Chapter 3 - First day of school (part 1)

The next two years past by quickly for Yue and mostly merged together. For the first year Yue would exercise, go shopping with her mother, and read in the day, then at night she would practice her magic and meditate so that she would hopefully one day be able to create a hiding magic spell before she became ten.

When she was four she had learned what her father did for work. He turned out to be a blacksmith enchanter. It seems her father’s family has been blacksmiths that enchant their own works for generations, which was why he was depressed that his son would become a mage instead of being the heir to the family’s techniques.  But that was not all what her father crafted.  It seemed that sometimes Yue father’s family bloodline would produce extremely talented crafters and her father was one. Brian was a master rank in Blacksmith, Alchemy, Tailoring, and Enchantment. Of course he might have been a higher rank if he just focused on one craft. When Yue watched her father craft however she was enchanted. For the first time in 27 years Yue felt the same level of passion as reading if not greater. From then on Yue spent most of the day watching her father work since he refused to teach her until she was ten. This was in case she like her brother ended up becoming a mage. At night she would practice her magic, and this routine continued until she turned five years old.

Five year old Yue held her mother’s hand nervously as they stood in front of a small single room building. It was the school of the village where all children from age’s five to seven learned what is deemed necessary knowledge for commoners. The reasons children only went to school for two years were that as commoners there wasn’t too much that they needed to learn and most families wanted their children to start helping with the fields, shops, chores, etc. It was only one room because as an off shoot of elves it was difficult for the females to get pregnant although not as difficult as elves. So there were never a lot of children in the village between 5 and 7 at the same time.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Go on, you will be fine,” Grace encouraged her daughter.

Yue forced herself to let go of her mother’s hand. She wasn’t nervous about the material but rather she knew this was the chance at making a friend. Ever since she was reborn Yue had no contact with the other children in the village. She spent all her time at home since she was four and before then she only shopped early in the morning with her mother a time when the other kids were still inside sleeping or getting ready for the day.

Grace smiled at her normally calm child then headed back home.

Yue took a deep shaky breath and walked in the building. Inside was very little, a magic board which the teacher could write on, and ten chairs in two rows of five. In the corner of the room was a desk with a woman sitting behind it. There were no other students, but that wasn’t surprising as Yue arrived early so that she would not have to make an entrance in front of the other children.

The teacher looked up at the sound of the door closing. She had short blond hair cut just after her earlobes and a pixie shaped face. Green eyes matching the modest dress she wore. But there was something about her that seemed out of place but Yue couldn’t figure out what.

Smiling at Yue the teacher introduced herself. “Hello welcome to my class. My name is Bella Tiner, why don’t you take a seat until your fellow classmates arrive.”

Yue nodded at Bella and took a seat in the center of the back row. Glancing back at her teacher, Yue tried to figure out what was bugging her when it came to her.

“YOU’RE HUMAN!” Yue blurted out, then blushed at her rude comment. “Sorry.”

Bella let out a giggle at Yue’s outburst. “Yes I am, don’t apologize for speaking the truth.”

After letting out that comment, Yue decided to stay quiet as to not to embarrass herself further.  Within ten minutes four more students arrived, one was a red headed girl looking close to seven she had a cold attitude of don’t talk to me. Two boys who were identical, brown short hair and also looked seven years old. And a girl that had purple pigtails and kept her head down and quickly sat in the front row. Around

Fifteen minutes after Yue first arrived and two minutes before class started the sounds of horses and a carriage appeared. Then a young boy who looked about the same age as Yue walked in. He had gray hair reaching the tips of his shoulders coupled with intelligent blue eyes. But what was most surprising were his clothes which screamed noble. Each person save the teacher immediately had the same thought, ‘What is a noble doing here!’
