Chapter 3: Death trance

Chapter 3: Death trance

hey guys, sorry for not posting a new chapter for so long, i am just the kind guys who like to think before i start doing any thing, but i realized the way i was thinking the third chapter turned out to be bad (i actually named it 'crappy chapter 3?') and the second time was a little bit better but not much, finally i tried giving the 'just sit down and write what feels natural' thingy (after reading chapter 2) and it turned out perfectly,it takes me exactly where i want to go with this story. next chapter i am going to be introducing a lot of characters  who are going to be important in future arcs, so heads up.

* = actions

' = thoughts

``=  talking.

all of these i am going to implement next chapter.

Ps: i am going to try 4 chapters a week, 3 at least. so without further ado enjoy :)

¨Time to take my new body out for a spin¨ I mutter looking at the two charging at each other.

¨HEY! ¨ I call out to the man, and the yeti. My voice barely audible over their roars, nonetheless both of them come to a halt and back away lightly obviously feeling wary over the voice that came seemingly out of nowhere. They both finally look over in my direction.

*I bet all they can see is a blurry form anyway* I think as I look over to the 2 men who at first have a look of shock on their faces , and the yeti who snarls angrily, his and their eyes looking at me .

*maybe not directly* I think as I notice both parties squinting their eyes, over the blizzard.

.

Speaking of the blizzard it looks like it is finally calming down, and both parties finally see me clearly. The two men were really huge, not in height, but in muscle even from here I could see they were packing some serious muscle, though they were almost a head shorter then Me.*I guess it is only natural elves are typically tall anyway*

However, as I take a close look closer at them, they do not really seem like men of the wild, I can clearly see one of them was shaved. He had many scars on his face. The way he held, his axe and his stance were for me clear indications of his experience in combat. While the one who charged the yeti so recklessly, held his axe with two hands rather than one and he looked younger than the other one, he was not shaved but instead sported a stubble.  I guess the fur is just there to keep them warm.

*I wonder why anyone would be in this desolated snow covered landscape, Heh why AM I in this desolated snow covered landscape is the real question, and More importantly, why am I not feeling cold? It seems freezing out here. Yet another mystery to solve I guess.*. However, unlike me, with my seemingly abnormal body. They seemed to be prepared for this environment. Their weapons clearly indicated they came here prepared, and the furs they were covered in, just further proved that. I would like some clothes myself, seeing as how I am just in my dress right now.

.

*Not that I ever had much clothing to begin with, I always wore my karate GI. Still I would appreciate some undergarments. I sure have stones for going commando like this.*I laugh loud at that, the irony not escaping me. However, the dress is by no means revealing, I think looking down at the white dress, the sleeves tightly fitting my wrists and the medium neckline only revealing down to my collarbone. The only thing that is bothering me is how the dress is clinging lightly to my hips, though it did not bother me in my run over to the yeti earlier.

.

*perhaps because of the flexible material?* I jump slightly remembering the situation I am in.

The yeti was now glaring at me angrily with red eyes. While the men’s eyes had a look between, surprise, and awe at first, but now after my laughing fit they just looked at me with suspicion and hostility.

*Of course an elf with  white hair and dress comes out of nowhere and just laughs mysteriously, who would not be suspicious, heck I am suspicious about myself*¨

I take a deep breath to calm down and to start explaining the situation as fast as possible, *misunderstandings are always to be avoided*, I remind myself.

However, before I can even utter a word, the yeti lets out a huge roar, and then it points one of its huge arms at the two men and shoots two black objects. The man who previously charged the yeti is hit squarely in the stomach while the veteran looking one manages to jump to the side but still is hit in the thigh midair. He hits the ground, but luckily, the snow cushions his fall, though I could still hear what sounded like a *THUMP*

Then it turns its attention over to me. I grab my dagger from my waist and take it out slowly. Unwrapping the cloth around it, .I cut the cloth from my dress earlier and used it as a replacement sheath.

The moment that I have the dagger in my hand, and take a stance. I feel my body slowly emitting some sort of energy, wisps coming out from random places in my body. Like some sort of…

*Aura* but it feels unlike anything I felt before, I could feel it was a mix between my mana and some energy produced in my own body.

*IT IS, the same energy that came out of my hand when i opened the chest* I thought to myself though it does not seems as……. potent, as before. I do not know how i can tell, but it is not the same energy as before, as I remembered the feeling from back then was not mana at all.

It seems the dagger is responding to that energy, as I can see the red jewel at the hilt shining slightly.

I look up at the yeti now, only to see the terrified look in its eyes, and then something strange happened. It spoke

¨Völva¨ the yeti screams, and I had to hold my sensitive ears so as not to go temporarily deaf again.

It then started to shoot a barrage of those black objects at me, and I soon realize it is shooting its claws.

The black claws the yeti was shooting were really fast and accurate. However, I had more then gotten enough training at dodging fast objects, thanks to the old man. Little good it did me last time.

In this body not only was I a lot lighter and stronger I was also very agile, but I noticed as i dodged the claws left and right that I lacked flexibility. *it is only natural who knows how long this body was in that tomb*

*Ok enough of this* I dodge a claw that was meant for my head and dash forward towards the yeti my dagger in my left hand, I come to a halt when I am in range of the yeti, and kick it straight in the belly. It does not do as much damage as I had hoped but the yeti’s eyes open in surprise and it bends over clutching its stomach, its neck now completely exposed. I take the chance and plunge the dagger as deeply as I can into its neck, blood splashing over my face and dress. It lets out a cry of pain and tries to grab me with its huge arms but I take my knife out quickly and do a backflip over its incoming arm.

I start to breath heavily, but not because of physical exhaustion no it is what I felt when the blood hit my skin as I embedded my dagger in the yeti’s neck, I felt an intense urge of hunger and thirst.  I have not even realized how drained I was since I first came into this body. I feel myself losing control over my body, like a man walking under the desert sun for a week and finally seeing an oasis.

I start to rush over to the yeti like a maniac not even thinking twice, and I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my stomach, in my frantic state, I have not even noticed the claw that passed my stomach like a bullet.

Looking down all I could see is a hole in my stomach, and my snow-white dress now red from blood. The yeti could not hold its arm up anymore but as I was falling over, I could see the smug expression on its face. Then I fall down to the snow bleeding.

*Am I going to die again? Heh should have followed the old man’s advice.* as I finish that thought I feel something within me stir, it felt somewhat like my mana, but different like a sixth sense I never knew I had. I started to focus on that feeling and soon realized it’s running through my whole body, like... Blood.

Then I start to use every ounce of strength I have left in me to focus on my blood, and through it, I start to feel this foreign energy clearer. I reach out for it and start to channel it into my wound; I could feel my cells regenerating at a rapid pace, and my wound closing.

It takes a few more moments for my wound to heal fully, but I start to feel the drained feeling I have been having since I have opened the chest, only a hundred times worse now, I am having more difficulty blinking my eyes. Fatigue assaults my body, and I recognize it as the same one I had felt moments before I died.

My eye lids feel like led, but I know if I close them, I will never open them again.  I push myself slowly off the ground. Standing on wobbly legs, I try look around to find where the yeti is, but my eyes are so blurry.

Being punched in the face could not even compare to the dizziness. But I have to keep walking forward. I start tilting from left to right, but I hardly notice it my body feels so far away, as if someone else is walking.

I shake my head slowly and finally start getting some degree of vision back. That is when I see the dam yeti crawling away pathetically. I awkwardly run for it managing to keep my balance with great difficulty.

I laugh weakly, this scene reminding me greatly of my master in his nightly ‘fun sessions’ I reach to where the yeti is. Even though it felt like a mile, it was probably no more than a few meters. Now that I had reached the yeti, I know what to do.

I mount the yeti’s back. It tries to throw me off but it was just useless squirming. I reach down with both hands, my right hand grapping the lower part of the yeti’s deformed ear while my left hand grabs his shoulder than I look down at the yeti’s neck and instinctively know where I can find this its jugular vein. I start to open my mouth bringing it closer to its neck; the smell of blood filling my nostrils.

I open my mouth and feel my canines getting longer, but I have no hesitation I know what I have to do to survive. I sink my canines into the largest vein on the yeti’s neck, and blood starts filling my mouth, I gulp it down without hesitation. The yeti stops squirming after a while but I pay it no heed, and continue to drink, after several mouthfuls of blood I finally feel ‘full’ even better then I felt when I had woken up.

I straighten up slowly, imagining only how flushed my face is in this moment, makes my want to cry. I finally feel awake again, my ‘death trance’ finally broken. Therefore, I am starting to get some sense of my body back. I start to slowly get feeling in my taste buds and since I had just drank close to a liter of the yeti’s blood at least, that is the first thing I taste.

*ARGH! This tastes, this tastes…..*
