—Sarah’s POV—
I was sitting on a chair in my apartment, looking at Dai’s wristwatch and thinking about that massacre I assisted a couple of days ago, how that Dai was able to do such a cold-blooded killing, made me reconsider for a moment that maybe we aren’t that different from each other…but how was that possible? Shouldn’t be some balance with one of us being good, while the other is evil? How can we be both cold-blooded and selfish killers?
I had to find out more about him and I had the perfect lead, plus that was the day were Arismis had something else to do so I was completely free. The aura around the watch was less strong the day I found it but still enough to follow the trail and I knew how to proceed since one of my victims had a power useful for occasions like this.
‘It almost seems like it was all planned from the start…’ I thought jokingly and then I became serious
‘Was this…also planned by him?’
I immediately shook my head ‘Nono, it can’t be. I’m becoming paranoid’
I looked at the watch again and concentrated my aura around it
‘Let’s start then’
With that power, I could use my aura to force an object, still soaked in someone else’s aura, to “speak” and reveal a trail of where the person is. I stayed there concentrating on my aura and after 5 minutes, I was able to see a line, which was like a string made of fire, and I started following it but I would have never thought the place was close. The place was a house and they were holding a wake
‘Is it for one of the students? Does he feel guilty for what he did?’ I thought and immediately concealed my presence with my aura to enter the house without being noticed. The building wasn’t that big and I quickly found the room where they holding the wake, Dai was there and, from what I understood, he was talking to the parents of the deceased, who was Misato; but apart from those 3, there were just 5 people. A bit saddened, I tried to listen to the conversation and I was surprised when the guy gave a gift to the parents
‘Is he trying to feel less guilty by giving them a gift-...’ while still listening, I looked at the watch ‘So, it was to thank them…’
I hold onto the watch tightly and quickly left the house. I was running, while stopping to hide my body and once I was back in my apartment, I smashed one of the chairs with a kick. I was angry because I wasn’t understanding what was happening.
‘Why…Why is he acting genuinely good? Shouldn’t he be evil or something?’ I put my hands on my head and grabbed my hair
‘What am I missing? Is there something obvious that I can’t see-’
“You’re thinking a lot recently. Why are you so worried?”
I turned towards the voice, it was Arimis and I started panicking, while quickly putting the watch in my pocket I said
“A-Arismis! It’s nothing I swear-!”
Suddenly he put a hand on my shoulder and I looked at him, he was smiling but there was something off, it was more clear than usual.
“It's fine, you don’t have to explain. I know you are panicking because the last fight is close but try to calm ok? After this, you’ll be able to live a normal life again.” he said.
After a second I slowly nodded, trying to look as convinced as possible.
“Good. Anyway, I found Dai’s apartment. We’ll go on the 4th.” Arismis asked me.
“W-why not now?” I asked confused.

“I still have things to do. I’m here just because I wanted to check on you. Bye” he disappeared out of thin air.
‘He knows’
Another whisper. I didn’t look around this time, knowing there wouldn’t be someone and overwhelmed I could only say something really important.
“Shit.”
—4th October 2026—
In the previous days, nothing interesting happened. I could go to where Dai was to speak with him but I was scared Arsimis was spying on me and I just stayed in the apartment. He showed his face the night before and when I asked him where he went, he didn’t say anything. The following day was the 4th, we went out of the hotel and this time Arismis didn’t want to use the portal because it leaves some “trace” of our presence and since that girl with Dai knew of us, it would have been a risk, so we walked all the way to their apartment, which was half an hour away from where we were. While walking, I was calming myself a bit and I asked Arismis
“Do you know her?”
“Mh? Who?”
“Don’t fake dumb, you understood who I mean.” I said.
He remained silent for a moment, then replied “Maybe, but don’t worry we’ll soon encounter both of them again, and then you’ll have your answer.”
I didn’t insist and we continued walking in silence until we arrived at the apartment, the door was open and both I and Arismis looked at each other, both nodded and went in. The apartment was small, with just one bedroom, a kitchen and a lunch room combined into one room, a toilet and a bathroom. Each room was small and tidy apart from the bedroom which was a mess and smelled a bit stuffy, probably the door had not been open for days, but the rest of the rooms seemed fine and there was no one in there.
“I guess they went out…should we wait for them?” I proposed but Arismis shook his head.
“It would be useless, that girl has keen senses, even if we hid our auras she would notice us.”
“Is she really that strong?” I asked and he shrug his shoulder.
“Probably, I’m not certain…Anyway, let’s go, we’ll continue to search for them.”
I nodded but when we were about to leave, the door suddenly closed shut in front of us, a smell of rotten corpses started impregnating the apartment as soon as I smelled it, I covered my nose with my hand, meanwhile, Arismis seemed unaffected by it.
“This smell…” he said, like he knew what was it, and went back to the kitchen followed by me. The smell was stronger there and now, there was a strange completely black figure with the only visible thing being his wide smile with those yellowish teeth, he was the cause of that awful smell.
Things started getting even weirder when Arismis bowed to him and I would have never thought to see him bow to someone.
“Messenger of the Council. Why are you here?” Arismis asked the figure.
The figure replied with both a rough and ringing voice “The council requires your presence now.”
“Could I ask why?” Arismis asked and looked at me for a second “If her presence is not too much obviously.”.
“No no, it’s not, I can give a brief explanation. The situation is changing rapidly and we have to change our plans, also the council wants to talk about that piece of white aura you sent us the other day.”
‘White aura? Like the one that was mother’s aura?’ I thought and closed my hand in a fist ‘Maybe they are searching for the god who put the curse on her…asking to go with me would not hurt me-’ when I thought about that, Arismis quickly looked at me with murderous intent and the message was clear “Don’t even think about it.”
I remained silent, and then Arismis looked back at the Messenger
“Let’s go then”
After saying that, a black cloud appeared and surrounded both of them, then disappeared with them. I remained there with many thoughts
“What are they hiding? If my assumption was right, then why are they searching for a god?” I shook my head at all of those questions, which answers seemed bigger than my existence and my head started hurting a little bit.
I decided to leave that place and continue to look for that Dai by following the trails from the watch, and while walking through those busy sidewalks, I had a crazy idea
‘What if I ask Dai and that girl for some answers? That would be beneficial for both of us because we wouldn’t have to fight…and the girl, in particular, would be eager to talk since her aura was the same as the one who took over the mother’s body that night. But it’s still too risky…’ I sighed and looked down ‘I can always give this a try but I don’t have high hopes…and…’ I remembered when the girl talked to me in the mother’s body
“The next time we’ll meet, we won’t be speaking this friendly” Remembering this destroyed, even more, my hopes.
‘Maybe I should go and threat them…’ I thought this while looking around to see where I was actually going since I was distracted and didn’t look at the trail. It would have been even more useful if Arismis gave me a smartphone to have a map of the place.
‘Now that I think about it, I have been so concentrated on what I had to do and never thought of buying one or having some time to actually have any kind of fun.’
I was so distracted by all these thoughts that I bumped into a guy’s shoulder and he said sorry, but when I looked at him to say something, I noticed those golden eyes.
