I woke up surrounded by a numerous amount of different colored lights, though there were mostly only white lights.

I blinked a couple of times before looking around. Across from me stood a man with red hair and blue eyes, who was playfully smiling as he stared straight at me.

“Welcome to my realm.” said the man in a friendly tone.

“W-Who are you?” I asked carefully.

“Why, God of course” he responded playfully.

“God? But-” I tried to respond before getting cut off.

“Before you say something like “What are you talking about”, or some other stereotypical line, I will send you away right now” he replied in a suddenly serious tone.

I decided to shut my mouth and keep it closed. It wasn’t worth trying to test him, I know better than to test someone, especially when they are in control of the situation.

“Now, tell me, what is the last thing you remember?” he said while playing with some sort of toy.

I thought slowly back to my last memories. My head started to hurt as I tried. I finally reached the last thing I could remember.

“The last thing I remember was… walking through downtown, from my job… and then…” I replied slowly, unable to finish the memory.

“What happened?” I asked still trying to remember.

“You died” responded nonchalantly the man who proclaimed himself God.

“What?! How?”

“You were shot, you were in the way of the killers target, therefore causing you to get killed instead.”

I sat down for a second. It was too much to take in, I died? But then that would mean this really might be God.

“Don’t worry, your death was not in vain, the young man who was the target of the shooting lived, and because of your death he will one day do great things.”

“How would you know though?” I asked him, still feeling conflicted

“Well, I’m God of course, I can see the future if I want, but I try not to so it can be a surprise. Regardless, because of your death, I am giving you a chance to be reborn. If you choose to accept, you will be born as the Demon Empress in another world, which I also created.”

“Demon Empress? But why give me such an important role, and one that is considered evil as well?”

“Well that’s the thing. You are a person that likes to have nothing but moderation and balance in your life, correct?”

“Y-yeah…”

“Well, I am considered to be the good side of everything, but because of balance and order, you must be the evil to oppose me. However, don’t think of it as being evil, think of it as the entity that balances everything out. Think of it like this, good can be evil, but evil can also be good.”

“I get it now…” I said nodding my head

“But I’m not finished yet. Since I am a lone deity of high power, I am unable to directly interfere with mortal struggles, I get bored on this plane of existence. That is where you come in, if you are able to survive in your new life for 500 years, I will allow you to ascend to godhood.”

“M-m-me?!” I responded in a scatterbrained manner.

“Why me? I’m just an average human, there’s nothing special about me.” I said, in a calmer fashion.

“Well, you are one of the few beings that truly understand balance, plus I would find it amusing, seeing as I need someone to talk to, it isn’t as great as you think to be a God.”

I thought about it for a moment. This is was a one in a lifetime, maybe in existence opportunity, wouldn’t it be wrong to decline?

“Is there any catch to this?” I asked him carefully.

“Oho, this one’s a smart one.” he said laughing and smiling.

“Yeah, there are two actually, One: I will allow you to chose one form of a divine blessing from me. Two: At some point, there may or may not be someone reincarnated from earth who will become a hero and most likely try to slay you some time during your lifetime.”

I thought about what he said carefully, as they were two very important factors to my next life. It took a while before I actually responded.

“I would like to make a special request from you ,God” I said nervously with a challenging smile.

He raised his eyebrows, then began to laugh.

“Wow, you are really something. Bold, I like it, I accept. What is this request of yours?” he replied curiously.

“I would like to ask a question first, do any of the species on this new planet evolve as they grow?”

“Actually, as a matter of fact, yes, some do.”

“Ok then, could you possibly give me some pencil and paper? My request is that I am able to create my own new body, that includes skills as well. In addition, I would like to request my divine blessing be to have half the power of you, like half of your lifespan, magic, strength, etc.” I said nervously, thinking I might be asking for too much.

He stared at me for a while before finally blinking slowly.

“You know what…” he replied slowly with a smile, “Hell, why not.”

I let out a deep breath that I had been nervously holding.

“That’s great, would you mind giving me an hour to think? I’m sure an hour is nothing to you.”

“Sure”

With that said, I left off into the direction behind me, and began writing.

I returned a little before the hour was up. I had finished all of the appropriate  requirements my next body needed. I then handed them to God.

“I’m ready”

“Ok then, then I wish you luck in your next life, Demon Empress Siamara, I expect great things from you.” he replied while looking over my list.

I began to shine, and then slowly dissolve into light particles.

Before I completely dissolve, I hear God say one last thing.

“Be careful, you aren’t the only person to have been reborn into this world.”

And just like that, I was gone.
