Noir sighed.
"Ok, I hate to tell you this, Mia, but as you might have guessed from events like the gigantic monster from before, magic is real. Marc over here has read every book in this room and can probably teach you the basics, though most of that process is reading and interpretation of those books to draw your own wisdom from."
He explained as they entered his shop.
"I have very little experience with fire spells myself, as most of my magic ways have always been in analyzing the dead, creating chimaeras and tokens of magic. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. If you don't understand something, just ask me. I will be quite busy creating more chimaeras and trying to predict the future because that's what I do best."
Noir smiled, both his students listening, Mia just enjoyed the exposition while Marc tried to learn something new from the words of his teacher.
"With which book should I start?"
Mia asked, prompting Noir to think for a second before procuring two rather simple tomes, originally made as a translation of a guide to deal with fire, formulated with his typical flowery words, and a guide on how to deal with really sleezy employers and traders, to make sure one isn't fooled.
He named them 'how to deal with hells' and 'devil deals and how to avoid them' back when he wrote them, never expecting them to actually one day come in handy for anything but the reading plesure of edgy teens.
Then, he went outside to get more bodies to use, warper always right behind him as he apprached a nest of wasps he was too lazy to get checked by someone in that summer. He knew it would be the ultimate reality check. He would either take control or their stings would be enough to get him into a hospital, where people would help him with his problems.
He had the money for an ambulance with him, he always made sure to have a bit of money for emergencies, thus, he was capable of once again acting fearless as they approached the buzzing nest, the wasps approaching him and buzzing as he unleashed the chaotic burst of power upon the beasts, causing most of them to fall immediately, their flesh twisting and bulging.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
He did not even need to wait as they began to die, forming a connection with those who survived the first mutation and having them crawl atop his body before slowly leading them back to the shop. When he arrived, he saw Marc slowly helping Mia work through the book, the fiery girl trying hard to focus, as everything around her somewhat drew at her attention, and all the new things and situations made her mind wander. After every site, both would discuss the meaning of the written words. Noir loomed behind them for a second, listening as they discussed the meaning of something simple once again.
'Do never unleash the tongues of hell without control. They are chaotic and destructive in nature.'
A simple sentence, warning a person to not leave a fire unattended, now agreed by both of his students to warn them of dealing with demons and infernal flames, a distinction he made in his 'devil deals and how to avoid them' book.
The main point of that book was to rant about snake oil salesmen and sleezy corporations, which he dubbed devils, and compare them to rabid animals, titled as demons. He called demons a force of chaos more than a force of evil, while devils were absolutely vile for their own gain.
He then went on to work with the wasps, ever more dying as the mutations ran rampant.
He made them crawl on his table and put a tome describing the biology of fireflies next to them.
He quickly changed the backside of those wasps into the bioluminiscend organ of a firefly and changed their colour palette to be as efficient with reflecting light as a firefly would be.
He worked for hours to make it look right, and many wasps dying as he accidentally damaged parts he did not expect.
Finally, he had what he searched for, firefly like wasps, their entire body made to glow to its maximum effect. Proudly, he put the finishing touches upon it, allowing the bug in the centre to glow as brightly as possible. The other wasps did not change their stinger, though the venom within was refind to the best of his abilities and studying many different animals in his various books to optimize it, resulting in an effect that would render the target incapable of movement, without a risk of killing them, optimizing the creature to completely impair a human with only four stings.
Finally, he gathered the swarm in a single place, the highly venomous wasps now reflecting light like disco balls, and the light source at the centre allowing for maximal illumination. Then, he focussed his other spirit inside, freeing up his connection to the wasps and letting the whisp of fate slip into them, the swarm immediately taking on a somewhat humanoid shape.
"With the power of two familiars, one optimized to stun my enemies, while another delivers me the flesh of my foes, and the support of my apprentices, we are ready for whatever may come."
