Golems have been a thing in my ideas for The Legend of Celeste for a long long while. There was a long period of time that I feared that their concept was a bit out of place for setting but after having played a bit of Black Desert Online and seeing how well the "Guardians of the Ancients" worked despite the medieval fantasy theme, I ultimately decided "Y'know, it's my story. If I wanna put ancient magic robots in it, that's my right."

And yes, the design takes a lot of inspirations from Hayao Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky" with a little touch of Necron and a dash of Honda...of all things.

Coming seamlessly out from its shoulders was a tall and thin bell-shaped head with two black eyes, one significantly larger than the other. Chilse, who had sat on a large chunk of ancient stone, had noticed Sera staring and answered her silent curiosity.
