—???’s POV—
“I shared with you another part of my powers Sarah. It’s time to start the fight.”
As soon as Arismis removed his hand from Sarah’s back, her aura slowly shifted to darker blue. Before Dai could even react, she kicked him in the stomach with such strength to send him right back into the coffee shop through the windows. Panic spread through the place and as people started running away, Sarah rushed in trying to hit Dai with a punch, but he managed to block her fist with his hand and tightened the grip on it. He looked her in the eyes, she seemed out of control and her aura was confirming that slowly becoming darker and darker.
“I assume you are the person who wanted to kill me, because of that “worst human” or “greater evil” thing and it will be impossible to speak instead of fight. But I’m curious, wasn't your name Sophia?”
She froze at that question and didn't reply, being in that mindless state wasn’t helping and her head was becoming full of different and confusing thoughts.
“Listen, we-”
Without even the time to finish his sentence, Sarah’s arm transformed into a blade and cut through his hand, while the other arm transformed into a giant snake but with human teeth and bit him in his right shoulder, almost crushing it. She was going to attack him with the blade but suddenly stopped because of a drop of blood that got into her eye like a projectile, because she was caught off guard and in pain the snake’s bite on Dai’s shoulder loosened a bit and he took advantage of that moment to grab it with his right hand while maintaining as much grip as possible on the blade with the left hand, then he threw her through the ceiling and it was enough strength to make her fly high enough that she could see part of Tokyo. Dai concentrated the aura in his legs to boost his jump and go after her, meanwhile, Sarah got a hold of herself, and from her hands, flames started bursting and they were directed against him but he was quick and wrapped his aura around his body to use it as an armour, while a long horizontal cut was opening on his forearm and the handle of a katana came out; he pulled it out and the weapon was completely red.
Suddenly, a strong wind started blowing against Dai, and Sarah, who was still going up in the air, stopped completely and started fluctuating. “Air control” is another one of the powers she obtained during the past year.
“Fall.” as she spoke, the wind became stronger but not enough to make Dai smash onto the ground and while he was still in the air, two wings made out of blood popped out of his back and he started flying against the wind. Seeing him coming closer, Sarah stretched her snake arm to attack or, at least, slow him down, but he was able to dodge and slice through it with his katana, he was closer and closer to her and a sword fight seemed inevitable, so she transformed her snake arm into a blade like the other one and rushed towards Dai by controlling the wind. Their blades crossed and started clashing at insane speeds while flying and trying to make the other smash against the high buildings they came across; both of them started using long-range attacks, like blood bullets for Dai and elemental powers for Sarah, when they were far from each other, but every missed hit went against a building or the street and cause casualties and this continued for what seemed like an eternity.
‘Our strength is too similar.’ Dai thought while avoiding a concatenated series of fire, wind and lighting attacks and trying to shoot little but fast blood bullets from cuts on his fingertips, but thinking got him a little too distracted and an ice dagger hit him in his right eye, without even the time to remove it, Sarah rushed at him by boosting her velocity through the lightning powers and sliced off his left hand where he had the katana, then she went for the head-
“Stop.”
The same whisper stopped her right before the blades could touch Dai’s neck; whoever was, it helped her to regain consciousness and come out of that mindless state but didn’t have the time to react to Dai’s next move; he pointed the handless arm at her and within a second, hundreds of blood bullets were shot at her heart, leaving just a hole.
Stolen story; please report.
-Losing the heart can be different from Zonniki to Zonniki, those who are born or reincarnated as one of them, won’t have any problem, meanwhile, those who awakened will have to go through the usual mind and physical training to speed up the “body’s adaptation process”. This must be done because the soul was still human and the powers were inactive until the day before, so the body must quickly adapt to the new situation and those who don’t train enough will simply perish…-
The wind stopped blowing around Sarah and her body fell, slamming into the middle of the street, where smoke caused by their powers completely hide her from Dai’s sight but seeing her falling was enough to give him some peace of mind. Removed the ice dagger from his eye and looked at it for a moment, he now knew who started that incident in the school
‘Not many people have the same exact powers so it must be her who caused that…and I was the one who worsened the situation by going on a rampage…” he shook his head to not think about it, dropped the dagger and decided to go back to check on Nysilia-
Crack
Suddenly, something bit him on the ankle with enough strength to break it and slammed against different buildings and at the end against the street, it was that snake with human teeth again.
-...but with the right powers and the right people to help them, that situation can be overcome.-
Dai’s forced the snake's mouth to open and after that, the snake returned to Sarah, who was up on her feet, still alive but visibly tired. Dai got up and looked at her, from her eyes she didn’t look to be in that mindless state, her aura was back to normal and her heart, visible because of the hole that was slowly closing, was still in its place.
‘We are equal. She has more powers than me, probably even more that she hasn’t shown, but had no training and someone is giving her a hand…but I don’t even know if that’s possible. Meanwhile, I may not have as many powers as her but I had the right training, this fight is too balanced…I have to end this now with one powerful mo-’
“Let’s stop here.” she suddenly said.
“...what?” Dai asked surprised.
“We don’t have to fight.”
“Are you for real?
She nodded with a serious look on her face “Because of an incident that happened last month, my will to fight against you slowly vanished and if it wasn’t for Arismis, that guy who stabbed me, I wouldn’t have started this. Now, I just want to speak.”
“Incident? Do you mean that frozen house in Arizona?” Dai asked, while staying on the defensive.
She nodded again “Yes and...” Sarah told Dai what happened with the family, every single detail so there wouldn’t have been any misunderstanding but he was still doubtful.
“And why should I believe you?”
Sarah smiled, in a way that it was clear what she was thinking, that his question is ridiculous.
“Because I saw you the other day and I understood that we are way too similar on certain things. We are both selfish but we change when we lose someone we care about. Misato was like a little sister to you, and you changed when she died, I watched everything. That thirst for blood you had was just a way for you to not cry and have a sort of revenge against the world we live in…it was not the blood that you liked, it was the thirst for revenge, plus something else that made your patience go boom!” she accompanied that word with her hands mimicking an explosion and continued speaking
“Meanwhile, to me, Sophia’s mother was like a…well, a mom who unfairly died because of a god, which I’ll kill. That will be my revenge and finding my actual memories will be good too.”
Dai remained silent, her analysis seemed spot on and it seriously seemed they were equal in every way possible, but he still was trying to not believe her. He didn’t want to end up in the grasp of a liar like Nysilia. But he also had to consider the possibility that what she said could be true. If it was, then what was the point for us to kill each other? Shouldn’t this be a battle between Good and Bad? Which is which? Something was missing and there was probably something bigger behind which was connected to…
‘That’s right!’ Dai had an idea ‘That memory I saw! Maybe I could take advantage of this situation to ask if she saw something like that. If so, that means she isn’t my enemy and she’s somewhat connected to the Witch, who wasn’t an enemy of the Emperor either. She doesnìt want to fight so I could give this a try.’
Dai started speaking “By any chance, did you have some kind of vision or memory in the past?” Dai asked, an answer to that question would have led him closer and closer to the truth…but before Sarah could even answer, a powerful explosion occurred.
