Chapter 4:
It took Jung only 2 months to grasp the knowledge of words, and those nights his mom was teaching him were some of the best times of his young memory. He didn’t even mind the nightly electric shock that hit him as he failed to do his missions.
Then one day, he just stared at the new daily quest he identified because of the distinctive chime it created, and as he blinked in surprise, Jung Hee realized that he understood what the message meant. He sat up from his bed quickly.
Daily Quest:
Read an entire book before the end of the day.
Reward: 25-50 XP
Failure to complete: Mild Electric shock
Jung stared at the screen, wide eyed. For days now, Jung had been consciously trying to practice his reading skills because he desperately wanted to see if he could comprehend the quest offered to him. Luckily, the small booklet manual he’d been practicing was almost completely read, and he has only the final chapter to finish.
So he did just that. Looking around the kitchen, he found and grabbed the propaganda booklet in the nearby table and He promptly read the last few pages as well as the back cover, just to be sure. The booklet is available in town for anyone to get so they have a few in the house and his mom conveniently used it to help him learn his Korean alphabets.
A rare message suddenly pops up in front of him. And it put a smile on his face.
Congratulations!
You have completed your current daily quest!
You received 25XP
He noticed a tingling sensation as white glowing light sort of evaporated around him. He almost cringed in anticipation of a zap, but it didn’t feel anything. Actually, it felt great. He checked his current XP and indeed the 25XP points were added to his numbers.

“Yataah!!” Jung said, pumping his little fist and chubby arm in the air. Finally, no more electric punishment! Mwahahahah!
So for the next several days, he attacked the quest with vengeance. The physical stuff is hard, but it only took some stubborn persistence, and eventually he overcame them all. Mental challenges were simply too easy for Jung the moment he learned how to read. If there are things he doesn’t know, he quickly learns how to ask the adults in his life for assistance without them being suspicious.
So his streak of completed quests continued until one day, a new pop-up caught him by surprise.
Congratulations!

He remembered frowning at the time and thinking, “Eh?” Jung unconsciously turned his head sideways like a cute puppy as he scratched the small patch of black hair on top of his head in confusion.
Although Jung still didn't understand what XP and skill points were, he was familiar with them because he'd been getting them for years. The Evolution Point, on the other hand, was something new.
Almost instinctively, Jung called for his status screen and frowned. Something was new on the message screen but he couldn’t decipher it immediately. All the normal info was there, his name, his level, his age... AH! There we go.
Jung had been staring at that screen all his life and knew it by heart. Besides the level and age, most of the information on that screen never changes. Until now. The change that bothered him turned out to be the “plus” signs stationed next to the 3 main attributes categories. There was no explanation about those three attributes for years, but now suddenly they can be highlighted and a new window appears about them. He chose one of them at random.
Body:
One of the primary attributes that deal with all forms of the physical evolution of humanity.
The other two have basically the same information. The MIND attribute has something to do with mental evolution, while the SPIRIT attribute has something to do with the essence evolution of humanity, whatever that means.
Then it dawned on him that the evolution point could be used to improve the main attributes, which were all zero at the time. The only challenge now is where he should place that single evolution point among the three possibilities.
Jung hee shrugged. There were no real profound thoughts in his reasoning. He just felt that he wanted to be smarter and the one that might give him some help with that is the MIND attribute. So, without further thought, he placed the single evolution point in MIND and clicked “Y” when the system asked if he is sure about it.
He was lucky he was already sitting in his own bed when a surge of...something went right through his brain, and then when his eyes rolled on top of his skull, he promptly fell unconscious.
