Namir quickly backed away in shock - not expecting this rapid change in event - he heard a voice appearing directly in his ear at this moment, "Quick, back away while I hold this guy off; I don't know how long I can keep up with him for." Namir wasn't one to need to be told twice, quickly running away from the battle between Luo Jian and the upper middle ranked enemy. As he ran Namir could hear the loud clanging and grunts of the two figures behind him; he only had one thought towards these two, "Monsters."
Namir was someone who had come from modern day earth, he had never seen someone with as much physical prowess as these two individuals; their battle had been shocking, to learn that this was possible was both exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure. This battle had been a huge blow to Namir's psyche, but also an introduction to what he could become in the future. Namir took a steadying breath after running about a quarter mile from the tree, making sure he had cover from the sniper.
Taking a moment to recollect himself Namir thought to himself, 'I can continue these thoughts later, for right now it's time to kill.' with this thought Namir snapped himself from his fugue and was quick to prepare for the coming battle, pulling his sniper out Namir had a thought, 'Modern weapons are limited in their capacity for damage; however, older weapons such as the bow's strength are directly correlated with the strength and ability of the enemy. I wonder if I should switch from the sniper to the longbow, it may be a better weapon with my future upgrades.' while deep in thought Namir had prepared his sniper and was in a well covered position with a decent line of sight of the enemy, and with a deep breath he shot.
"Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!!!!" Namir had rapidly fired, along with his new position came a new vantage point on his enemies; feeling safe in their hiding spots they were unaware of the danger that was to come. With such easy pickings it was no surprise Namir had managed to kill an enemy with every shot fired; understanding the skill level of the enemy sniper from their previous encounter Namir was quick to get up and move to a new vantage point. Along the way Namir pulled up his menu, checking the number of enemies and was shocked by what he found.
There were a total of 196 people remaining on the enemy team and a total of 7 humans remaining on the human team. Both of these numbers were surprising in their own way, the enemy number was shockingly low. It had been a little over half an hour since the start of the human-hunting trial; typically in this amount of time the enemies would've already found the human team and a one-sided slaughter would commence. Namir was almost jumping in excitement, with a good enough display here he may be excepted into a high ranking mercenary school even with his poor background.
Namir continually ran around to different angles within the forest, picking off enemies one by one. The upper-middle ranked member of the enemy team had long become annoyed of his antics, feeling as if there were a fly constantly buzzing in his face that he just could not catch. And when he was celebrating for finally managing to catch Namir before he could continue his spree he was annoyed to find Luo Jian right there with him, stopping his attempts at finally squashing the annoying bug. Yet, this gap had caused enough of a disturbance for the sniper on his team to have spotted them, as evidenced by the round that had just barely missed Luo Jian and completely smashed the bark of a tree.
Namir took advantage of this shot to finally get an angle on the enemy sniper, his constant pop shots at him had been rather annoying and dealing with him once-and-for-all would make the rest of the battle far easier. Taking aim Namir took a deep breath, steadied himself and then fired; yet, right before he shot he had been interrupted by the splintering of a tree from the fight between Luo Jian and the upper middle class warrior of the enemy team. This splintering had shot wood right into his hand, knocking it sideways and consequently moving his aim a little to the left. Coincidentally the sniper from the opposite team had been attempting to dodge the shot from Namir and had moved over directly into the shot that would've missed him otherwise.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Namir took a second to process the utter bullsh@t that had just occurred in front of him before breaking out into hysterical laughter at the ridiculousness of the situation. His laughter caught the attention of the upper middle class enemy, turning in the direction Namir was looking he could feel his angering bubbling at the sight of his teammate dead. He went to reach a hand he had shaped into a claw at Namir yet before he could even bring his arm all the way up a figure appeared in front of him, blocking the attack. The enemy let out a sigh of irritation, readying himself to once again push Luo Jian back.
He had stopped paying attention to Namir, viewing Luo Jian to be the bigger threat; this proved to be a mistake however, when in the middle of his battle, "Boom!" a shot could be heard. As the enemy turned to dodge the attack he was forcefully blocked by Luo Jian, face turning ugly the man contorted his body beyond human limit, dodging the bullet to the best of his ability while being blocked by Luo Jian. His contortion allowed him to stop the bullet from connecting with any region of the body that may have been considered deadly, but he couldn't completely dodge the bullet. Grunting in equal measure pain and irritation the man wasn't capable of blocking the sudden attack of Jian, leading to his untimely demise.
Both Namir and Luo Jian were shocked, they couldn't believe they had managed to kill a member of an upper middle rank species. Doing so typically required a human to have gone through 5-10 upgrades. The both of them turned to one another in incredulity, giving their own nods of respect toward the importance they had played within the fight. Speaking up Namir questioned, "Now that we've dealt with the serious threats we should regroup with the humans that are still alive and slowly round up and kill our enemies; with any luck we may be the first humans in decades to beat a human-hunting trial."
With a plan stated they gave one another one last nod of respect before they dashed off in opposite directions, going to round up the members of their team. Namir pulled up the menu and found a not-so-surprising scoreboard; there were a total of five humans still alive with a total of 122 members of the enemy team still alive. Namir became engrossed in his thoughts, filled with excitement at the prospect of being an integral part of the first team in decades to pass the human-hunting trial, and with so many members alive as well.
In an average human-hunting trial it was exactly as named; a trial in which humans were hunted, the number of people killed from the enemy team would typically not exceed 10 let alone 124, and included among this was a member of an upper middle class species. This was especially emphasized by how the members of their team who, up to this point had done nothing, were still alive with only five having died. Feeling excited at the knowledge of just how well they were doing Namir was left completely unaware of the figure behind him. In a flash the figure - with a sudden burst of surprising speed - attacked Namir from behind while he was distracted.
Hearing the sudden swooshing of sound from behind him Namir's instincts kicked in; he reacted in a mere instant, spinning on his heels and bringing his sniper up to block the attack that was rapidly approaching him. Smacking the attack to the side Namir was filled with regret, blocking this attack had completely destroyed his sniper. Yet he had no time for regret as he was being attacked, finally having enough time to get a good look at his attacker Namir's eyes widened in shock. Staring back at him with a dour expression was a human, his teammate who had an ugly expression upon the first time they had met; Namir couldn't believe that in a battle where humans were already so heavily disadvantaged his own race would attack him.
The man let out a sound, "Tsk," clearly irritated at his failed sneak attack; he began to speak, words dark and angry with a voice that sounded to be almost dripping with venom, "You, a mere human, have caused so much damage in this trial. The higher races have hired me to infiltrate into the human side and find any promising members of their younger generation." Upon hearing this Namir began to feel both angry and frightened, thinking to himself, 'How deeply have the higher ranked races truly burrowed into our ranks?' Yet before Namir could become lost in his own thoughts he was frozen in place, staring at the expression upon the other mans face in trepidation.
The dour man currently had an expression of sadistic glee on his face, opening his mouth he began to say something that sent alarm bells shooting through Namir's head, "So your real name is Namir Prince, from the planet Zenith. You were adopted at four to a women named Nadia Prince. Did I get all that right?" Namir began to feel the biggest case of paranoia he had ever experienced, feeling as if someone were watching his every move. This worry quickly changed to anger, his expression told a message of 'How dare this man implicitly threaten not only me but my mother as well!', with this Namir exploded into action. Grabbing the dour man by the face Namir picked him up before bodily slamming him to the ground, anger not abating one bit he quickly climbed atop his downed foe before raising his fist and slamming it into this monster of a humans face.
Namir continued to pummel the man for well over a minute, the man having long become a corpse; it was at this moment Namir received a system message.
'The user has been temporarily timed out for team killing, will allow the user to rejoin with a red name in 24-hours.'
And with this message came the end of the human-hunting trial.
