Impulse.

I couldn’t quite understand what was happening to me. It felt like I was in a fog, with my senses dulled and my mind clouded. But as I continued to move forward, strange sensations began to fill me. My vision seemed sharper, and I could see details that I had never noticed before. My hearing was more acute, and I could hear sounds that had been too faint for me to perceive before.

As I looked down at my hands, I noticed that they were different too. They seemed stronger, and my fingers were longer and more slender than before. I flexed my hands experimentally, and the muscles rippled smoothly beneath my skin.

My heart was beating more slowly than it should have been, and I felt a strange, cool energy coursing through my veins. It was like nothing I had ever felt before, and it left me feeling both exhilarated and terrified.

And then, a sudden realization hit me like a lightning bolt. The creatures I had fought before, the ones that had torn me apart and left me for dead...had they infected me with their blood? Was I turning into one of them? The thought filled me with horror, and I stumbled backwards, almost losing my footing.

As I assessed my situation, a sense of dread overtook me. Despite my desperate attempts to halt my movement, my body continued to follow the other creatures, as if under some kind of spell. My attempts to turn around or slow down were futile, and I felt like a prisoner in my own body.

My eyes and head were the only parts that seemed to obey my thoughts, while the rest of my body moved involuntarily, as if it were disconnected from my brain.

Were the monsters around me also being controlled in the same way? Were they once ordinary people who had undergone the same transformation that I had?

The memory of the gas station flashed through my mind, of the dying creature that had looked almost human. It was clear that they were once vulnerable beings like me, now trapped in massive bodies without any choice.

Perhaps even my neighbor was among these creatures?

Suddenly, a distinct pulsation interrupted my thoughts, and I felt an overwhelming urge to move forward. Something was calling me, and my whole being was compelled to obey.

Despite my desperate desire to stop and escape this nightmare, a vague but powerful force drove me forward, and hundreds of creatures moved in the same direction.

What kind of being could control such a vast army of monsters? The thought left my head throbbing with pain as I struggled to comprehend my situation.

All I wanted was to stop, to escape the horror of what I had become, but the call was too strong. It consumed me, body and soul, and led me towards an unknown destination.

Despair washed over me like a tidal wave, and I felt like I was drowning in a sea of helplessness.

And yet I felt a sense of detachment from what was happening around me. It was as if I was watching myself from afar, and the awareness of my own actions was unbearable. I became a monster, a cannibal, a murderer.

I recalled how, having turned into a monster, I had pushed aside other creatures to attack my neighbor, who fought back with his bloody stumps. I had sunk my teeth into his flesh and ripped it apart, reveling in the warm blood and the taste of raw meat.

I slowly but surely recalled the violence and carnage that unfolded before my eyes. Nothing was forgotten, everything that happened seemed to be imprinted on my retina. I couldn’t change what I had done. I could not get rid of the horror and pain that I had inflicted on my savior.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

And yet, even as I was consumed by guilt and self-loathing, a part of me still longed for the taste of flesh and the rush of violence. It was a sickening realization, one that made me want to tear myself apart.

I was trapped in this body, in this existence, and there was no escape from the horror of what I had become. As I looked up at the creatures before me, I wondered if they would sense the fear and the despair that consumed me. Would they know that I was different, that I was not one of them? Would they sense the guilt and the shame that weighed me down like a leaden cloak?

I didn’t know. All I knew was that I was alone, trapped in a body that was not my own, consumed by a hunger that I could not control. And no matter what I did, no matter how much I tried to change, I would always be a monster.

Having driven the dark thoughts that were devouring me alive into the corners of my stunted mind, I began to explore myself.

I marveled at my newfound strength, wondering if I could take on any of the creatures around me. I flexed my muscles, feeling the explosive energy coursing through them. It was like having an arsenal of weapons at my disposal, more than just the simple needle-bones. I could tear through the earth with a single push of my paws, and the creatures around me barely noticed my observant eyes.

As I looked up, I saw that instead of the sky, there was a tunnel with smooth edges stretching out above me. It was reminiscent of the tunnels in my hometown, but this one was different. It was vast, and I couldn’t see the end of it.

The sound of a broken flute filled the air, and I felt a deep sense of discomfort. It was as if I was returning to the past, and now, not only could I hear the hateful sound, but I could also make it. I had become a freak, but at least I had become stronger. This thought gave me some sense of comfort amidst the confusion and chaos around me.

I began to think of my priorities. If I could escape the control of the unknown mind, I could search for traces of my parents and sister, and perhaps even kill those who had taken them from me. But as I tried to plan, I realized that I was still being controlled, even in my thoughts. It was as if someone was planting ideas in my mind, and I couldn’t tell whether they were my own or not. It was a strange feeling, and one that made me deeply uneasy.

As the feeling of the pulse grew stronger, I felt that I had to increase my speed. I wasn’t sure what exactly I was going to do, but I knew that I had to act fast. The unknown force was becoming more and more powerful, and I didn’t want to be caught in its grasp for too long.

With one push of my paws, I tried to accelerate, the creatures around did not pay attention to me.

As the claws lengthened, thinning and breaking through the ground, I felt a searing pain shoot through my body. The long arms rested on the ground and sprouted needle-like bones closer to the palms. The same needles came out of the hind legs, but stronger. I gritted my teeth and tried to push through the agony, focusing on the sensation of flying rather than the physical discomfort.

With each movement, the elastic spikes closer to my palms acted like hooks, anchoring me to the earth, while the ones on my hind legs helped me keep my balance and stand more firmly with each landing. It was like having a powerhouse at my disposal, ready to run for miles without fatigue or thirst.

When I looked around, hoping to see the same transformation in other creatures, I came across strange and incomprehensible expressions on their faces. They watched me, a newly converted idiot, gallop down the tunnel, leaving them behind.

I had always been afraid of heights and didn’t enjoy rides, but now I had made myself a free ticket to a flight among monsters. The sensation of pain had subsided, replaced by a sense of euphoria. But still, some part of me firmly obeyed the distant call.

As I continued to run, the feeling of euphoria intensified and I felt invincible. With a sudden surge of confidence, I turned to attack the nearest monster, but my attempt was immediately stopped. The creature’s reaction was faster than I could have expected, and it caused me to fall to the ground.

While I was trying to get to my feet, I heard the call getting stronger. It seemed that every second the call penetrated deeper into my consciousness. It was like a primal impulse that made me run to him faster and faster.

The tunnel blurred around me as I ran, and the call grew stronger with every step. I felt my body changing again, becoming even stronger, and my heart was filled with excitement. I didn’t know what path lay ahead of me, but I was ready for anything.
