Day 1: questions and theories

Day 1: questions and theories

Dino woke up in a daze. Was everything that just happened a dream? No, it was not, because what dino saw couldn't have been a dream. He must have passed out in shock.

The rock kept flying up and up as the earth got smaller and smaller. But dino looked away from the earth because there clearly was no more going back now.

The farther they got away from earth the darker the sky got. That was a bit strange since it was the middle of the day. Then the sky turned completely dark and got full of stars.

And then dino looked around more in detail, and omg, it was beautiful. It was like it was night all the time here. This place was so strange. But it also felt overwhelming. This place stretched on for what looked like forever, and all those little white dots looked so far away. There was so much empty space between everything. “space”. That seemed like a good name for this place. A vast open area that went on for what felt like forever.

As the rock escalated, Dino turned back around to see the world. It was strange. He saw the whole planet he lived on for all of his life as just a huge floating ball in space. There was also a glowing blue sheet over the world.

But then dino got a closer look at the earth, oh the earth, the breeze was no longer gentle and there were no more trees for the wind to rustle, There was no more perfect water to splash in, and the sun served no more purpose, for the earth was full of the wispy red and orange glowing plasma and everything was burning.

All of the dinos on earth died that day.

This was a terrible sight to see. Is this what he got for not wanting to live anymore? All of this destruction. All of this death and he was the only one that survived! This couldn't be, how was all of this possible?

He then saw the moon floating much farther away from the earth then he thought it would be. It was also huge but a lot smaller than the earth. It looked a lot like the rock he was on but bigger and brighter. The moon looked so close on earth but was so far away in space

And then he saw the sun, omg the sun, it was sooo much bigger than the earth even from where he was standing. It was so far far away but still it was so big. It looked nothing like the small little white glowing ball it looked in the sky like on earth. It was a huge orange sphere with some spots of white and little dots of yellow everywhere. Sometimes there would even be little flares of what looked like the wispy plasma all over earth firing out of the sun.

The rock flew farther and farther away from the earth and soon it started to slow down. Now the rock was floating, slowly moving around in space. It actually was pretty comforting. It was a nice break after all that just happened.

Now that there was no longer any chaos, he had time to think about what the fuck just happened. How is he not dead? How did the rock bounce off of the earth and not just crash into it? He had so many questions, but he couldn't answer any of them.

But then Dino felt the direction of the rock change. The rock stopped going away from the earth and started going to the left. Did the rock just move on its own? Was the rock alive? Is that how the rock bounced off of the earth? Did the rock spare dino?

Dino had answers to his questions now. The rock must be alive. That would explain everything. Why the rock changed directions, why the rock bounced off of earth, why dino is still alive. It was simple. The rock decided to attack earth. Then it saw Dino trying to kill himself with the rock. Then the rock felt bad for dino, so it spared him.

But this still brought more questions. How did dino get spared but the rest of the earth still got destroyed? Since the only way for dino to be spared would be for the rock to have hit the earth light enough for dino to be alive but the rest of the earth to be destroyed, but that was impossible. Actually, Dino remembered that when the rock hit him, he was about to go into one of the holes on the rock. Maybe the holes on the rock act like mouths and the rock swallowed dino before hitting the earth, then the rock spit dino back out when they were in the air. That would explain why he passed out for a bit. Another question appeared in dinos' mind. If it was alive how come the rock never ate or drank and dino never felt the rock breathing. Maybe the rock was in hibernation. But if it was in hibernation then the rock couldn't have swallowed and spit out dino and the rock would still be breathing in hibernation. Dino thought for a good moment but didn't know the answer to this question. Then another question came to mind. If the rock was alive then why did it decide to crash into the earth, killing everything on earth in the process.

Dino tried to wake up the rock. He knocked and stomped on the rock, but nothing happened. Trying to talk to the rock was also hard since dino was mute. Dino couldn't talk or roar or make any noise from his mouth since the incident. He wanted to know more about the rock, it did save his life, even though this might not be as good as living on earth, he might even be friends with the rock. It would be nice having a friend after being alone for so long, but it would be hard since both dino and seemingly the rock couldn't speak. Because of this dino decided to make up a nickname for the rock since dino didn't know its name. Space rock? Makes sense but too complicated for a nickname. Maybe he should mix the words together. Spck? That's hard to pronounce. Pock? Nah. race? No, that doesn't make sense since it's already a word that means something else. Spock? That sounds pretty good but hard to pronounce. Maybe he shouldn't just mix together the words space and rock. This great thing should be called something greater than its definition. Rocky? That's still just describing the rock. Man, why is naming things so hard. Maybe it should have a cool name. Besides it did just destroy the entire earth and simply walked it off like nothing happened, but the rock also felt like a gentle creature. Maybe it didn't mean to harm the earth when it collided with it. Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe the rock was hungry and thirsty and saw that earth had plenty of food and water and decided to try and go to it, accidentally killing everything on the planet in the process. That could also be why the rock spared dino. The rock had the chance to save one life out of the billions of lives it just took, and it chose dino. So, Dino decided to name the rock something gentle, like the rock, but also something beautiful yet destructive, like the wispy red and orange glowing plasma that trailed behind the rock when it fell on the earth, giving dino a nice warm embrace when it hit. Just like the ones his parents gave him. He should name the rock after his parents! But sadly, dino doesn't remember his parents' names. They died when he was so young he still called them mama and dada and didn't know their real names. Then maybe he’ll call the rock just that. A mix of mama and dada. Mada. well, that doesn't really sound right. Mado. yes! That was it. Mado. It was a perfect name. Easy to pronounce and the name wasn't just a description like space rock or rocky. Dino felt that he and mado would go on great adventures together.

Dino couldn't tell if he viewed mado as a friend or a parental figure. Yes, mado's name is a mix of mama and dada but he also wanted to have a friend. But that was pretty hard since dino and mado couldn't talk plus mado didn't do anything besides move around in space. Actually, now that dino thought about it, dino doesn't remember having friends. He thought he had friends when he was able to speak but not really. He only had his brother and sister. So maybe mado was like a sibling. Who needs friends when you have family. But mado didn't run around, play, or make jokes with dino like a friend or sibling would. Mado acted more like a parental figure. A guardian. Mado saved dino and now Dino feels that Mado will protect him from any other threats along the way.

Dino felt relieved. He had answers to most of his questions. Yes, they were all theories, but he liked the theories, He liked having a parent again. Something he hadn't had in years.

Dino had a long long day and decided to call it a night. Day? You couldn't really tell in space. Either way dino felt tired so he decided to go to sleep. Dino made himself comfortable in one of Mado's holes, using it as a nest. It felt oddly comfortable even though mado was made of rock. He could still feel the warmth from the red and orange plasma. Dino should also figure out a name for that as well. It was so beautiful and yet so destructive and cool. Whatever it was, Dino loved it. It was fierce just like what every other dino thought he was. Fierce? Could that be its name? Again, dino decided to configure the word to find a name. Firce? That was a cool name but sounded more like the name for a person than an object. Now that dino thought about it, that name sounded familiar. He just couldn't remember where he heard it from. fire? Yes, that was it. A name taken from the word fierce, perfectly describing the fire. Fire was beautiful, mesmerizing, warm, and comforting.

As dino fell asleep he imagined all the fun adventures he would have with mado. He liked having a parental figure, or at least someone he can just hang out with. Being alone for almost his whole life was terrible, but he finally found a friend/parent/sibling, and with that dino drifted off to sleep.
