"So your dog's becoming a robot? That sounds so cool. With wires and everything?"

"Y... Yes, uhm- m-my mommy says Spot's going to get a new leg..."

"Yaaaaaay!"

Verness Orange was in the waiting room, just contently speaking with a little boy whose dog was escorted to the hospital. A morbid situation, really, but Orange was reacting with unsettling amounts of joy at the thought of the dog "becoming a cyborg" with a fake leg.

In fact, every one of the Vernesses were just randomly spread throughout the waiting room, actually, just chatting with random strangers that were waiting for their appointments.

Yellow was speaking with the friend of a college student experiencing an epileptic seizure, Cyan and Green were both talking with a biker who broke both of their arms, Blue seemed to be quietly staring at a man whose entire face was covered in bandage wraps after having scalding water splashed into his face, Purple has fallen asleep alongside a sleeping old man, and Monochrome was reading comic books with a girl in a motor scooter.

For Verness Red, this... "hospital socializing" didn't come as easy to her. She was quietly sitting in a chair as the other Vernesses were chatting, having contently sat in her chair for as long as Quade, Peritzal, and Odette have been gone.

So... about one minute.

"..." Verness Red gets up and walks to the receptionist's desk, eating her spicy cheddar fry chips. She looks around the hospital itself, then looks up at the massive wall that was the desk, too short to even look over it.

"Ah- hello, little girl-" the receptionist from earlier speaks, getting up and looking over the desk.

"U... Uhm, h-hi..." Verness Red timidly responds, looking away from the receptionist. "I- I, uhm, I'm- responsible if there are any updates with our friends... so..."

"Well- they're still in the middle of treatment, so no updates. Sorry-" the receptionist responds, before the phone rings. Her attention off of Verness as she goes to answer the phone.

"Oh... s... so c-can we go check on th... them...?"

The receptionist was too focused on the call to pay Verness any mind.

Thus, without a response, the little girl lets out a sad little noise. A worried whimper of concern. "... okay... I- I'll go... find them then..." she tells the receptionist, before starting to walk along in the hospital. Wandering off on her own, just strolling along.

"...?" Verness Orange looks over to see Red walking off on her own, getting up as well. "Oh, hold on, Red Me's going on an adventure..."

Looking back to the now owner of a cyborg dog, the orange dressed girl nods. "Good luck with your cyborg dog!"

"T-Thanks...! I- I'll tell Spot you said hi!" the little boy responds to Orange.

Verness Orange then contently begins walking after Red, waddling after.

In sequential order, the others start to pick up on Red and Orange heading deeper into the hospital, in search of Giichi and the others.

"Well... I hope your friend gets better soon, wish her the best," Verness Yellow speaks to the college student, as she gets up from her seat and walks after Orange.

"U-Uhm, well, uh- hope y-you stay safe and all-" Verness Cyan begins to say to the broken-armed biker. "A-And maybe- maybe don't do wheelies in the city...? I- I get the- I get the hustle, but..."

"Safety!" Verness Green spontaneously exclaims.

"Y-Yeah, so-" The two of them begin running off after Yellow.

Verness Blue quietly looks up at the bandaged man, and gives a nod of acknowledgement. The man nods back, giving the kid a thumbs up, and then she quietly walks after Cyan and Green.

As the old man wakes up, he sees the spider girls starting to walk off. "... h... hey- lil' miss, your- your sisters..." he weakly calls out to Purple, tapping her shoulder to wake her up.

Verness Purple flutters her eyes awake, and... lets out a yawn, starting to walk off as well- looking around for a moment and walking over to the last Verness in the waiting room.

"N-No! Wait- I need to know what happens to Soda Pop Dude-!" Verness Monochrome exclaims to Purple, being pulled away from the comic book lover.

One by one, the Vernesses waddle along past the receptionist - with Monochrome being dragged away - and trail after Verness Red, in search of where the other four were being treated.

Heading down these long hallways with a ton of doors, the girls wander about. The first floor was dedicated to emergency response, with rooms for the really messed up people who need immediate help. Each door that wasn't some kind of surgery had a window, so... the four of them should be somewhere here.

To overcome the height differences between the girls and the door windows, the Vernesses employ the use of something that causes a bit of panic from the passing people in the hallways... spider legs.

Out of their backs, spider legs manifest, and the girls climb up the doors with them. Having demonstrated their capabilities countless times, with the more recent case of scaling up building walls while carrying Quade and Peritzal, they contently just climb up and peek into random hospital doors.

"Open heart surgery," Verness Yellow speaks first.

"Kidney transplant," Verness Cyan calls out.

"Oh, wow! Surgically removing a tire from-" Verness Monochrome exclaims, before narrowing her eyes. "Oh, no, this is just the door to the ambulance place..."

It was about when they got to the 8th door that a doctor- approaches them, an eyebrow raised. "E-Excuse me! Little girls, can you stop looking into doors and calling out what's happening inside?!"

Verness Red lets out an "e-eep!" as the man startles her, falling over from the operation room to perform brain surgery.

"S-Sorry, we're just- looking for our fr- friends and- uhm- w-we want to know they're okay..." Verness Red speaks up.

"Well, you can't just come back here without a-" the doctor exclaims, before narrowing his eyes. "... okay. Okay. Fine. You all are lucky I don't feel like hurting children. Who are you looking for...?"

Verness Cyan answers first, for the group. "We're looking for four people who were poisoned."

"... oh, you're the girls from the- that's a coincidence," the doctor speaks up, nodding. "I'm one of their doctors. Since you're here- well, we've- came across some issues. They're still alive but- uhm... well- we faced some complications that our hospital equipment are too weak to handle."

"Complications?" Cyan asks.

"Well- we have them hooked up to respirators. Because they ingested poison through 'iced tea', according to the brown haired girl, we needed to-" The doctor hesitates, keeping in mind that these were children. "... make them barf to get it out. So far so good?"

"Okay..." Cyan noises, the other girls nodding and listening.

"Since they're- unconscious from the poison itself, it appears to be a strong acting one. We needed to check their blood, see if we can find the chemical itself. The first issue was the purple haired girl-"

"The alien," Verness Yellow speaks up.

"Right, the alien, we tried finding veins to-" The doctor blinks for a moment, staring at Yellow saying this. "... w... what?"

"The alien. She's an alien," Yellow further explains.

"M-Mhmm... so there's no veins to... find the blood for..." Red mumbles.

"..."

A complete silence between them, with hospital background noise to accompany this moment.

The... doctor just begins walking to the room in question. "Girls, please come with me, I'm taking you to your friends to help out. When we get to the room, don't look at anyone else in there, okay?"

"O-Okay-!" Red exclaims, as the Vernesses begin to follow the doctor.

The doctor leads the Vernesses along to where the others were kept, a "public ward" with dozens of patients, the doctor quickly escorts the little girls to the four.

"Oooh..."

"Wooooah..."

"W-What did I say about not looking at anyone...?!" the doctor briefly scolds the children, before continuing to lead them deep into the ward.

Several doctors and nurses see the spider girls following after the doctor. "H-Hey! You can't be in here, this-!"

All nine of them make it to Papaya, Nyx, Caspian, and Giichi. The four of them still unconscious, with heart beat monitors and all- some doctors and nurses checking on their vitals and making sure they were alive.

Quickly, the doctor with the Vernesses orders them to move, standing right at Papaya's bed and looking at her. "Okay- okay. Alien-" the doctor repeats. "This one's an alien. What do we need to know, little girls?!"

"U-Uhm, instead of- blood, she- her body is kinda like electricity!" Cyan frantically answers. "Throughout her body like jelly, jello- and, uhm, h-her skin can go transparent. I-It happens sometimes when, uh, P-Peritzal does a thing with her tablet, and-"

"Tch- defibrillator!" the doctor shouts, as- a nurse quickly moves. The doctor takes the pads, rubs quickly, and shouts: "Clear!" Shocking Papaya's chest.

As the Vernesses have explained, Papaya - upon being electrically shocked - proceeds to have her skin shocked into a translucent purple. The doctor looking- astonished as Papaya's inner organs were now displayed, able to see the flow of static sparks passively in her body.

"O-Oh, her skin's a little faded...!" Red exclaims. "I-It's usually more vibrant, the- the poison must be affecting her entire mass..."

"I- I see! Doctors, IV packs, stat!" the doctor exclaims, instructing them to go get those packs as he looks over Papaya. "O-Okay- little girls, do you know where her stomach is?" the doctor asks.

"N-No-" Cyan immediately answers, shaking in panic. "U-Unless it's like a normal one, w-we don't know alien stomachs...!"

"Got it- you're doing good, you're doing good-" the doctor reassures Cyan to try and keep her calm in this emergency situation, before quickly- looking. "Let's move on. The one we're most worried about now is the white haired one. He's still breathing, but each second makes him look worse and worse-"

"He's a cloud," Purple lazily answers.

"... a c-cloud?!" the man shouts. "But that's a man- how-"

"Y-yes, a man! He's- he's a cloud man," Cyan quickly explains. "Looks like a man because-"

"Rainbow!" Green interjects.

"Uh- yes, Rainbow. Light, I guess- it's- it's a whole new species, let's just say that," Cyan answers. "S-So Caspian, the cloud man, doesn't need a respirator, he needs-"

"He needs steam rather than respirators...! Nurse, we need to prepare a sauna! Get one set up!" the doctor shouts, as a nurse leaves.

"S... Sauna?" Red asks, tilting her head.

"Used for physical therapy. Blood flow and muscle relaxation and all," the doctor immediately explains in summary, as he moves back to Papaya. It will be some time before Caspian's treatment will be ready, so... for the sake of saving her life, the doctor unbuttons the lower half of her shirt, pulling it open to expose where the stomach theoretically was.

Upon seeing where her... stomach... should be, his eyes narrow as... "U... Ugh... nothing like I've ever seen before-" he mumbles, squinting his eyes. "T-There's not enough information on her- I can't-!"

"Oh! W-We need her sister!" Orange exclaims, running out. "I'll get her!"

The doctor- watches Orange run off, and- takes a tense sigh...

... Red quickly climbing onto his back and patting his shoulders gently. Unusually, this- calms the doctor's nerves, relaxing him in this tense situation. "... uh- thank you," the doctor tells Verness, before turning his attention on a different patient for now...

... seeing three of the girls stacked into a tower. Verness Purple took a moment to stand next to Nyx's bed, and Verness Blue climbed onto her shoulders. After that, the doctor watches Verness Green climbs onto Blue's shoulders, and the two upper girls look at the devil knight.

"Okay- story with her?" the doctor asks. "We're told she can't handle sunlight, but that's all. We've extracted samples from her, and some- unknown substance is affecting it. See, it results in this- ugh- disgusting sight of blood just emanating some harmless substance into the air...

"Devil," Verness Green comments.

"... Devil?" the doctor asks.

"Devil," Green repeats.

"..." The doctor looks down at Verness Blue and Verness Purple. Respectively, Blue remains silent, while Purple seems too distant from the situation to even pay attention. "Uhm-"

"Sorry- they're the worst people to explain..." Verness Red begins to speak. "This woman's background is a woman with 'devil blood'. Think of a fantasy story where-"

"Oh, half demon?"

"N-No," Red explains, thinking. "Nyx- told us that she was a normal peasant... so beyond the fact her blood gives her the ability to sneak into shadows and stuff, she's just a human beyond that. S-so while she's unconscious, her body should be normal, beyond any poison..."

The doctor looks visibly relieved as he... he nods! Nyx is now the hospital's best shot to actually identify the poison for all of them! Quickly, he turns to a new nurse. "N-Nurse! Do we have samples of this woman's-" Hesitating. "... vomit?!"

The- the nurse nods, as the doctor was referring to how they had to use different containers when making the four simultaneously vomit. "I-It's being disposed of as we speak-!"

"Ugh, sh- uh- poop!" the doctor shouts, refraining from cussing as he looks back to Nyx...

... before- his eyes widen. "W... Wait... cloud man!" A realization hits him, as Caspian was a pure cloud species instead of human. "T-The substances in his body-! We have a direct, uncontaminated sample of the poison built up in his body amidst the condensed cloud material!"

The nurse returns as he makes this realization. "Sauna's prepared, Doctor, we-"

"Cancel the sauna!" the doctor shouts. "Get this man to the operation room, stat! If he's a cloud man, then-"

"He can regenerate i-if you give him a lot of water!" Cyan exclaims.

"Yes!" the doctor exclaims. "Nurse! Doctors! Now!"

A mass of them start to escort Caspian and his bed out of the ward- and, thus, the spider girls and the doctor were left with one more patient.

"So- with her-" the doctor begins to explain, tense. "We can't penetrate the skin with any of our scalpels or needles, nor does any of our technology pick up anything about this girl's organs. Thus, we have NO idea what's going on with this girl and her chances are the lowest out of all of them."

"A... Actually, that's because she's half dragon," Red explains.

The doctor raises an eyebrow. "What? Half dragon?"

"Yeah, so l-long story short, her skin's really tough-" Red explains. "Like this one time, when a bear shark fell out of the sky and she had to fist fight it to protect a baby duck pond!"

"..." The doctor tilts his head and raises an eyebrow at this absurd statement. Sheer disbelief on his face. "W... What?"

"Mhmm! A- A bear shark. Bear body, shark head," Verness Red explains. "S-So, its claws tried to rip her open and its jaws tried to chew her open, b-but, uhm, her skin is really tough... like, kinda like really hard scales. I-It's hard to really- explain... Rosemary usually explains this kind of stuff..."

The doctor was still recovering from the mental damage of a 'bear shark' existing, but then blinks. "... Rosemary?"

"T-The, uh, the dragon side- red eyes, red gas-" Verness Red explains. "S-She was the one screaming 'iced tea!' when running into the hospital... it's- her breath, so..."

The doctor... is guided to quickly remove Giichi's respirator, and the Vernesses move to check Giichi's breath. Giichi's breathing, but... there was a problem. Rosemary wasn't being breathed out.

"... Rosemary?" Verness Red asks, poking Giichi's cheek.

No response.

"... a-ah, the poison's affecting Rosemary too...!" Red noises, shaking in fear.

"No, nononono!" Cyan exclaims, standing on her tip toes and staring at Giichi. "T-That means the doctor's right, she's the one most in danger right now!"

Yellow quickly places her hands over Giichi's heart, trying to resuscitate the dragon girl by pumping her heart and lungs... but Giichi's body is too strong for any of that! It's not working and Giichi is...!

"A-Aaaah-! G-Giichi's gonna dieeee!" Red whines in fear, as the Vernesses present were panicking.

"Ghh! Not on our watch!" Monochrome shouts aggressively, climbing onto the bed to help Yellow. "Pump! Harder!"

"Going as fast as I can!" Yellow shouts, having her hands pressed against by Monochrome- the force causing Yellow to cringe in pain. "M-Monochrome, get your hands off of me, this isn't working!"

Monochrome- quickly nods, and pushes Yellow's hands off of Giichi. "Then we need to think about using our heads!" Turning to pick Cyan up and starting to lift her up, preparing to use the entirety of Verness Cyan's body as the battering ram version of CPR. "Ready! Set-!"

Yellow promptly pulls Cyan away from Monochrome, then pushes Cyan against Monochrome to knock the latter off the bed. "You are NOT helping!"

Purple and Blue are visibly scurrying around in panic, Green shouting repeatedly: "Emergency! Emergency!"

"Tch-!" the doctor noises, gritting his teeth. "E-Everyone, calm down, you've been doing great so far! Let's use our heads. We're face to face with a theoretically indestructible patient. Half dragon- meaning she's half human. Poison's affecting the human, now affecting the dragon."

"Right, right-!" Red noises, as the Vernesses were eagerly listening.

The doctor takes a deep breath as he stares at Giichi, thinking. "... you three, continue pacing about, walking helps you think-" he instructs the three spider girls.

Verness Green, Blue, and Purple following the doctor's instructions as they are now calmly walking around, the sound of their footsteps in synchrony.

The doctor and the seven spider girls really think, now, as time was of the essence. "..." His eyes narrowed, thinking his hardest. "A bear and a shark could not penetrate the skin, neither could our scalpels and such... this dragon girl's physical weaknesses... we have to think dragon..."

"Mhmm, mhmm-!" Red noises, as the seven girls begin to think fantasy... whatever that means.

The doctor really focuses his thoughts, taking a deep breath. "... okay, think fantasy, think fantasy logic... think..." Scratching his head, before... his eyes widen at a eureka moment. "Wait, okay. Invulnerable things. They have a selective weakness to something. Girls, what were the weaknesses of the other three?"

"So- Papaya h-had her body revealed by electrical stimulation to the heart..." Red quietly mumbles.

"Nyx is someone with devil's blood, weak to the sun and- well, possibly light in general..." Yellow mumbles next.

"Caspian is a cloud man, he's made of cloud..." Monochrome mumbles on the ground.

"Right. The reason the poison hurts is because it got past her skin, it was able to damage her organs somehow," the doctor comments. "A bear and a shark can't break past her skin, as you said. So what can? What exactly can hurt a dragon?"

"..." The spider girls look at the doctor, and- collectively tilt their heads.

The doctor clears up the confusion with his answer: "Itself."

"O-Ohhhhh!" the spider girls exclaim.

"Yes, so if we need to access her organs-" the doctor says, a- tense look on his face as he holds Giichi's hand to test this theory. "Girls- please look away for just one moment. I'm about to try and make an incision- a cut..."

The Vernesses nod and close their eyes, covering them with their hands. Well, except Monochrome, who just doesn't want to.

"..." The doctor's eyes widen as his theory's tested. "I-It worked!"

Monochrome blinks as she sits up, looking to see that the doctor has used Giichi's fingernail to slice the girl's shoulder. With careful precision, Giichi's shoulder now had a deep scratch in it!

Red gas flowing out of the shoulder, starting to rise to the ceiling-

"A-Ah!" The doctor quickly noises, putting Giichi's hand back and- placing his hands over the shoulder wound. "B-Bandages, we need bandages-!"

Quickly, Verness Red gets up, pulling the doctor's hand away as she spits on Giichi's shoulder.

"... uh-" the doctor noises, before his eyes widen.

Verness Red has spat spider silk onto Giichi's wound, the material sealing up the shoulder incision. Effectively, bandaging up Giichi's body immediately.

Quickly, Verness Green leaps into the air and scoops the gas into an empty jar she found, sealing it shut with the lid. "Containment!"

The doctor's eyes- widen at this, in visible astonishment.

"... you girls are lifesavers."

Verness Red- smiles brightly at the doctor, visibly excited. "R-Really? W-We helped?"

"Yes!" A proud smile as he looks to the Vernesses, his hand shaking a little as it- does feel a little numb from the gas. "B-Because of you four, we're on the way to saving your friends! On behalf of this hospital, I- I thank you all for your help!"

"Y... Yaaaaaay!" Verness Red exclaims, followed by cheering from the other Vernesses as the seven collectively raise their voices in joy and happiness.

"H-Hey, uhm, t-this is still a ward, quiet down a little with the celebration-" the doctor immediately speaks up, his smile a little hesitant after that.

And thus, the Vernesses all begin to quietly celebrate and do gentle little victory dances.

"..." The doctor's smile goes back to pride, just- basking in this moment for a bit. Taking a momentary break to mentally register that these four were now safe and sound.

Now- quickly, the doctor begins to leave. Ordering the doctors and nurses to keep watch as he leaves with the Vernesses, about to reunite with the supposed sister and the orange Verness sent to retrieve her.
