile, like a once-rusty machine now well-oiled.

'Sense your body. You can perceive every part of it—each muscle, bone, and blood vessel. You will find your control over your body has reached a near-perfect state.'

Listening to the Ancient One, Gul realized he could indeed sense every part of his body clearly. Though he could previously make his body move as he willed, it was merely a matter of instinct, like walking, running, and jumping.

But now, Gul noticed the detailed workings of his muscles and bones as they moved.

It was a wondrous feeling, as if only now did his body truly belong to him. Before, he had merely been a tenant in it.

'This feeling, it’s so marvelous,' Gul opened his eyes, a smile of indescribable joy on his face. But the first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was a pair of curious eyes.

They were bright blue, clear as a baby's, filled with curiosity and a hint of smugness.

'Die, Gul!' The Little Evil God shouted, wielding a baseball bat and swinging it fiercely at Gul.

Despite everything, The Little Evil God had not abandoned the idea of killing Gul. Although there had been many opportunities, such as when Gul was asleep at night, she had never acted.

Seeing The Little Evil God attack with the baseball bat, Gul instinctively reached out and, with a peculiar technique, snatched the bat from her hands, like seizing a blade with bare hands. Under The Little Evil God's astonished gaze, he held the bat in his hands.

'Uh, I was just joking, just joking, haha, playing with you. I definitely didn't plan to kill you with this bat while you weren't looking. Absolutely not,' The Little Evil God laughed awkwardly, even somewhat ingratiatingly.

'Really?'

'Yes, absolutely.'

'I don't believe you,' Gul said, bringing the bat down on The Little Evil God's head with a solid thud, knocking her to the ground.

The strike felt incredibly satisfying and smooth to Gul. He was sure his strength had doubled.

It was as if his usual strength of one could only exert 0.6 or 0.7, but now, the same strength could exert 1.2 to 1.4, or even more if he tried, potentially reaching a strength of two or beyond."
