Zane spends the next week practicing with Dre. He learns to use his new senses, and how to enhance his strength and speed. He also practices using his new ability to communicate with animals.
One day, Dre comes into the training room and tells Zane to go outside. When he does, he finds that he can no longer move as fast or as far as he could before. He's still able to travel, but he's limited in distance and speed.
"So what happened?" Zane asks.
"It's just a temporary setback. I told you that you'd need to train your body to accept these new changes. It's going to take some time for your body to adapt to them, and for you to learn how to control them. You're progressing well though, and you're already able to travel further and faster than you were before. Keep up the good work, and I expect great things from you in the future."
"Thank you, Dre. I appreciate your help."
"It's my job" Dre says.
Zane leaves the training grounds and heads back to his room. He has a meeting with Kael later that evening, so he decides to practice with his new abilities. He starts off by trying to talk to the animals, but it seems like they don't understand him. Then he tries to listen to their thoughts, but he can only pick up on one or two at a time. Finally, he tries to sense their emotions. They seem to be happy, but they also seem to be worried. He tries to push away the worries, but he's unable to concentrate on anything else.
He feels sick, and his head spins. He collapses to the ground and falls asleep.
When Zane awakes, he's lying in his bed, and Dre is sitting beside him.
"You overstimulated yourself and ended up falling asleep this time." Dre says. "That was your third time doing that today. You need to learn how to control your abilities, and to limit your exposure to new stimuli. You need to learn to shield your mind from other creatures thoughts." In certain cases it's not wrong to read your opponents mind but until you have greater mastery over the new stimuli I'm instating a new rule. From now on when going into your enlightened state you may only use 25% of your power.
"Alright, I'll try to keep myself from getting overwhelmed." Zane says.
"Good. Now, we're going to continue your training, and I want you to focus on enhancing your physical abilities. You should be able to go an entire days training without - Dre pauses for a moment and begins to cough violently. He then gasps for air and clutches his chest. His face is bright red and he looks very ill.

"Are you alright?" Zane asks.
"Yes, I'm okay! Just give me a minute to catch my breath." Dre says.
Zane helps Dre sit down, and Dre continues to breathe heavily. After a few minutes, Dre's color returns to normal, and he appears to be fine.
"Sorry about that, I just wasn't feeling well." Dre says.
"Is there something I can do to help?" Zane asks.
"No, I'm fine. Just... forget it, ok?."
Dre stands up and leaves the room. Zane watches him leave, and wonders why Dre looked so sick. He gets dressed and goes to his meeting with his sister Kael.
Afterwards, he practices with his new abilities. He's able to increase his strength and speed, but he can't figure out how to change the way he talks to animals. He thinks he might be able to learn to speak with animals, but he's not sure. He trains all day, and goes to bed exhausted.
The next day, he wakes up early and heads to the training grounds. He's excited to see that he can feel the animals' emotions, but he's also scared. He doesn't know if he can handle the intensity of their feelings.
He begins by trying to listen to the animals' thoughts, but he quickly realizes that he's not able to understand what they're saying.
He then tries to talk to them, but he can't form words.
"I think I'm going to need more practice before I can do this," Zane says.
"Yes, I imagine you will. However, it's not enough to simply hear the animals thoughts. You need to be able to understand them as well. Your mind must become accustomed to the new stimuli."
"How long does it usually take?" Zane asks.
"Most people are able to do it after a couple years of training. But you've been working on it for three weeks now. That means you're ahead of schedule."
"That's good news." Zane says.
"Yes, it is. But you still have a lot of work to do. There's no rush though, you can take your time. If you find you aren't able to master the ability, you can always stop."
"Thanks, Dre. I appreciate your help."
"It's my job" Dre says.
Zane leaves the training grounds and goes to meet with Kael.
Afterwards, he goes to the training grounds and starts to practice again. He focuses on strengthening his body and enhancing his speed.
As he practices, he notices that he's starting to get tired, and he isn't able to perform as well as he did yesterday. He knows that it's because of his new 25% limiter, but he's not sure how to deal with it.
He trains all day, and goes to bed exhausted.
The next morning, he wakes up early and heads to the training grounds. He's eager to start practicing again, but he's nervous. He has a lot to learn, and he's afraid he won't be able to keep up the pace he's been going at.
"Don't worry, Zane. You're doing great so far. You're making progress every day, and I'm impressed. You're even faster than you were yesterday."
"I hope I can keep it up." Zane says.
"You will. I believe in you."
Zane thanks Dre and heads to the training grounds. He begins to train with his new abilities, and soon finds that he's able to enhance his speed even further. Breaking the sound barrier multiple times over, he feels like he's flying. However, he quickly becomes fatigued. He's able to go several hours without tiring, but he knows he needs to rest when he reaches that point. He continues to practice, and spends the rest of the day resting.
