Seven figures were raiding the wine cellar, four of them grinning broadly, while the three witches snickered among each other.
"You could have done this soul liberation for us, you know? Imagine how powerful we would all be!"
Esmeralda complained, Agatha sighing as she did so.
"Different from Morgana here and her beauty spell, I can't control what the soul release does. It basically takes your powers and the word you give up, mixes it and then grants you your new form. That's how we got these four to turn into even more horrifying monsters than they were before. It's basically the thing that turn people into those monsters we find every once in a while, but controlled enough to not tear the soul apart while doing it."
She explained, the horsemen, now actually owning horses thanks to the stables that were within the cathedrals walls, watching her with a sense of curiosity.
"Are we the first you tested this on?" Mia asked, prompting a quick change of topic.
"I didn't know they had this good a wine, but I guess where else but in the cities biggest church would the good stuff be stored?" Morgana wondered as noir threw her used charm back at her.
"True, and thanks for the spell, it made it a lot easier to sneak in, though I will be a bit more careful on who I absorb from now on. I still can't believe I turn into this hulk whenever I relax, I worked on my looks for years, only to be disturbed by the whole apocalypse thing. How is it for you?"
Marc grinned as he looked down on his body.
"I love it, you won't believe how comfortable a thinner body can be, especially when it requires much fewer nutrients to function. Though, the alcohol takes too long to take effect for my taste."
Johan furrowed his brows at that, seeming as impressive as ever. With the golden sheen of his skin.
"Be happy you still get to get drunk, I am somehow immune to alcohol, and it's getting annoying at this point."
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
He grumbled, filling another round for everyone.
"Two of us look like monsters, conquest is on the way to becoming some type of golem, and here I am, with those thrice cursed horns and red skin. You wouldn't believe how heavy they weigh on my head. At least I am still hot, different from you wannabe villains."
Noir interjected at that, changing his form to that of the gorilla he absorbed, replacing the head with that of the leading priest.
"Isn't this the ultimate male form? They told me it was the body of a beast and the head of a Wiseman that make up a true man."
This made some of them chuckle.
"I should probably remember that when some man asks me to make him look perfect, I bet he'll be very pleased for looking like a crippled Bigfoot." Morgana offered, more chuckles following.
"So, what do we do next? We could take the other churches next, I bet they are open to a surprise attack for a few days from now." Conquest answered, really getting into his role, before Marc shook his head.
"I think we should consolidate our power and get ready to be a bit more defensive, maybe cast some ritual stuff around this area."
He offered, Mia agreeing with him.
Noir took a piece of paper out of his tattered trench coat.
"After moving our stuff here, we should get ready to take on the police and other administrative organizations. One of them brought us an ultimatum a while ago, though the rise of churches probably forced their hand somewhere else. Once we have established ourselves, an attack on them will secure our position as a major power, if we attack city hall, we get access to a lot of documents and enough publicity to finally start actively recruiting, maybe even contact other cities. Who would have thought the apocalypse would wait until the fall of the super nations? This is the best possible situation for us, if we approach it right." He said, returning to the form of his original body, grease holding even now as he looked at the paper meaningfully.
None of them knew that it was empty, and instead decided to celebrate.
"We can plan tomorrow. We have at least one shelf to empty, don't you think?" Esmeralda asked, raising her glass to incite another round of drinking, everyone grinning as they did the same.
"First this city, then the world!" Johan shouted, sipping on his glass.
"We will show those sinners what hell really looks like." Mia agreed, doing the same.
"We decide who lives and dies, because we are the herald of societies downfall." Marc shouted, the implication of that day's actions dawning upon everyone as they got drunk on power and wine alike.
"The world will be the way we decree, evolution will bow to our might, as we turn this world into what it was meant to be."
Noir said, doing his best posturing as they all downed their glass at once.
"And next time, we raid something with anything good to drink. How is an entire church devoid of vodka and beer? Back when I still went to church groups, there were places filled with the good stuff." Asked Johan, disappointed at the selection before him.
Noir did his best epic gesture as he ascended upon the barrel they had placed their glasses on.
"Brother, your heritage shows. But remember that even after the fall, we still live in America, where there is no sex on TV and you can't drink beer until you are 21. Though both of those things are probably no longer a problem, now that the whole law enforcement thing is busy defending their own lives from abominable monstrosities."
The night ended in laughter, as each receded into a free room, many unoccupied after the battle.
