Chapter 15 - Fairies bring bad news

Chapter 15

(Haru POV)

It’s been two months since we reclaimed Xemore City. Akari and I spent that time roaming around the Beast Kingdom to get any demon stragglers. This was my first time really exploring this world and finding out what a beautiful place it is to live. It has lush forests, crystal clear rivers, and very interesting looking wild life. I even saw what looked to be a fairy flying around one night, when we were enjoying ourselves under a moonlit sky.

“Akari, look over there!” I yelled with excitement as I pointed at a few bright lights hovering around about thirty feet from us. “Do fairies exist in this world?”

“Yes they do, but it’s extremely hard to actually see or talk to any of them.” Akari looked over at the few lights dashing around with each other, “But if you’re lucky enough to get their attention, it’s considered a good omen.”

“Is that why their currently so close to us because of some good news that we will receive?” My curiosity peaked at the small little lights, “Do you think they would allow me to approach?”

“Who knows give it a try.” Akari said with a chuckle.

I got up from Akari’s embrace and started walking towards the little lights in the distance. I’m not even truly sure if their fairies or not, but here’s to hoping. As I got about ten feet away from the lights, I could make out what they were a lot more clearly. I saw small little people with translucent butterfly wings. From what I can tell they looked female. I wonder if there are only females or also males. Wouldn’t there have to be males for fairies not to die out completely?

I’m sure as Dr. Ian Malcolm would say, “Life finds a way.” Maybe their grown out of some powerful world tree or some other way, I have no idea about. The light coming from their bodies was a bright blue, when I started making my way towards them. The wings started to turn yellow as I approached, and they all stopped fluttering around in the night sky. I stopped in place, when they all started to stare at me. It seems, this was about as close as I can get before they take some kind of action.

“I mean you no harm.” I said with a low voice trying not to scare them away.

“…” They said nothing, while still just flapping their wings in place as they looked at me curiously.

I felt someone come from behind and hug me around my mid section. “Don’t worry he means you no harm.” Akari said with reassurance in her voice to the fairies.

The five fairies in front of me flew straight at us and started flying circles around our bodies. Their wings were back to a blue color as they started chanting, “Akari… Akari… Akari...” I see what’s going on now; she knew who they were this whole time. I’m sure the reason they were even close to us in the first place was because of wanting to see Akari. Furthermore, I had one of the little fairies land on my head and another on my shoulder.

Glancing over at Akari, I saw the other three lands on her body. My face started to get poked by the little fairy on my shoulder with a small giggle. It didn’t really hurt any as I turned my head to look at her, and she gave me a bright smile. I guess fairies are really friendly with people they know? But I don’t even know them; so that means Akari must be real close for them to show this much trust towards me.

“My family has always been very close with the fairies of our land. We use them as the eyes and ears of our kingdom. They work for offerings of food as remuneration.” Akari said as she was patting one of the fairies on their head.

“Akari danger... There is danger.” One of the fairies commented on top of her head.

“What’s the danger?” Akari asked. I just watched on as they had their conversation.

“Beastkin in trouble… lots of trouble. Black market… lots of slaves… sale… sale.” The little fairy conveyed a cryptic message.

“Where is this happening?” She asked with a solemn look on her face.

“Very soon… close to border… many evil men… Beastkin need help… death… if no help.” All the fairies lift off of us and flew a few circles around, then off into the distance.

“From what I could understand there is a huge amount of Beastkin slaves that are about to be sold in a black market. If we don’t rescue them, they will all die horrible deaths. Is that about right Akari?” I said concerned with the fairies words.

“Yep, it looks like we will be going to the Human Kingdom tomorrow morning and finding more information about this.”

“Alright, let’s go back quickly and get some sleep before we make our way there tomorrow.” I picked Akari up into my arms and launched myself into the direction of our home with lightning covering our bodies.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

We arrived to the Border between the Human and Beast Kingdoms early in the morning. Both of us wearing cloaks over our bodies covering up our ears and tail. Any Beastkin found within a Human city will be arrested without trial and thrown into slavery. There is no point in causing any issues right now, so keeping a low profile is for the best. The closest Human city that is on our border would be Naland.

There was a massive wall separating our two countries, and it seemed like it went on forever. I guess instead of putting walls around just their cities, they decided to set up a big wall cutting off anyone trying to enter their land. But honestly, whatever idiot set up this type of security was either an idiot or didn’t truly care about other people. We had no issues finding an easy spot in the wall to make our way over. Probably just a way for people in power to make more money.

I guess you can look at it another way with how its main job is to stop a standing army. If a few people manage to bypass the wall, they have enough confidence to stop, and capture any kind of threat. There are probably also walls around the major cities of the Human Kingdom. Anyway as Akari and I make our way into the city, we look for a target to get some information out of.

The first thing that we noticed while entering is the number of Beastkin that we saw around the city. Every single one of them had a collar around their neck and a few of them were being beaten in the street. Not one person even bated an eye at the brutality. It was something common in this Kingdom.

“Those bastards, I’m going to kill them.” Akari started to glare furiously at the individuals who were beating Beastkin.

I grabbed Akari and pulled her into a hug turning her away from what she was seeing. We couldn’t act rash just yet, until we know what they have in this city. What kind of power and how many enemies that inhabit this city.

“Akari not yet, we have to find out what were dealing with before we cause a revolt. Don’t worry; we won’t leave them like that for too long. Let’s first find out about the black market auction, and then go from there.” I kiss her on the head, while rubbing her back hoping she will calm down a bit.

“Alright Haru, but it’s just so hard to hold back at the blatant disrespect, right in front of us.” She had some tears falling from her eyes.

“They will get what’s coming to them; it’s only a matter of time.” As I looked at our surroundings, I saw a man that had extremely fancy looking clothes walking through the street. The air that he put off was one of an obnoxious noble, who looked down on all. I’m sure that guy would be a perfect mark for finding out the information we need. “Akari look at that man.” I pointed at the noble who caught my eye.

“What about that bastard?” Akari said with disgust looking at how that man was dressed. The best example I could give to explain how he was dressed was the privileged people of the hunger games. If I didn’t know any better, I would think he was a clown in a circus. Why would anyone want such a massively big collar, it just seems in the way. Also, what’s with those bright colors is he blind?

We both followed him for the next few hours as he had six people guarding him throughout the city. The most optimal chance to attack would probably be on his property. He’s too well guarded in the streets and many other issues could arise from being to open with an attack. Our long awaited appointment with this guy was finally about to come true, as he made his way into a gated estate.

“Let’s wait till midnight, and then storm the place.” I said to Akari.

“Alright Haru, I can’t wait to smash this place up. I desperately need somewhere to vent and can’t wait to get in there.” Akari started shadowboxing the air, imagining what she would do to her enemies. I just looked on at her actions with a smile, waiting for the time to come.

(Luna POV)

While I was growing up, I always felt fortunate for the kingdom I was born into. It was thriving with great people to talk too and get along with. Whenever I would go to a store to buy something they were always friendly and helpful with me. Both of my parents were really caring and couldn’t ask for more out of my life. That was until our kingdom fell a few years ago.

I’ve been through one hell after another for a long time now, just hoping for that sweet release of death to finally come. Having to service disgusting humans on a nightly basis is something I would never wish on my worst enemy. They don’t do it in a loving way either. It always comes with them beating me as they stick their disgusting thing into my body. Multiple times I was inches away from dying before they brought in a healer to bring me back to good health.

Those sick fuckers enjoy watching me squirm and cry in fear. I’ve tried multiple times to run away, but that just led to them going with more drastic measures on keeping me from leaving. This collar around my neck forces me to abide by the masters orders and wishes. Just thinking about all the things I’ve done, since I’ve been enslaved makes me want to break down and cry.

But my body has gotten use to the abuse, and I’ve pretty much lost my ability to feel any kind of emotion. I just want to die and end this suffering. Why did our kingdom have to fall and damn all those who contributed to hell! This damn collar won’t even allow me to take my own life. I’ve completely given up on the idea of being rescued like anyone would care to help me.

They just look at us as objects to play with and that will be my life, until they finally kill me one day. I’ve lived through four other girls, who were in the same position. Celeste, Chepi, Ellie, and Naida all died with the extreme abuse they had taken. Why am I so unlucky to not have the same fate granted to me? Why do I have to keep living being raped and tortured every night, without any remorse? Can’t someone just save me?

The door to my cage flung open with great vigor as the excited maid said, “Luna, it’s time to service master.” The horrible head maid said with glee.

My first reaction after looking up at the loud bang of the opening door was to just lie back down. That fat slob is going to put his disgusting thing into me once again and there’s nothing I can do to stop him. The maid kicks me in my side and pulls me up by my hair.

“Hey bitch! Did you hear what I said? How could you just ignore the master’s call? Do you have a death wish?”

I look up at her and spit in that whore’s face, “Kill me then and put me out of my misery.” That would be a fate I would gladly accept, if it means an end to my suffering.

The next thing I knew my face was struck, and I blacked out. Feeling someone kicking me in the side repeatedly, I rolled away from the impacts. Coming to my senses with what just happened, I looked up at the maid who had a furious look on her face. My whole body felt horrible, and I’m sure from her point of view I also looked that way.

She had two guards pick me up by my arms and start dragging me to the master’s room. As they pulled me to my destination, I saw the other people who work in the estate look at me in disgust. I hope a day will come where everyone here dies a horrible death and please allow me to witness it. These people are vile disgusting creatures, who deserve hell.

As we got to the door they opened it and threw me in. Landing on my side and rolling one time over, I came to a complete stop. My body was hurting all over as I looked up at the bastard lord of this estate.

“Welcome you mongrel!” He said with a wide sinister grin, “How’s my pet Luna today? You don’t look very good. Were you acting out again? When are you going to learn? You will stay here and service me till you die!”

He grabbed me and threw me onto the bed. The bastard ripped off my tattered clothes kneeling over me with his hands on opposite sides of my head. His lips were getting very close to touching my own. That’s when; we started hearing screaming and loud noises coming from outside the room. It sounded like a war zone for about thirty seconds, then nothing but complete silence.

“What the hell was that?” The bastard yelled getting off my body and putting his head close to the door to listen. That’s when the door got knocked off its hinges and sent him across the room into a wall.

My eyes widened as I saw two people who covered up their appearance, come through the door. I’m not quite sure if I should be happy about this, but at least this bastard will probably die today. All that noise outside, must have been everyone in this estate getting what they had coming to them. A bastard like this guy, I’m sure he has a lot of enemies, and his karma finally ran out. As the two walked towards me, they took off the hoods covering their heads. What popped out from under that hood was fox ears giving me quite the surprise.

“Don’t worry, we have come to help.” The male said with the female having a wide smile nodding her head next to him. I couldn’t help but sigh as my life as a toy has finally come to an end.
