Captivity

After the reveal, the system hadn't spoken to him again. It shouldn't be possible he thought to himself. The system was the system, unchanging. No matter the world, the mortals, or the God the system had never changed since the birth of the first universe. He spits out some dried blood from his mouth as he considers the possibilities implied behind this change. His ribs were healing quicker than he had estimated they would which made him worry that he had been dosed with potions. That might be good in Chae's case, but he had a strict no potion or medicine policy. Reliance on alchemical concoctions would be beneficial in the moment but limit growth in vitality which was something he detested. Pulling up his status he could see it was exactly the opposite of that.

"Wow" the verbal exclamation bounced throughout the empty room. Three stats in a day, he had been training a lot, but he didn't realize how close he was to pushing over those barriers. Stats worked weird, they weren't awarded for specific actions, or anything concrete like experience, but differed for every person. A stat could only be raised when a person pushes past the threshold the system designated for that specific stat category. Pushing past your limits only took willpower, but for some people the thresholds for increase were lower. Children had the lowest thresholds and until around twenty they could grow rapidly just by effort alone. Stats also were not a concrete statistic that could explain how two people match up. A Demon whose strength was at a 5 would probably still outpower a halfling whose strength is 6 or even 7 in some case. Not to say this only works race to race, Digaos as a child with a strength of three would probably be equal to an adult with a strength of two. This to stay stats really should only be used to verify personal growth not to compare to others. Admiring his new Vitality point which he could credit to the reason for his quick healing, Chae had started to stir next to him.

Scooting towards her he whispered "Relax Chae, I am here with you." Hopeing to calm down her panic upon waking up in the same situation before she had been knocked out. Unfortunately his assurances did not help like he would've like. The next ten to fifteen minutes consisted of sobbing and an amount of physical touch that even for him who was able to dissociate felt like much. Finally getting calmed to a point they started discussing the situation.

"Do you think Jinn and Len will be able to find us soon?"

"Those two? Soon, no, but with what happened and how I am sure the have contacted my family by now. Which is worse for these men due to my father being currently home to handle the situation."

This sentence alone calmed Chae down more than all of the assurances he gave her just by itself. She she knew Digaos was amazing, she doubted anyone their ages could keep up with him in anything. Anything he picked up he excelled at whether it combat related or even craft related. She had seen him pick up Piano at the intermediate level a week after discovering what a Piano was, but compared to this group of criminals who had orchestrated this kidnapping he was just out classed. He wasn't deluded to this fact either, but his father was one of the strongest men in the kingdom and that man was less than an hour ride out from where they were taken. What was also implied was his mother who was an 8th circle Mage would be able to assist with tracking them down through tracking spells with the blood covered arrow he had tossed to Sir Jinn.

"I can't believe there is a curse user this deep in a noble's territory." Digaos turned his head quick at this.

"A curse user, what is that?"

She looked at him in shock then with as much of a smile she could muster in the situation said "Oh so as much as you act like it, you don't know of everything."

"I don't know everything, but I do know a lot. Interestingly enough I heard Sir Jinn talking to Magdalene how the servants had caught someone dressed in a tunic and cotton pants with their hair pulled up attempting to s-"

"I GET IT! I'll tell you." Resigning herself to continue " A curse is a variation of Divine energy, if Stigmata and holy energy are the Gods will of helping the Sentient races, then Curse energy is their will to smite. While I don't know much more about it I do know a powerful curse user is deadlier than a powerful Aura user or Mage. The curse energy attacks in a way that isn't wholly physical. I've heard that having low stats is a death sentence against a curse user and that even high stat people can end up loosing stats from attacks, it's definitely something...." She trailed off as she looked at Digaos face. She had never seen him with this kind of face, distorted withy anger biting his lip with blood trickling down. Seeing her recoil away from him he calmed.

"Sorry, just angry at myself for not knowing about something so serious." This was the truth, he had never looked into anything regarding the Divine side of abilities due to thinking he had all the knowledge. "The will of the gods to smite sentient races", how ridiculous he didn't know what curses actually were, but a god would smite with healing energy just as quick as it would use natural disasters. There was no pure energy they used for it specifically, he knew he would need to research this more when possible.

*Creeeeak*

The door opens from behind them and a familiar face from the festival comes in. Walking over towards them Digaos assumed it would be to just check on their conditions, couldn't have hostages die on them. Within moments of him walking in he knew he was wrong, the old man was staring at Chae with greed in his eyes.

"Chae move bac-" *Thud* Digaos smashed into the wall, "God dammit, if I get kicked in the ribs again I won't wait for my father to get here" He thought. Looking up from the ground he saw Chae being held at arms length while the man was pulling open Chae's outfit. Anger flooded him as he heard Chae scream, Digaos pulled on his bonds tearing the skin around his wrists. This was a type of rage incomparable to before, ever before. This type of hatred, disgust, anger he couldn't handle, all that went through his head was to reject the situation or prevent it. He chose the latter.

"Hush girl, all I want is the jewel back!" hearing that Chae stopped screaming as much, but the moment had passed the threshold for Digaos. Injured or not he pushed forward as fast as he could, his shape blurring. He could feel the bones in his ribs creak, and the arrow wounds open back up bleeding again. Even with the injuries he moved faster than he ever had before. Pain flashed all through his head as it never had before, he tore his arms free from the restraints. Reaching out and grabbing the old man by the side. He pushed all his weight into him, and leaned in attempting to bit the mans throat while a savage yell left his mouth. Managing to recover slightly from the impact, the man was able to maneuver his arm in front of his throat taking the bite. That was when the pain hit and the screaming began. Another set of footsteps ran in to the room, it was the lizard. Chae and the old man took notice, but Digaos just clamped his jaw tighter and pulled his head back tearing skin and muscle from the arm with only one thought on his mind; To kill the man in front of him.

"What the fuck are you doing in here Matios?!" The lizard screams at the old man with more anger than worry barley looking concerned for the vicious wounds the man was obtaining.

"I was just taking care of something personal, now get this brat off me!" Saying this he throws his free hand back after dropping Chae and lets a fist fly into the boys head, not helping at all to loosen the boys grip.

Lizard then decides to wraps his tail around Digaos while grabbing Matios and pulling them from each other leaving more than a few pieces of gore hanging from his mouth.

After letting the two go, Digaos fell to the ground coughing and stunned, just the pressure from lizards tail did more damage to him than Matios' fist. Trying to push himself up he receives yet another kick to his side, but unlike the previous kicks it was followed by a punch and then another. He felt himself being picked up and thrown at a wall, he was loosing consciousness quick. Strike after strike his pain slowly dulling to the point where he could only feel the impacts.

"Stop you are killing him!" He heard a girl scream. "Who was that? " He knew the voice he just couldn't place it.

"The girls right, stop Matios." Digaos felt the impacts stop long enough to open his eyes, well at least the one he could open. Lizard was staring down Matios.

"Fuck the kid he tore up half of my forearm."

"I get that which is why I didn't try to stop you until now, but anymore and the kid might die. He dies and Zeregos kills both of us."

"We don't need the kid! The target is his father, the girl is a family friend so we lie and say he is alive while using her as hostage, then we hit the Archduke. Zeregos isn't around to say otherwise so who cares."

Digaos watches as he turns back towards him, with all his remaining strength he stands up and gets into a grappling position.

"Kid is tough I will give him that, to bad you don't have a bow and arrow, huh kid?" as he walked up Digaos felt the air ripple and saw the dark-skinned elf from earlier appear in the air behind the man reach from behind Matios and grab his face.

"Around or not, I always care. Goodbye Matios." Digaos watched as the man spoke and a purple, almost flame-like, wave ripped across the old mans face coming from the fingertips of Zeregos. Just a small touch was enough for the little wave to turn into a torrent of purple that engulfed the old man. The last thing Digaos could think before he passed out while Matios was screaming in a way he didn't know living creatures could was "What a painful way to go."
