Vol 12: Ch 5 - The Second Version of the System

Martel gently stretched as he stirred from his restful sleep. The sun had yet to peek through the windows as it was still relatively early. Martel, who needed less sleep than the average human, was already used to the sight. He glanced at the silver sleeping figure to his side with eyes full of love and doting. His initial worries about his most recent wife had diminished with time as she had quickly and happily integrated with his family. Angelica was truly happy to have people she considered peers and a partner to speak with at an intellectual level.

Martel shifted slightly as he gently stroked the black wings that protruded from her back. His mind couldn’t help but replay when they had unintentionally erupted, among other things, last night. However, he quickly brushed those thoughts aside to keep himself focused as he brought up the System HUD to check in detail the information I popped up shortly after he had begun to punish Miyuki.

Welcome to System Update V2!

Aside from increasing the maximum possible level from 100 to 200, the System Update is purely informational. Thanks to the influx of foreign rules, the System has automatically corrected previously improperly categorized and summarized abilities into new categories and other pertinent information. The discrepancy between information is due to the System filling in said information with knowledge from individuals, which was incorrect. Please note that some discrepancies may still occur due to insufficient relevant rules.

As the update source, you may distribute the update as you wish. The System will be completely updated in approximately three years.

Martel couldn’t help but be extremely surprised by this information. However, he wasn’t extremely thrilled by it. The increase in the maximum level was almost pointless as it was extremely difficult to reach the initial Level 100, much less beyond. The ability to distribute the update, effectively only informational, wasn’t a big help. However, Martel would never turn down information, so he still gave a thorough look. His focus was primarily on the new categories and how they differed from his knowledge. The first piece of information he learned was the categories involving the physical.

Race:

Each creature can only have one race. With extremely rare exceptions, a creature’s race depends on its ancestry. Every race can have inherent traits, magic, Talents, etc. Some abilities may be inaccessible due to certain factors, like blood purity or the need to be trained. A creature’s race is also the defining factor in its appearance, though bloodlines can affect it.

Some races have innate inheritances that they can obtain.

Races have 9 Ranks: lesser, common, higher, count, prince, king, emperor, saint, god/chaos.

There can be different ranks within the same species (like different types of dragons).

Bloodline:

A bloodline is indirectly related to race and results from ancestry or acquired bloodline. With rare exceptions, someone with a bloodline can only have access to some of the abilities of the respective race. However, the user has little physical difference, especially if the bloodline is acquired. The changes tend to be similar to mutations. Some powerful innate bloodlines can cause physical changes if they are of a significantly higher level than their race.

Unlike race, a user can have multiple bloodlines, but the amount and type depend on their race.

There are rare instances where someone can have the bloodline of a race even when the said race has no blood.

Like races, bloodlines can have inheritances, but these tend to be incomplete.

Bloodlines have nine ranks based on the inherent strength within the blood. Typically, this is synonymous with respective race ranks, though a Race’s Rank trumps a bloodline rank.

Physique:

A physique is a unique body that incorporates an attribute or thing (like shadows or a creature).

There are two types of physiques, innate and acquired. Innate typically means that the user is born with a physique, and Acquired means it was obtained by some means. It is possible for an acquired to become innate, even though it seems counterintuitive.

Either Physique gives the user unique insight into their attribute or creature(and the attribute of the creature if applicable) and a potential Trait (like water breathing etc.).

Innate physiques are guaranteed to give the user the Talent to become the respective attribute if applicable or another if not.

Creature Physiques can incarnate into the said race, though it may require significant time, training, or increasing the bloodline’s strength.

Depending on the Physique, and other factors, it is possible to develop other corresponding Talents. Typically this corresponds with an increase in Rank, and increasing Rank can produce a Talent and an increase in the respective affinity, etc.

Physiques can also spawn a corresponding bloodline and vice versa.

Mutations:

Mutations typically have nothing to do with race. For example, you can have the ability of a Race but never obtain more. Or you can gain an ability spontaneously that is unique. It can be considered an incomplete Bloodline or Physique or simply fall out of those categories and affect the body.

Martel was slightly surprised by this information. Previously, only race and mutations were categories that existed, and race had previously been inconsequential. However, this wasn’t what surprised Martel. What surprised Martel to be dumbfounded was that he had a physique. Not only did he have a physique, but the Physique showed just how wrong the System had been before, as his Physique had been categorized as an

ESPER ability.

Origin Physique (Innate Rank 1)

A body that automatically generates and contains the power of Origin, the power believed to have created all. This Physique has the following effects:

1. Higher potential Max stats, especially nonphysical.

2. Through the consumption of Origin within the body, the potential to create or upgrade abilities or one’s existence. However, this trait cannot be controlled and often requires external stimulus or resources, like the System.

3. Increases the ability to obtain and combine all Abilities.

4. Increased compatibility of all Abilities. This includes adapting abilities not designed for the physique holder’s race or abilities that would otherwise conflict. Incompatible abilities may be modified to become compatible.

5. Through physical contact, excess Origin can be transmitted to another individual according to the level of intimacy. Transmitted Origin will be retained and potentially increased, creating a temporary Origin Physique providing the above effects.

6. The increased probability of being sent to other worlds.

Innate Talent

Locked: this Talent is currently in a locked state. Once the unknown condition(s) are met, the Talent will be unlocked.

Martel found this information to be quite interesting. Firstly, it revealed that someone else had an Origin Physique and incorrectly categorized it as an ESPER ability. Previously, The System seemed to take the information from individuals. Now it seemed to take information directly from the world’s rules. The second was that they weren’t far from understanding the effects. The only particularly new information came from number five. However, this made sense to Martel.

There were two notable times when the fifth effect came into place. The first time was with Yutsuki, and the second was with Shalgana with their respective ESPER and apparent Physique. Interestingly, he had not been intimate with either of them then. He had been physically close to them due to living and training with them. Martel realized that the fifth effect was most likely occurring constantly; he had previously been attributing it to his Harem King Talent. His Origin Physique and Harem King Talent worked together for exponentially better results. It could be the same for his Devour Talent.

Martel was slightly disappointed in noting that the Innate Talent that came with the Origin Physique was locked. He had no prior knowledge of this Talent, nor did he even know that a Talent could be locked. However, he was not foreign to the concept of conditions. Conditions were an intricate part of magic; having more conditions could make a more powerful spell. The most simple conditions were the amount of mana, casting time, and manipulation versus creation. To his knowledge, the concept of conditions also meant that it would be significantly stronger than other Talents.

Martel’s final piece of interest was the knowledge that the Origin Physique had already been discovered. It should have been discovered in this world as the information was present in the first version of the System.

On a whim, Martel searched his database to see if anyone else possessed the Origin Physique. Luckily, the System retroactively added the information. However, Martel wasn’t expecting any hits, and it seemed that physiques were extremely rare, much less his own.

It only took several seconds for the search results to come back. For someone with so much self-control, the variety of emotions Martel experienced within several seconds was a first for him. First, he was stunned, then angry, then helpless. Only one other person in his search with an Origin Physique, Freed. What had caused Martel’s emotional volatility was who had the Origin Physique and the Innate Talent that came with it.

Eternal Rivals

You can target an individual as your rival, a friend or enemy. In either case, you directly affect their Fortune, the combination of their Luck, Fate, and Destiny.

In the case of a friend, the Fortune of whoever has significantly less will slowly increase. The target is released once the maximum increased Fortune has been obtained, or if you will it. You cannot target them again unless there is a significant increase in either’s Fortune.

In the case of enemies, you will plunder their Fortune regardless of the disparity. You will have access to similar, if not the same, Fortune as there’s, sometimes stealing it outright. They cannot be removed as a target until you have completely plundered their Fortune. You will find it mutually difficult to kill one another, even indirectly. However, this will always be through circumstance via your Fortune, not personal choice. If there is a significant negative difference in the target’s Fortune, this Talent will have diminishing effects, and the enemy can plunder yours instead.

Be warned, if you don’t have a target, it may be created automatically.

Target: Martel (Enemy)*

*The current target’s Fortune is larger and vastly outpacing your own. Currently, the Talent has no effect.

All of Martel’s emotional changes stemmed from this Talent. His anger came from Freed’s seeming to be ‘plundering’ his Fortune. Perhaps this started even back in college. Moreover, this seemed to explain why Freed had been summoned to the same world as him twice, seemingly under similar situations. The only notable difference was that Martel cherished his Fortune while Freed seemed to take his for granted. Of course, Martel’s helplessness also stemmed from this Talent, as it provided Freed with ‘plot armor’ and was the most likely reason that the cockroach was still scurrying around. Martel’s only solace was that his Fortune seemed significantly larger and growing faster than Freed’s. This was most likely due to the happenstance of breaking the Fate of his wives as they lent him strength and increased his Destiny.

Martel quickly dismissed the information and went back to his physical Abilities. Noting nothing else had changed, he went to the next category of his Abilities. This category was cultivation. The concept of cultivation was not foreign to Martel. Technically, he was already a cultivator as he cultivated ki. A person who cultivated ki was considered a martial artist. While some were in Earth’s Western Hemisphere, most were in the Eastern Hemisphere. Martel had done extensive research on breaking through Rank 10 Ki, though he had no luck.

The way he cultivated Ki was different from how those in the East did. The rules in the first world Martel went to automatically created a ki core within his heart, and there was no way to do this on Earth. Ki was energy automatically produced by life forms, notably different than vitality. Eastern martial artists would take this ki, move it through their meridians, and store it in their dantian.

When Martel first got this information, he didn’t know what to make of it. Due to his extensive knowledge, he believed the existence of the meridians and dantian to be completely fictional, at least for those on Earth. However, once he checked his body with his soul, he found he had meridians and a dantian. They seemed completely undetectable to modern science, as if they were nonphysical, yet they were affected by the physical.

Martel found that those of Eastern heritage tended to have them while others did not. Perhaps this was the result of a past Convergence.

He stored his Ki within his circulatory System, which meant there was little information on cultivating it further. This was potentially better as a cultivator would take and store Chi, an energy that permeated all existence, instead of Ki, as they were mutually exclusive. Because Martel stored his Ki within his heart, he could still store Chi within his dantian. However, he had never attempted to do so due to the lack of knowledge and resources when he had other means to increase his strength. Perhaps, if the situation arose, he could also take this path, but he could not see a viable one now.

Martel noticed that the cultivation section was incomplete. The System’s rules seemed to contain information on cultivation but were severely lacking. There were two notable sub-categories within cultivation: Wills and Daos.

Wills were relatively straightforward. It was an individual’s willpower manifested in a way that could affect others. One that Martel had, and used frequently, was Killing Intent, also called the Will of Killing. Interestingly, the only other will Martel found was one that Freyja had, which was the Will of the Ruler. Specifically, that of the Overlord. Martel found this surprising, as a will was extremely hard to create, much less one as overbearing as the Will of the Overlord appeared to be. However, he thought little of it as he trusted Freyja completely. What he found most interesting was the concept of the Dao.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

The Dao referred to one’s understanding of an attribute or concept, though not necessarily knowledge. Though the information was lacking, a Dao could upgrade any ability that utilized that aspect. Interestingly, Martel had three Daos: Swordsmanship, Spearmanship, and Despair. Though he was a little unnerved by understanding the Dao of Despair, he checked through his wife’s information and found someone else with a Dao. Shalgana had stepped into the Dao of the sword, as had he. However, he heavily suspected she wasn’t the only one with a Dao. The reason he suspected this was simple. When it came to Freyja’s information, it was classified. This feature could not automatically be used, meaning Freyja had intentionally classified this information. Martel was confused, but only for a moment. Freyja had his complete trust.

Regarding ki, there was only slightly more information, most of which Martel already knew. The only information of interest had to do with Manifestations. Manifestations were divided into three sub-categories: normal, awakened, and sentient. Of note, awakened was a manifestation that utilized ki with an appropriate attribute, and sentient was awakened an additional soul. Martel had already realized that using a specific attribute with a manifestation could make it more powerful. For example, his ki dragons were notably stronger than other Manifestations. Unfortunately, there seemed to be no information on how to go beyond Peak Rank 10 Ki.

There was no real information about magic, just more detailed information on the different schools. It wasn’t until Soul Armaments that it became interesting. Soul Armaments could also have additional traits. Upgradable meant that its Tier and Rank could be improved by absorbing a specific treasure, though the exact method was unclear. Evolvable meant that the abilities could be improved or expanded upon. Mergeable meant it could assimilate the attributes from other Soul Armaments without changing the essence of the original. Sentient means that the Soul Armament could act independently, typically because they were made from a fragment of its owner’s soul. Finally, the Godslayer series was notably effective against Daos but contained little additional information.

Martel was surprised by this additional information. Excluding the Sentient and Godslayer series, the Crown of Origin Soul Armament could add three other traits. The epiphany that soul Armaments could have these features independently was good to know.

Overall, this was the majority of the information provided by the upgrade. Martel couldn’t help but be slightly disappointed. At the very least, the upgrade did provide a clear use of some of his abilities. It was at this time that the body beside him began to stir.

Angelica stretched as she blinked her hazy eyes. Seeing the blurry figure beside her, she cracked the drowsy angelic smile. “You’re still here.”

Hearing her words, Martel could help but feel a pang of guilt as he gently scooped her into his arms. “I’m sorry for being a failure as a husband.”

Angelica’s drowsy eyes quickly faded as she processed his sentence. “That’s not what I meant.”

“No, you’re right. I’m sorry I can’t be here for you every morning.”

“It’s okay. I treasure my time with you even more.”

“No regrets?”

“... Well…”

“Oh, is that how it’s going to be?” Martel replied, feigning being miffed just as she had feigned having regrets.

Angelica couldn’t help but chuckle as she rested her head on his chest. “Well, at the very least, you’re better than my father.”

“That’s not a high bar,” Martel replied as he turned away and sat on the bed.

“Damn straight,” Angelica replied. She gingerly got up, draped herself over his shoulders, and kissed his cheek. “I love you.”

“I love you more,” Martel replied with a cocky smile.

Angelica rolled her eyes. She found it strange that such a smart and serious person could have a childish side, but she also loved him. A sly smile suddenly crept across her face. “Speaking of who you love more.”

“I’m going to help with breakfast,” Martel said as he quickly set up and left the room.

Angelica shook her head at Martel’s reaction. She knew full well how he would react to that question.

“Where is Freyja?” Martel asked as everyone got together for breakfast.

“The farmland,” Morgan replied with dark circles under her eyes. “I finished the spells to assist in agriculture last night.”

“Oh? How did it go?”

“Very well. I have a few spells that can be laid out as enchantments in the field to increase the effectiveness in all areas, including growth, anti-pestilence, anti-rot, etc. A few other spells she requested make little sense due to the limitations of nature magic. She said she knew someone who could bypass that problem.”

“Freyja knows someone?” Martel mumbled to himself with a cocked eyebrow. Then he realized and did a quick location check before he broke out with a bitter smile.

Correctly expecting the Wave to happen sometime soon, Martel had given the party several days to train and relax as they liked. His two soul bodies were grinding the Expertise System while his main body stayed with his wives. As it turned out, three of his party members were now in Hastings. “Looks like I’ll have to keep a couple of meals warm,” Marcus said as he set aside meals for two and went back to chatting with his wives.

Hestia, Laelynn, and Rose all appeared within the Red Dragon Trading Company branch in Hastings with a flash of purple.

“Greetings, I have been expecting you.” The receptionist said with a slight bow to the three of them. “I’ve already prepared a means of transportation. Please follow me.”

Hestia nodded as she led the other two to follow behind the receptionist. She had been surprised when the Adventurers Guild contacted her about a requested quest. The Adventurers Guild would have quests like monster extermination, or escort meant that the available adventurers would often take these. In this instance, Hestia, Laelynn, and Rose had been requested by name, with the former being requested to escort the latter two. She instinctively had some concerns, but assurance from the Adventurers Guild and the Red Dragon Trading Company lessened those. Given that the news had reached her at the training facility, she did not doubt the authenticity or safety.

Laelynn couldn’t help but wonder as they rode through the city under reconstruction. It was extremely rare for a city affected by a Wave to begin reconstruction so soon. Reconstruction of the territory would usually fall under the respective kingdom, which would be far too busy worrying about the next Wave to allocate funds and manpower, especially early on when the Waves would be close. However, this was not a problem for Hastings as it had shown explosive growth. The presence of the slaves reassured citizens and immigrants who felt it would be safer to be in the exact location of the previous Wave had caused a local explosion. Eventually, they exited the city and made their way toward the farmlands.

Due to the city’s location being near the strait, there was not much available farmland. The city often acquired required food through trade with neighbors or fishing. However, those who had noted would notice that Hastings’s current farmland had increased by nearly 50%. This is because land that was previously unsuitable to become farmland had been transformed thanks to the SRIN and importation of resources.

Eventually, the party of four women reached a specific plot of land. Waiting for them was a single woman standing next to her horse. The receptionist signaled the three women to head towards the lone woman while she remained by the horse and carriage. Hestia led the way and approached the long woman who turned at their approach. Hestia was briefly stunned as she found the woman one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen. Though she had seen yellow hair before, this woman’s golden hair seemed to shine. Her eyes were deep and seemed full of kindness, kindness one would expect from a relative, not a stranger. Her smile was gentle, welcoming, and relaxing.

“Hello, Hestia, Laelynn, and Rose.” The woman said with a smile as she nodded towards them. “My name is Freyja. It is lovely to meet you.”

The three of them gave their greetings back, but Hestia suddenly froze. Freyja was a unique name, and it took her a second to realize where she had heard it before. She quickly gave a formal bow. “Hestia greets her Majesty, Regent Freyja.”

Freyja’s eyebrow slightly rose to correspond with her surprise. “As expected of the heir apparent of a Duchy. You are well-informed. However, this is an informal meeting. Let’s dispose of the formalities, shall we? I wanted to meet you three for some time. Especially you.” Freyja replied as she glanced at Laelynn.

Laelynn’s mind was frozen at the sudden turn of events. Though she was simple-minded, she was not stupid. Having grown up amongst royalty, she naturally understood Hestia’s actions. However, before she could process the information and act accordingly, Freyja suddenly hugged her. Further startled by the sudden physical intimacy, she only froze in place. However, there was no disgust, but she felt a gentle warmth and calm. Holding back the tears in her eyes, she reciprocated the hug for a few seconds before they separated. In Freyja’s eyes, Laylenn saw gentleness, dotingness, and caring at a level she had only received before from Martel.

“It’s so good to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you.” Freyja said with a gentle smile.

“Really?” Laelynn replied, still slightly overwhelmed.

“Yes. I hope to get along well with you in the future. Now then, I’ve asked you here on business. I understand you have a unique Talent that will be very helpful for agriculture. I have some spells here that I would like you to learn and cast on the fields. Could you help me?” Freyja asked as she handed Laelynn the book.

Laelynn quickly took the book, and she nodded. She was happy to help. As Laelynn buried herself in the book, Rose buried herself in the ground and began to improve the fields in her way. As they did so, Freyja stood beside Hestia, who seemed lost in thought.

“Don’t worry, the information about Laelynn’s Talent is top-secret,” Freyja said.

Hestia nodded. “I hope it stays that way. Her Talent is rare and could easily be used by others due to her simple-mindedness.”

Freyja chuckled lightly at Hestia’s implication. “Remuneration will be given directly to her and won’t be lacking.”

Hestia slightly frowned. Typically, owners would take money earned by slaves. While this would lessen the amount owed by the contract of debt slaves, slaves like Laelynn, who was not linked to a monetary value, would obtain nothing. This was one of the reasons why non-debt slaves were more expensive and sought after. “Martel isn’t such a person.”

Freyja struggled for a moment to maintain her poker face. Hestia had misunderstood and thought Freyja had implied that Martel was taking advantage of Laelynn. Of course, Freyja felt funny that another woman would defend her husband in front of her. “It seems you hold the Shield Hero in high regard.”

“He is a good man and a friend.”

“Only a friend?”

“Your Majesty, please refrain from such insensitive remarks. That’s how rumors are spread; rumors that sabotage one’s reputation.”

Freyja cocked an eyebrow. “Oh? Would you be ashamed if rumors spread that the two of you were involved?”

Hestia frowned. Though stoic, she seemed slightly flustered at a level hard to discern. “Not at all. I just find such statements to be inappropriate.”

“He can’t escape such rumors. After all, he’s traveling with so many attractive slaves. Once word gets out, many people call him a womanizer behind his back and a lecher at worst.”

“He isn’t such a person.” Hestia resolutely said before she continued, not knowing Freyja desperately stifled a chuckle. “He hasn’t laid a hand on any of them, even though several have probably offered.”

Freyja nodded. “Yes, but it wouldn’t likely be believed even if true. As a man in a position of power, many will wish to tear him down from his pedestal. Defaming rumors will spread regardless, as they will latch onto his shortcomings. Although, you are the last person I need to tell this to.”

Hestia didn’t reply. She had experienced firsthand the bullying that Freyja referred to. Many displayed displeasure with her being the heir to a Duchy. Even though it was far from unheard of, most rulers were men, and many would be displeased to have a woman at the same level or higher power as them. Thus, to help their ego, they attacked Hestia’s weakness, her lack of magical talent. Those who did not see Martel in a positive light would likely use similar tactics, defaming him every chance they could. Knowing this, Hestia furrowed her brows as her mind tried to devise a countermeasure.

As Hestia’s expression turned serious, Freyja’s smile turned gentle. “You don’t need to worry about such a thing. While maintaining good public opinion is a good idea, it’s unnecessary. Besides, you should know about our investment in propaganda. Though we will not be unable to affect the opinion of nobles heavily, the opinion of the lower class will be far easier to influence.”

“... I suppose I’ll leave it to you then.”

“As it should be. Since you’ve decided to join the shield hero’s party, that should be your primary focus.” Freyja replied before she broke into a mysterious smile. “It may be your only focus soon.”

Hestia nodded but couldn’t help but frown at the latter half of Freyja’s words.

“Hestia, you’re a smart person,” Freyja said after she noted Hestia’s expression. “I’m sure you have some questions for me, and I’ll try to answer to the best of my abilities.”

“Who is the king, and how is he related to the Red Dragon Trading Company?” Hestia asked immediately, as these questions had been at the forefront of her mind.

Freyja smiled. “The king is my husband, who founded the Red Dragon Trading Company. As for his exact identity, forgive me, but that will remain a secret for now.”

Hestia was slightly disappointed with this information but knew the response was understandable. Her mind raced through several influential and wealthy individuals, but none fit the bill.

After learning the spells, Laelynn cast them on the fields for over an hour. Hestia and Freyja talked during this time, with the former slowly and unknowingly lowering her guard. Given the number of fields and Laelynn running out of mana, they decided to continue on another day.

After sending the three of them off, Freyja got on her horse. She was about to make her way back to her residence but stopped as she gazed towards the straight before she spurred her horse in that direction. Eventually, she made her way next to a small horse-drawn cart at the high point of the coast overlooking the strait. An old white-haired woman sat in the driver’s seat, and she seemed to have a rather thick layer of makeup covering what little skin she showed.

“Is there something I can help you with?” Freyja asked.

The older woman, slightly surprised, turned to look at her. “No, thank you, my dear.” She said in a voice that was surprisingly young for her age. “I’m just thinking about the past.” She turned her gaze back across the straight with eyes tinged with sadness and loneliness.

“Is there something I can do to help?”

The old woman shook her head. “No, I am merely reminiscing in my melancholy, and besides, I need to begin the trek home.”

“I see. Then safe travels. You should strive to reach home early as the next Wave will happen tomorrow.”

The older woman turned back to Freyja with a hint of surprise. “Well, it’s up to you young ones to keep us old folks safe.”

“I’ll do what I can.”

“Thank you, dear, on everyone’s behalf.” The older woman said with a slight bow. Then, she led her horse down the path.

Freyja did not move as she watched the old woman leave. She approached the woman because the SRIN had reported her as an enigma. Freyja attempted to get a read on her through the conversation but failed. She seems strong yet weak at the same time. However, she could sense no malice, only sadness.

Eventually, Freyja made her way to the kitchen and found it alone, say for one individual.

Martel smiled at her approach as he removed their servings of food. “Busy morning?”

“Slightly. Especially on an empty stomach.” She replied as Martel brought the plates to the table. She was momentarily surprised when he set the dishes next to each other but rolled her eyes once he motioned for her to sit on his lap. “This brings back memories.”

“Good ones, I hope,” Martel asked as he brought some food to her.

“The best.” She replied before she accepted the food and did the same in return. “You aren’t going to ask?”

“No point in asking. You would tell me if you wanted me to know.”

“I like Laelynn.”

“I do too.”

“I like Hestia.”

“I think of her as a friend.”

Freyja rolled her eyes. “You think of me as a friend, do you not?”

“Friend, lover, and confidant. Not just a friend.” Martel replied. “Are you ready for tomorrow?”

“Of course. There should be no cause for worry. Based on every other Invasion, this Wave should be relatively easy. We all have Rank 10 Ki, so it should be foolproof as we will not run out of energy. Most of the casualties during the second Wave were not due to strong opponents, but hubris and unpreparedness.”

Martel nodded. “Well, to my understanding, I will fully control XP distribution, so you won’t have to work too hard tomorrow.”

Freyja rolled her eyes. “I want to let loose every once in a while too.”

Martel looked at her with a bewildered expression.

After several seconds, Freyja blushed. “I mean in a fight.”

Martel’s expression didn’t change until she pinched his side. “Okay, I get it,” Martel replied.

“I swear that sometimes it seems that’s all you think about.”

Now it was Martel’s turn to roll his eyes. “Do you need anything?”

“No.”

“Good. Tomorrow will be a busy day.”

End of Day 108
