The Sky, the Light, the Stars, the Rain, and the Snow
It was a sunny Summer day. A pregnant woman was in labor. However, the woman was not in a hospital. She instead chose to have her child on her home planet, in her old home. This land was not a popular planet due to the extremely dry atmosphere. The entire surface was rocky and uneven. The planet’s name was Dry Earth. This name was due to the lack of rain and water. The planet had become desolate more than a decade before. The land had not had rain in almost 20 years, and this resulted in the mass death of many people. Except for the extremely wealthy that could afford artificial water, and the servants of nobles, people turned against each other. Thus, there were no people left in the entire city of this home. The father stood to the side of the bed, waiting for the birth of his first child. Outside of the house stood hundreds of humans waiting for the news of the Commander’s child.
The woman gave a push, and what emerged was a navy-haired girl. However, the child was not crying. The man cleaned off his child and took her out to the masses. He held her above his head for the Gods to see, in hopes of them having mercy and giving her life, but something unexpected happened. The sky turned dark, and a single raindrop fell from the sky. The raindrop fell onto the child’s forehead. A moment later, the child begun to cry. With the cry, the skies thundered, releasing a rainstorm that the planet had not seen in decades. The surrounding people took it as a message from Heaven, and dropped to their knees for the Commander’s child. The man, with a satisfied look on his face, declared to all:
“This is my, Black Starr’s, child. Her name will be Rain, as decided by the Heavens.”
This was the start of the life of the one that came to be known as the Rainbringer.
5 years later
Rain ran through the metallic halls of the family spacecraft. They were currently in between travel from Galaxy 4 to Galaxy 5. The child had a wonderful, innocent grin on her face as she ran towards the control room.
“Rain! Please, don’t go there! Your father is a busy man, and I’ll be the one to hear about it!”
An old servant, dressed in iron armor, chased after the young girl. He clearly had his hands full with the playful Rain.
“Father!” Rain opened the door with a smile on her face.
The man turned and greeted his child with a warm smile.
“Rain, dear. What is it?”
“I just wanted to see your face!” The girl had innocent desires.
“Hahaha! I’m truly lucky to have a daughter as sweet as you. However, Father is busy. Go eat lunch.”
“Yes, father!” The child ran out the door toward the dining room.
“Arnold.”
“Ah… Yes, sir.” Arnold entered the door with a sorry look on his face.
“Please take Rain to the training room after she finishes her food. If she has enough energy to run through the halls, she should be training.”
“Of course, Sir.”
Arnold walked out the door and thought to himself. ‘Rain is still a child, is it truly necessary for her to train instead of play and spend time with her father? I suppose I shouldn’t question the Commander’s decision.’ Arnold chased after Rain to catch up.
2 Years Later
A girl stood between several martial artists in fighting stances. They attacked together.

“You’ve grown strong, Rain.” Her father praised her genuinely. He was satisfied with her growth and work ethic.
“Thank you, Father!” The girl showed her innocent, adoring smile.
“I believe it is time.”
“Time for what, Father?”
“I will tell you tomorrow. Come to this room tomorrow morning.”
The man left the confused child to her thoughts. ‘If Father thinks it is important for me, then I will do it!’ Her unwavering belief in her father gave her comfort in the anxiety of the unknown.

“Dear. I heard that you think that the time has come? She is still seven years old! Please, wait a little longer.”
A woman pleaded for the sake of her child. It was clear that she was holding back tears.
“Don’t worry. I will perform it myself- there is no risk in the procedure.”
The man comforted his wife casually. He then left without hearing her next words that she muttered to herself.
“I’m not scared of the procedure itself, but how it will be after…”

The next morning came and the girl stood in the training room with her Father.
“Clear your mind and close your eyes. Believe in your father.”
“Yes, Father.” The girl closed her eyes obediently.
The man swirled the power of the Cosmos through her body, and with this, the seven year old child named Rain became awakened.
Two years later
“Father, I’ve arrived.”
“Good. I will bring her out at once.”
The slightly taller child, with light blue markings covering her face and arm, waited to see her newborn sister for the first time.
They had decided to have the second born child on the planet of Winterfell. The Commander had wanted this child to be indifferent to her surroundings, cold as ice. It was this reason that they chose the Iceland known as Winterfell. In a log cabin by the fire was a pregnant woman and man. Outside the door stood a nine year old, navy haired girl. She was wearing blue leather armor. Behind her stood the masses of the army. After several minutes, the father brought out a crying child with snow white hair.
“This is the second born child of Black Starr. She will be known as Winter.”
The father handed the child to the wide-eyed girl. In the past two years, she had grown more distant and obedient due to the severity of her training and missions.
“She’s… cute.”
The girl stared at the baby that stared back up at her with purple eyes. She vowed to herself ‘I will take care of her. I must make sure to not let her suffer.’ This was the first person to show warm eyes toward her as a person since she had Awakened, and she did not want that person to come to harm.
In the coming weeks, Rain’s missions became exceedingly dangerous. She then received the most dangerous one from her father since she had Awakened.
“You want me… to annex the planet known as Suppon?”
“Correct. They have grown aggressive, and have an abundance of resources on their planet. I will give you an army and ship to accomplish the feat. Consider this a test of your worth.”
Rain stared at her unhesitant father and spoke reluctantly.
“Yes, Father.”
.
.
.
The girl stood in front of the bowing king of Suppon. The man had been completely defeated almost singlehandedly by the young girl with strange markings. He had lost in under a year. Rain had a tired and sad look on her face.
She begun to reflect on her actions in the past year. ‘Was this necessary?’ ‘Did I have to kill them?’ ‘Why did I even accomplish this?’ The one thought that had kept her going throughout the venture was Winter. Remembering the innocent and trusting smile, Rain felt homesick. ‘At least I get to see her face again. If it’s for her, I will continue to walk this lonely path.’
.
.
.
“Father. I’ve returned.”
Rain opened the door to see her father’s cold face staring at her. He spoke.
“Welcome back. I trust it went well?”
“Yes. I left part of the army back on the planet to control their actions and reap the resources.”
“Good. You are dismissed.”
After not seeing his daughter for a year, the man had no intentions of speaking warmly.
“Understood. May I ask where is Winter?”
“She’s in the nursery with Skylight. She tends to like to sleep near her.”
“Skylight?”
“Ah, right. A couple months ago, we had another child. She was born in the observatory room, and the stars flickered at the moment of her birth. Thus, we named her Skylight.”
Rain ran out of the room towards the nursery. ‘Another sister?’ For the first time in a year, she felt happy. When she entered the door, Winter was looking over Skylight. She approached them, but Winter waddled in front of the crib to protect her sister.
“Ah, you probably don’t remember me, but I’m your older sister. Can you understand?”
Winter stared back at her with a confused face. Rain pointed at herself and spoke again.
“Sister. Sis-ter.”
“Sis..ter?”
The snow-haired girl showed a flash of surprise at the words. With complete trust, she ran into her sister’s arms.
“So you do know the word sister.” Rain stared at the beautiful toddler and eventually moved toward the crib.
In the crib was a purple-haired baby with eyes an even darker shade of purple than Winter’s. Rain looked at the giggly baby and thought to herself ‘She has those same eyes… Someone that trusts me… Someone that loves me… Even if it’s superficial and undeserved… I won’t let those that love me down. I don’t want to see those that I love have to walk the same path as me, so I will do it for them.’ With her will renewed, and a goal to protect her younger sisters, Rain continued to walk the path of loneliness.

Skylight’s POV
Father is nothing more than a drunk warmonger. I cannot understand the need for such pointless aggression. And to top it off, he doesn’t spend any time with us. By ‘us’, I mean me and my sister, Winter. We’ve grown up together, played together, and trained together. When I was five, me and my sister were enrolled into an intergalactic educational facility. Basically, it’s a glorified boarding school for important people of the universe. This resulted in us almost never seeing our parents. Well, not like I would want to see Father anyway. Like I said, he is nothing more than a modern-day conquistador. I hate him more than anyone else in the universe.
Well, not anyone. There’s a certain someone that I can’t stand even more. I rarely ever see her, though.
On a typical day of class, I play with my friends and Winter. However, my usual plans of goofing off took a turn for the worse due to unforeseen circumstances.
“Today, class, we have a special guest speaker. She is someone that is an older sister of two girls in this class, and is known throughout galaxies as ‘The Rainbringer’. Please welcome Rain Starr.
The class clapped excitedly for a navy-haired teen at the front of the room. The boys, of course, were especially loud in their support.
“Hello, I am here to talk to you about the politics of the galaxies.”
‘Ugh… Out of everyone, why does it have to be her?’ Skylight’s most hated person in the world is none other than her older sister- Rain.
‘She’s nothing but an obedient puppy to Father, gladly partaking in the slaughter of entire planets for her own gain. It’s truly despicable, and she’s praised throughout the galaxy as a genius.’ Skylight felt as if Rain was just like her Father, fighting for selfish purposes.
Winter held similar beliefs. She felt as if she was being overshadowed by Rain, and wanted to be given a chance to prove herself. She had heard from her mother when she was younger that Rain Awakened at the age of nine. Winter was now eleven, and believed that she deserved to Awaken as well. Winter was always more aggressive than Skylight, and more than a hate for her father, she felt a jealousy towards Rain. Skylight was aware of Rain’s status as favorite as well, but didn’t let it bother her.
Rain finished her speech, and the teacher dismissed the class. Rain began to approach her sisters, that she had traveled to see, but was met with a well-expected attitude.
“Skylight, let’s leave. We have no business with someone as selfish and prude as her.”
Skylight stared at her sisters and decided to follow Winter’s lead. ‘I hate her, so being rude is to be expected. If she truly cared about us, she would spend more time here rather than slaughtering people.’ With this thought, she turned her back on the Rainbringer. She spoke one thing before exiting the room.
“Please, don’t try to act like a sister now. Go back to killing people for sport with Father.” With those words, she followed Winter to play with her friends.
Rain stood in the now empty classroom with a lonely smile on her face.
‘As long as you can remain happy, I’m fine with being hated.’ Her pure love for her younger sisters had only grown stronger over the years, despite it being one sided.
This was the life of Rain Starr, the Rainbringer.
