Setting Bombs (Alyssa)

Setting Bombs (Alyssa)

I'm waiting there for around two and a half ours, with a set of four completed bombs, when I feel a shockwave below. I look down to see what might have caused them, there is nothing but a stream of bubbles leading up…

I turn to my right, nothing. Then turn to my left and nearly startle out of my skin when I see Elder Isis and another gentlemen in a borrowed dive suit both with their hands on the boat. When he sees me looking, the gentlemen give a small nod, then focuses back on the conversation he must be having with Puck. They spend five or so minutes mentally conversing before the gentleman swims over to my side.

"Hello, I'm Belenus. You must be Alyssa, are you ready to go?"

"Ready to go? How are we getting in?"

He smiles, like a teenager about to pull the most amazing stunt his friends have ever seen. "I'm a phoenix, we are going to transport to the locations Puck and Loki have identified for your bombs."

"Won't they see us teleporting in? I thought they wanted to avoid tripping the alarm?"

"Hestia had already hacked the ship by the time Belenus came to New Eden. They should see nothing," Elder Isis turns to Belenus, "Take care of her."

"Of course!" Before I can object to needing to be taken care of, he has grabbed my arm and surrounded us with flame.

You know that moment, when you get really dizzy and your head thinks you're falling but your body is like 'impossible, I can feel the floor'? Yeah, that's what pheonix teleportation feels like, but for that moment you are moving, you feel squeezed on all sides. Then you land, feet on the floor, in the same position you were in while your head is still reeling. Very disorenting. 2/5 stars, mostly for speed.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Belenus shifts his hand from my shoulder to my elbow to steady me. "One bomb, please." I hand him a bomb and double over trying to regain my equilibrium. He grabs my shoulder again and says "Hold on!" before whisking me away again. This time, I hand him a bomb before dropping to my knees in a fetal position. The second teleportation leaving me dizzy and nauseous.

As he is placing and setting the second bomb, an alarm starts blaring. He grabs me again and teleports us to the third location. I hand him the third bomb, and take a deep breath, before making my way to my feet. Remus is in this corridor somewhere. Just on the other side of the wall. I can feel it. I turn to tell Belenus, who is placing the bomb and setting the timer when I see a young woman in a lab over his shoulder with a mug of what smells like soup.

I pull the sword out of my bag, and she startles, taking a half step back. As I prepare to lunge, she says "Are you here for them?"

I hesitate, and Belenus startles out of what he was doing at the sound of her voice. "We are taking them with us." I say, my tone hard. She will not stop us, even if I have to kill her.

She take a step back to a speaker on the wall and presses a button. "This is Mary, code Alpha-three-four-eight. We have a false alarm on the fourth deck. Please cancel the alarm." The alarm turns off, and she cuts communication. Then she turns back to us, "good luck," she says backing through the hatch door.

Belenus grabs me before the hatch is even closed, and teleports me to the fourth location without warning. "Some warning would be nice," I sarcastically add while handing him the fourth bomb.

"Sorry," he mutters, still with that smile on his face. When he is done, he turns to me, holds out his hand, and says, "Give me the bag. I'm going to drop it and the sword during our next teleport."

I hand it to him. Damian and Remus might need it. He takes it in his right hand and holds is arm out like he is dropping something in a well. It surrounds with flames a moment before us and is gone before we land about three meters under Elder Isis. Belenus does not let go of my arm as he swims me up to where Elder Isis is. The moment he reaches her, we are enveloped in flames again.

This teleportation is longer. When I can bear to open my eyes again, I find myself standing next to Elder Isis in a New Eden air lock. Belenus is nowhere to be found.
