Chapter 4 : Settle For 2nd

Chapter 4 : Settle For 2nd

"Cats are moody man, that's why I love dogs", says Gregory.

"Tell me ya'll have Brendan's Crumb Cake, I can't keep going to all these stores."

The man behind the counter nods.

"Check the middle aisle, follow the cat".

"See he was trying to show us where it was all along", says Zach.

They check the middle aisle. Box after box there is no Crumb Cake. Zach finds a crumb cake. It's a different brand. "Amel Jenkins Crumb Cake."

"Buy it man, I'm tired of walking around. And it might be tastier. I'll eat it if you don't like it", says Gregory.

Gregory closes a fist on the crumb cake, and opens the pack.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"Pay the man, let's get out of here."

"Hey man, why are you eating my crumb cake?"

"I'm testing it for you, I'm taste testing, I'm sort of a one man focus group."

"$2.99", says the Owner.

"It's $2.99 Greg".

"Why you telling me, pay the man, I like this, it's chewier, thicker and four comes in a pack, it's a little dry tho, can I get another one?"

Zach really doesn't want to pay because he only wants to buy Brendan's Crumb Cake. But, he can't put 'Amel Jenkins Crumb Cake' back since Gregory opened it. Brendan's Crumb Cake is the only cake he has a taste for and now he only has $10.00 left for dinner and something to drink, since his mother, Anastasia doesn't cook on Friday's. Zach's mother, She gave him the exact amount for the crumb cake, soul food and juice.

"You messed me up Greg, you really messed me up, no cap, let's go uptown and see if it's there, it's only 3 blocks c'mon."

Before they begin walking, Greg vehemently protests. He makes up an excuse to get away from the next excursion.

"I'm playing ball, you go uptown".

"How you playing ball and we have a test tomorrow?"

"I can't wait till we graduate, I'm going to the navy".

"What does that have to do with going to the store, you did eat my crumb cakes, gimme the pack".

"There's two left".
