So after further research and exploration of the world’s literature, I have managed to summaries the four major types of magic in this world. But first that requires me to define something. What is magic? Although there are varying definitions, I have chosen to define magic as a changing phenomenon or phenomena that requires the manipulation of mana along with other inputs to create a desired effect.
There are four different major magic systems. Of course there are a multitude of arcane and mysterious magic systems created, as well as mixed combinations, but for the sake of today’s discussion, I will only be talking about the four most widely acknowledge systems. This world, Myristic, has advanced incredibly in the field of magic, comparable to the science of Earth. No, although I hate to admit it, but if you include the hidden experts and researches, or even supreme evil organizations, probably advanced even more. I haven’t been able to safely contact anyone of that level, but from the rumors circulating, it is easy to make some rough estimates and conclusions. I have also noticed that magical technology is especially advanced in countries that integrate multiple systems into their teaching and society, and also tend to be wealthier. Countries that follow single disciplines tend to be the smaller countries, especially “pop up countries” –countries that pop up during periods of conflict and last less then fifty years…oh and I’ve derailed. 1*
Ignoring my awe, the four major systems are as follows, Ba, Ra, Ci and Wi magic. I know, they sound funny. I believe the reason the names have become so short is due to the different languages all using the same or similar pronunciation and to convey easily across different languages. It is also my personal conjecture, and although I lack any evidence whatsoever, based on Earth’s history, I conclude that the names were originally longer only starting with that sound, but shortened for convenience.
Below I have transcribed a textbook definition of each magic type.
Bæ Magic- Also known as bloodline magic, it uses inheritance and often requires one to be descendant of a certain race or god. The heritage and amount of power unlocked from bloodline is often served as a measure of one’s natural talent. Has a strong relation to many beastly types of magic.
Rå Magic- The eastern magic that focuses on absorbing and releasing mana to create different phenomena. Power is often measured by a variety of things including the amount of storable mana, recovery rate, control and efficiency in creation. Typically an interference branch of magic.

Cï Magic- Magic that focuses on storing and collecting mana and converting that into storable energy, dubbed by students of this magic as qi or life force. Focuses on balance as well as the amount of raw strength executable/exert-able by the body. Associated heavily with most self-enhancement, fortification and strengthening of body magics.
Wî Magic- Magic that does not enter the body, instead manifestation occurs entirely outside. Magic often requires sacrifice and the drawing of magic circles. Luck and omens are often in popular belief by practitioners and also often involve grimoires. Typically considered the most arcane branch of magic. Mental stability or instability is important. Distinct feature is the appearance of glowing magic circles in the magic.
Due to the existence of magic not being new, the magic branches have blurred with time. Travellers have spread the different cultures and magic thus leading to most modern schools teaching some magic from all disciplines even though they may specialise in a certain kind. People who focus purely a single type are considered eccentric or backwards.
Or so it is mentioned. To summarise and add on, basically Ba (Bæ) magic is an exclusive type to a select group of people. These heritages are often either the centre of a nation, or living secluded and hidden in some obscure location. The magic found in this branch varies the most from each other and the disparity in strength displayed by each user differs. It is also believed to be the most ancient magic. Ra (Rå) magic is supposedly the youngest branch, though still ancient, and is supposedly the most diverse branch and more flexible compared to others. However it is considered the lease potent branch and is often therefore thought as an imitator of other branches. That is not to say that a high tier Ra spell is not dangerous, but compared to a similarly high tier spell from any of the other branches, the Ra spell would be sorely lacking. Ci (Cï) magic is believed to be the second youngest magic branch. Although it was originally created to imitate Ba magic, it has now moved on and it’s practitioners are known for their longevity and youthfulness. This branch of magic is rumoured to be quite popular among some countries’ noble’s and court ladies (like the Holy Xeno Empire). Lastly, Wi (Wî) magic is my opinion the creepiest branch. This branch of magic is very similar to alchemy and it often requires preparation to set up spells. Time consuming and creepy, the magic is obscure and learning it is filled with dangerous pits as this branch of magic also has the most magic misfire out of all the branches. Among 30% of practitioners have a disfiguration due to a mistake in their magic. Finding a willing teacher is also incredibly difficult in most regions as the branch is shunned in many places as almost a curse or force of evil- probably due to beginner practitioners accidently involving others in their misfire. The only thing that has kept this branch still alive is it’s occasional miraculous magic effect- curing some incurable disease or razing a magically strengthened castle to the ground while out of sight. The Wi magic branch also contains many, wide area of effect and potent magic spells.
I will write in further detail about each branch once I have more information as some branches seem hard to learn about...
Today's Memo:
I wonder if I’m still remembered?
Unwillingly I left my past,
To enter an unknown future,
That memory will be my last,
So I’ll ingrain it with sutures.
