‘’ELF?’’
Now I am certain, this is not earth, if it was, the existence of a creature such as myself would have been impossible.
'Wait, if I am an elf does that mean this is some sort of fantasy world'
The last thing I remember was dying, so does that mean I am reincarnated? However, if I was really reincarnated shouldn’t I have been born as a babe first?
I shook my head a little seeing the futility of my musings, I l slowly look around me, but there really is not anything to see just a typical snow covered landscape.
I go back to observing the yeti. It really is a yeti. Never thought I would see one.
Suddenly I notice that the yeti is covered in patches of red, and strangely enough even from this distance I recognized those patches as blood.
¨Although I do not remember blood ever looking so good before¨ I croak before being taken into a coughing fit.
' Ah, my throat is so dry, I really need to hydrate myself fast!'
Looking closer at the yeti now I could see that it was acting strangely, it was jerking back and forth, it was as if it was defending against something.
'Or attacking it.'
That is however, none of my business as far as I could tell nothing humanoid could survive in this environment. I go back to my ‘tomb’ to continue experimenting with my new body.
There was something bothering me ever since I got out of my tomb.
Even though I have the appearance of a typical elf I do not remember the elves in normal fantasy being so physically strong, they were usually agile and good at magic. At this thought I suddenly stopped.
'Magic eh? Interesting'
I was once again now back to my ‘room’. I see a spot with no rubble or spider web, and I sit down there. i have already confirmed that I can still use my Ki (A/N ki is lifeforce). Though in all fairness it much purer and stronger now, I also had what felt like a huge amount of it, with this I am sure that I can continue fighting using it in my martial arts for days. However, it is almost useless to me as I am now, my control of it was clumsy at best.
'Another reason why I must train my hand-to-hand combat from now on without exception'
Leaving that aside, I am an elf now, and from the moment I opened my eyes I could feel a strange substance in my body, and since this is what seems to be a fantasy world i could only assume this was the ‘mana’ that is used for magic.
I slowly breathe in, and then out. I start focusing on where I can feel the biggest concentration of mana, and I suddenly feel like I am floating in space where there is a huge ball of blue energy in front of me.
'so this is mana'
I slowly reach out to that energy and channel it into the palm of my palm right hand.
'Hmm, this is going to be my first spell, so of course it has to be… a FIREBALL!' I thought excitedly.
At first, I try to channel small amounts of mana into the palm of my hand but nothing significant happens. I begin to channel more of my mana into my hand, but still nothing happens, I continue doing this for quite a while until I finally see a small flicker in the palm of my hind and so I channel as much mana I can to sustain it.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
¨wow it is so beautiful’’ I croaked.
'Damn vocal cords'
I let it go after a few second because it was so draining, it took me almost half of my mana just to hold that small candle like flame for about 10 seconds, and this does not bode well at all.
but on the bright side I notice that my mana pool is rapidly regenerating which surprised me a little as I thought I had to eat and sleep to get it back, the same as my Ki.
'Cool factor aside, I cannot possibly hope to use that in combat, it was simply too draining and it took too long to use'
I was a little bit disheartened by this so my shoulders dropped a little, as I thought magic would be my greatest asset in this world.
No sooner had I thought that then I heard an earth shattering roar.
*sigh*
'That yeti is really starting to get on my nerves'
I went outside again, but this time it looked very different. It seemed like the biggest snowstorm I have seen in my entire life
Or former life I guess I chuckled lightly, and this time it didn’t sound like a cackle from a ninety year old woman, and actually sounded nice.
'It seems my vocal cords are getting back in gear again'
I decided to venture the storm and head out to the yeti, to check on what was happening, and I shut my eyes tightly and stepped outside.
'Eh?'
I slowly opened my eyes and noticed something weird not a single drop of snow was landing on me or even near me.
'Hmm another mystery to solve' I thought lightly,
As I look for the yeti who is on the same spot as before doing the same jerky moves.
I really want to see what kind of creatures there are in this world. I thought excitedly thinking of kind of creatures I would see.
I jumped out of the tomb and landed softly on the snow, not even pushing it down a little and I moved quickly to where I saw the yeti, and when I say quickly I mean quickly. I must have been running 23miles/h at that moment, and I did not even feel like I was running at max speed. Plus my breathing didn’t even spike. If I did not know better I would have said I was not even breathing harder than when I was meditating.
'How ironic, my new body really is that of a monster’s now compared to my old one but on the outside it is completely the opposite' I smiled a bit bitterly.
'It seems true that the age old saying of (you can’t judge a book by its cover) holds true in every world'
I quickly cut the distance between the two of us, and i stop running, it feels just like if i had stopped walking. The blizzard was still going strong, so it gave low visibility, except for of course my eyes, as I have already mentioned not a single flake of snow was dropping on me.
I look up again to see the yeti wounded in multiple places now, with more than one axe poking out from its abdomen and huge arms. I also noticed that there were two dark patches near the yeti’s feet. To the other side of the yeti were standing two huge fur clad humans with axes panting heavily.
At the moment I arrived there, one of the two men charged the yeti with a battle roar, while the yeti answered it with its own.
