Chapter 3: Guardian

Chapter 3: Guardian

I’m in the middle of a gigantic hall, surrounded by tens to hundreds of people naked…

As I quickly tried to cover everything I can and sat down on the ground, I thought,

WHAT ELSE COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!?

The moment I thought those words, I regretted it dearly.

The reason is because right when I thought of them, I felt a gaze was examining every inch of my body.

When I followed the gaze, it came from the really old man with a white beard.

His magic robe was blue with many golden lines, it was really long and it even covered his shoes. His magic staff looked like it was made of really old wood, but it still looked sturdy with an egg sized blue gem on top.

He was examining me with a red face, which made me even more embarrassed.

I seriously felt I was dying of shame.

And suddenly I my chest felt painful.

I looked down and I saw the end of a spear through my chest.

I looked back and I saw a soldier.

The soldier was clad in armour like one of the ordinary guards.

The man instantly took off all his armour to show a man wearing black clothes from head to toe. The only part of him that was not covered was his eyes and it showed he had blue eyes with light skin like the other people here. He instantly armed himself with two daggers and dashed towards the third and youngest of the three to the left of the king who looked like he was only 12.

I just sat there watching him with a spear in my chest.

It seems he’s an assassin, but due to him already exposing himself to attack me, the other guards had time to react and they skewered him before he could even reach his target.

I looked at the bloody scene and didn’t really feel anything.

I looked at the spear in my chest and other than a slight bit of pain, I didn’t even feel like it mattered.

The only feeling I had, was still embarrassment and shame from being naked.

Am I abnormal?

Isn’t it normal for people to be disturbed or disgusted by the bloody scene of a man being skewered and then having his head cut off?

Isn’t it common sense for a person with a spear in their chest to drop dead on the spot?

Yet here I am, sitting here alive, without a single ounce of emotion to the bloody scene nor dying from a spear in the chest.

What am I?

Who am I?

My mind seriously went into a panic.

I had no idea what was going on.

I was rummaging through everything in my leftover memories of common sense to find out what is going on.

Why do I lack emotions?

Why am I still alive?

In order to try to find answers to these questions, I quickly looked through my own memories.

I tried to dig deeper in my mind, but when I even tried even a little, my head started hurting.

It kept getting worse and worse, as if something or someone was trying to stop me with all their might.

as the pain became too much to bear, I fell unconscious.

(In a dark room with a only a small table and one door, two men were conversing about what has just happened in the royal court)

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Hahaha, the second prince’s “Guardian” now has a hole in its chest. Even though the assassin failed to kill the second prince, this should make it much easier in the future.” (man1)

“Are you sure the information is accurate?”(man2)

“I had sent my closest aid to the scene to watch it happen. It must be true.”(man1)

“Hahahaha, this’ll make our plans progress much easier.”(man 2)

Suddenly, a third man quickly opened the door, came in and locked it.

His face looked grim and he was breathing heavily.

“What’s wrong?”(man 1)

“You’re not going to believe this, but that “Guardian” is fine…” (man 3)

“WHAT!? DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THE ASSASSIN STABBED A HOLE IN IT’S CHEST!?” (man 1)

“Oh he did alright, but it wasn’t even fazed by it. When the king’s soldiers pulled out the spear in its chest, it was still fine and the hole slowly closed itself. Nothing came out of its chest and afterwards, when they tried to communicate with it, it suddenly fainted.” (man 3)

“What in god’s name have they summoned…”(man 2)

“I don’t know, but this is not good…” (man 1)

The three men were all sweating profoundly at the new intel.

“Order the men to ignore the “Guardian” tell them to go for the second prince instead. Afterwards, get his dead body and immediately retreat.” (man 1)

“I guess that’s also an option, but we’ll take heavy losses…” (man 2)

“What other choice do we have? The “Guardian” didn’t die with a hole in its chest, what makes you think we can kill it by using poison or by cutting it into pieces?”(man 1)

“You’re right, we’ll have to take a gamble…” (man 2)

“Quickly, go inform the troops of the new plan.” (man 1)

“Yes sir, but why take the dead body?” (man 3)

“YOU FOOL! A “Guardian” can give their contractor their own life force and if it’s enough it can even revive a dead contractor from the dead. Why else did you think we ordered the assassin to go for the “Guardian” first! Now quickly GO!” (man 1)

“YES SIR!” (man 3)

As the third man ran out of the room, the other two had big beads of sweat on their foreheads.

“What in the world have they summoned!?” (man 1)

“I don’t know, but whatever it is… It’s not good for us, and maybe not for them nor the kingdom or maybe even the world itself.” (man 2)

“I hope you’re wrong because if you’re right… we may have just instigated the end of the world…” (man 1)

“I hope I am wrong too… we’re too deep in this to back out and if we do, they’ll catch our tail and we’ll die, so this is the only chance at survival…” (man 2)

“What have we gotten ourselves into…” (man 1)

Silence then filled the room.

(if you guys have questions ask, but I ain’t gonna answer em :V, if you say the protagonist is op, she currently is not yet. If you say she’s unkillable, she actually dies easier than a human, I did mention a little of what her “power” can do in prologue, but I did not mention anything about it so ^.^ HF screwing yourself over :D)
