Behind You!

He couldn't calm himself down as he looked at his surroundings, the other soldiers who were getting ready by preparing their weapons and putting on their armour.

And for George looking at Fin beside him was weird; he saw George die in front of him and even saw his flesh being torn apart.

"Hey George, you should stop daydreaming all the time, man. It's getting pretty tiring hearing the Sergeant shout all the time." Fin said as he was putting on his bulletproof armour.

George didn't respond and kept staring at Fin. Just looking at him made George remember the smell of flesh and blood.

As he looked at all the things he was supposed to prepare, he realized that his hands had already prepared everything automatically. 'What the heck? Could this be muscle memory? No, it can't be...' He thought as Sergeant Desmond shouted behind them.

"Pick up the pace, maggots! The monsters waits for no one! And it is our responsibility that we kill those dirty bastards before they get everyone else!" The Sergeant said, with all of his equipment and bag ready.

"Crap, Sergeant Desmond is already ready?" Private Fin asked.

"Yeah, you should train yourself to move faster." George said as he looked stood up and packed up extra ammunition in his bag as he knew that the war wasn't going to go their way.

___

Private Fin fiddled with his fingers looking visibly concerned, "Do you think we will die?" He asked.

George had heard this question in his previous life, and the last time he told Fin to shut up, but this time, he felt a need to talk. "Actually, Fin, I think we are gonna die. All of us. The good, the bad, all of the monsters would kill us, and guess what? They win." George said as they took out a Glock 17 gun and checked it to see if it had ammunition in it.

Fin's face looked like jelly after hearing what George said; he looked scared as if he was about to break down, "You know, uhm, I was a part of the CIA. I have also done a lot of things during my time there, brushed with a lot of bad guys, but I managed pretty well. But for some reason, I am more scared now than ever." He said.

George looked at his face and shivered, "I will try, not to die." He said.

Fin looked at his face and nodded, "Same here."

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

The Sergeant then stood up and pushed a button that lowered one of the floors down, opening an ample space for them to jump out from, "We're here, boys! New York! Now pack up your parachute!"

George heard this and got to his feet immediately, "Fin, get up." He said.

As Fin started putting his parachute on him, George took it away from Fin and checked it, "This parachute won't work." He said before walking to Sergeant Desmond.

As the Sergeant saw George walking up to him with a parachute, an eyebrow was raised, "Private, what's the matter?" He asked.

"Sergeant, this parachute will not work, I request for a replacement." George said as he handed the Sergeant the parachute.

"Huh, it seems that you are right, private. A broken clock can be right sometimes." Sergeant Desmond said as he checked the parachute before walking to one of the boxes and taking another parachute out of it, and handing it to George. "Good job, soldier, you just saved someone today." He added before patting George's back.

"Thank you, sergeant." George said before walking back to Fin and handing the new parachute to him.

"You saved me... I could have died." Fin said as he put on his new parachute. He then wiped his watery eye and got to his position.

George looked down and saw New York from above and turned to Fin, "Make sure you stay near me." He shouted before jumping off the plane.

A minute after that and the plane exploded just as how George remembered, "What the heck!!??" Fin shouted as he looked at the plane debris that was falling.

George, who was just beside Fin, saw the debris and straightened his body to fall down faster, "Fin!!! You've got to fall faster!!!" He shouted before Fin did just that.

And as he saw that he was near the ground, he pulled the parachute, activated it and started floating.

He took out his grenade and threw it below him, exploding the monsters and goblins that were waiting down there.

As he dropped to the ground, he removed his parachute and took out his M4 and ran to Fin as fast as he could.

As he saw Fin blur out at the moment, George slapped his face, "Ow! What was that for?" Fin screamed as he touched the part of the face where George slapped him at.

"Because of this, you idiot!" George shouted as he blasted a wolf with bullets that were about to bite into Fin.

Fin jumped back and saw the remains of the wolf, and nodded, "Got it. I'm gonna focus." He said with his eyes open wide.

A goblin then ran towards George, who was then shot by Fin. "I got one!" He shouted with a smile.

As George saw the dead goblin lying on the floor with holes in its torso, he looked at the downtown, "There will be more." He said as he pointed his M4 before the place was pouring with goblins and other monsters.

He pressed his trigger and had to keep reloading as the number of goblins that were coming in was enormous.

Fin's hands were shaking, and he was struggling to reload his weapon while George looked like he had been in a similar situation before.

A spear came out of nowhere and pierced through Fin's neck, "Ah!!" He screamed before dropping dead on the roadside just beside a used tire.

"Crap!" George shouted as he saw Fin's body lying on the ground again.

He continued shooting down the goblins alongside the other soldiers and managed to kill all of them.

"Just a bit more! We must show those monsters that we are in control!" The Sergeant shouted.

As George heard this, he looked at the Sergeant and ran towards him, "Sergeant behind you!!!" He shouted.
