Chapter 9, purpose .
The boy stood in front of the group of human children, staring at them as they explained their game to them.
“Explain to me how you play this ‘blind fly’” question the boy.
“When playing the game blind fly the blind man will wear a blindfold while all other people will be the flys, the blind man will try to catch the fly while the fly is running around the blind man taunting the man.” explain one of the kids.
“I see, how shall you begin?”
“How about you play the blind man first?” suggest one of the kids.
What do you think? [i believe participating in this event will be beneficial to our research.]
It seems that we shared the same idea. Muse the boy as he steps forward toward the kids.
“Very well, I shall play the blind man.” answer the boy after a conversation with his AI.
“Great” beamed the girl who invited him to the game earlier, the boy got handed the gray blindfold. Without saying anything the boy put the blindfold up to his eyes and covered it, however once he pulled the blindfold to the back of his head he realized that there were no clips or other mecnicasem to hold them in place. The boy starts to feel around the end of the blindfold to find anything that might be used to hold the blindfold together, during the entire endeavor the childrens around him stared at him with a bewildered expression.
“He doesn't know how to tie a blindfold?” “is he really that sheltered?” “How long do you think he figured out how to use blindfold?” “Please someone help him, I can’t watch this.” mummers the kids as they stare at the boy’s attempt to wear the blindfold.

Suddenly the boy feld a pair of hands on the back of his head, his back straten as he was interrupted by the giggling voice of a boy.
“It’s fine, I'm just helping you tie up this blindfold. No need to work so up about it.” comment on the giggling child.
“You have my thanks.”
“You welcome.. Uhhh. come to think of it we never got your name, what's your name anyway?” ask the child.
“I have no name, or rather I have no need to.” answer the boy.
“Ehhh?! Why?” ask the child, shock evident in his face.
“The purpose of a name is to distinguish oneself from other sentient beings, due to being raised away from population centers I see no need to give myself designation such as names.” answer the boy in a mechanical voice.
“But what if you meet someone, like right now?” argue one of the humans in the crowd.
“Meeting anyone capable of intelligent communication is a once in a aeon experience. Additionally, when I meet them they are usually on urgent missions, as such it is rare that I even have the time to communicate with them.” answered the boy, hearing this the kids start to feel sympathy for him. As someone who grew up surrounded by peoples, they can’t even remotely imagine the amount of coldness the boy must have felt.
“Where were you, even? I can’t imagine that void of life except for the middle of the ocean” commented one partially well read kid in the group.
“Close, the cosmic void is incredibly similar to the middle of an ocean.” muse the boy, completely unaware that he kids arounds him don’t understand any cosmic terminology at all.
“Umm o.k? But now you need a name, right”
“It appears so,” answered the boy.
“Any name you like?” ask one of the kids.
“Humm… I don't know” muse the boy.
“Umm.. hey! How about Asplund” suggested one girl.
“Asplund?” asked the boy.
“Yes!”
“Your reason for choosing this name?”
“It just came to my mind, that's all.” shrug the girl who suggested the name.
“Is that how you around here give names to people.” ask the boy.
“Well yes. Why?”
“Because names usually have meaning behind it.”
“We’re not nobels. those people who think they're so high and mighty, thinking that every name must have some great meaning behind it.” rant the girl.
“Very well,I shall temporarily take the name Asplund as my own until I find something that suits me.” smiled Asplund, he reached out his right hand.
“Well then, nice to meet you Asplund.” smile back at the girl as she grabs his hand with her own.
