Chapter 10 : Thank you Senior Grace

Chapter 10 : Thank you Senior Grace

Taf walked on after seeing the crowd continued shouting of someone wanting to sign up with the gym. Knowing he wanted no inclusion in the whole thing he made his way towards a book store which was his original plans for the day.

The bookstore looked quite cozy from the outside. like a cottage in the woods, it gave off the feeling of warmth on your very arrival on the inside.

When he was inside he saw an elderly lady who seemed close to the end of her life. She drank a cup of tea as she watched the few patrons selecting books.

He looked around the store seeing a wide variety of books. There were seemingly books for all purposes. There were books on numerous shelves with advice on cooking recipes, romance, history, adventure, basically anything you could think of.

Seeing his curious gaze on the bookshelves and the fact that he seemed small and wet behind the ears. The elderly lady made her way over to his direction as she had seen many children on their first time entering being bewildered on what they should try reading.

" Young one you seem to be looking for something, maybe this old one might be of some help to you," she asked while smiling.

"There are a variety of books which you can choose from here at my bookstore. Allow me to guide you on the process of proper selection."

"I suggest something on the adventurous side of the world. Something filled with intrigue that will open up your imagination to see the world in a new light" she continued.

Seeing the warmth she showed he smiled and responded.

" Yes, indeed I am looking for something to read senior. I have been curious about cultivation and also about adventures outside of the city. If you could honor me with your advice I would be truly grateful."

Seeing his politeness the elderly lady's smile became even warmer.

"In regard to information about cultivation, I am embarrassed to say there are minimal written materials in this store."

A disappointed look started to show on Tafari's face as he heard the reply. Seeing this the elderly lady continued on by stating

" I said minimal young one, not none. In fact, I might have something perfect for you."

"In my archive in the back room of the store where the old and discard reading material are kept, there is a journal."

" This journal was written by an old friend of mine that documented his life as a servant of a cultivator. "

"Knowing he was dying and wanting to pass on the information of his life and its contents, the journal was given to me."

A smile started to blossom as Tafari heard the elderly lady's speech on the existence of the journals of her old friend.

"He specifically stated that it should be given to one young that thirsted for information and had an adventurous mind. You seem to fit the build, don't you? "

She winked and pinched his little cheeks warmly.

"There aren't that many as young as you that visit the store anymore. It is a great sight to see that you are filled with the desire for knowledge. So I have taken a liking to you and will do something for you."

"You remind me of my son when he was your age. So maybe it is the fate for you to have this as it is of no use in my old hands."

She stated as while reminiscing of the past as spoke.

She then headed to the back of the store in a small room and when she came back she had a brown small book in her hands.

Then looked down and sighed as she held the book and look at the youth.

"Old friend I have fulfilled what you wished from me on that day".

When she arrived before him she started to smile while putting the book in his hand.

" As this was a request of a friend, this journal will be given to you freely. However, you must promise me to take care of it like you spent your whole fortune on it."

"It might not seem much but sometimes these little things are worth more to a dying man than the fortunes of the world."

"This journal of his life was his most prized possession and the proudest and most disappointing moments of his life."

Tafari looked at the elderly lady and a serious look appeared on his face.

"This one knows and will honor that senior's life and journey, I promise to take the best of care of his work."

He bowed and vowed sincerely to the elderly lady.

She smiled as she saw his sincerity as he spoke. She took a liking to this child the more he spoke it seemed.

" Then I have not to be mistaken in my choice in selecting you."

"This old one's surname is Grace" she continued as she spoke her name.

" If you ever want to come back and open your mind to more knowledge, my store doors will be open."

"Thank you Senior Grace" He bowed once more after receiving the journal.
