Continuing their battle, Dragbaki and Head wizard Maldris continue to cast high-level spells against each other. Dragbaki utilized his sorcerer-fighter multiclass to cast 4 powerful Fireball spells, Maldris then cast the spell wall of stone which managed to stop the oncoming fireballs, after which Maldris counter-attacked with a 5th level magic missile that would end the fight as he created 7 powerful darts made up of magic force. As the Darts home in on Dragbaki, just as the Darts was about to hit.
Drabaki used his quickened Metamagic to instantaneously cast Blink which transported him to the ethereal plane. The missiles with no target to strike, continued on their path, streaking through the air before eventually dissipating into sparkling motes of energy. After a while, Dragbaki reappears in the training hall ready to counter. When suddenly…
"That's enough, you two! An hour has passed" Captain Seraphia announces, causing both combatants to halt.
"Bravo! Dragbaki, amazing attacks and reaction… let us take a break for now before me and Captain Seraphia test you and Lyria at the same time" Head wizard Maldris praises Dragbaki for the amazing fight.
As the two take a break Head wizard Maldris gives pointers to Dragbaki and Lyria regarding what he observed in their fights. He also proceeded to give lessons to the caster division of the temple guards. Captain Lyria also did the same with the melee division using the fight she did with Dragbaki and Lyria. After the lessons given by the head commanders, guards from both divisions came to ask Dragbaki and Lyria about some tactics they displayed during the fights.
After the break, Dragbaki and Lyria return to the training hall where Captain Seraphia and Head Wizard Maldris are waiting. Ready to take on their final test in this temple, one that would test their bonds and how much they could trust their back to one another.
“So, are you both ready for your final test?” Captain Seraphia asks the duo, as she stretches and gets ready for the fight.
“Again the rules will be that you both pass if you break both of our mage armor or If both of you last for 1 hour, both of you need to be conscious at the end of the hour.” Head wizard Maldris explains the rules of the test.
After the head wizard explained the rule, both commanders took their stance and prepared for the fight. Captain Seraphia wields her Long sword while Head Wizard Maldris holds his staff.
Dragbaki and Lyria also started to prepare for the fight, Dragbaki wielding his short sword with a ruby of the war mage embedded in it for his arcane focus in his right hand while a normal short sword in his left hand. Lyria on the other hand held her wand with her left hand and conjured a rapier in her right.
“Hmm from what I’ve heard from Dragbaki they’ve only met a few days ago, So they probably don’t have any combat experience where they would have to fight as a team.” Head wizard Maldris said to Captain Seraphia.
“Hmm even more so that we need to go all out when fighting them, those bastards from the darkness wouldn’t be lenient when those two make mistakes on the battlefield” Captain Seraphia replied
As the two commanders discussed the duo, Dragbaki and Lyria on the other hand are trying to come up with a strategy for the fight but it isn’t quite going well, Dragbaki recommends that he take on Captain Seraphia while Lyria would take on Head wizard Maldris. Lyria on the other hand wants to do the opposite. They continue to argue until they’re interrupted by Captain Seraphia who reminds them that the battle would start now.
Since both commanders would fight, one of the spectating guards was given the command to signal the fight, as soon as the signal was given. Lyria rushed to Seraphia to take her on, launching a barrage of precise strikes with her rapier and forcing Seraphia on the defensive.
“Don't immediately rush like that, you'll quickly exhaust your stamina!!!” Drabgaki shouted to Lyria
Lyria didn’t pay attention to Dragbaki and just continued on, Dragbaki on the other hand also rushed to attack Maldris, Maldris, on the other hand, used the spell Fly to avoid Dragbaki’s unconventional attacks, Dragbaki seeing the spell being cast, then casted Counterspell to nullify the Fly spell pointing his short sword arcane focus. However just as the spell was about to be launched, Seraphia arrived in front of him and deflected his sword upward causing the spell to miss while Maldris was successfully able to fly and cast Fireball which Lyria narrowly dodged with her misty step.
The disparity of the 2 duo’s teamwork was immediately apparent. The temple guard commanders were able to respond to each other's situation while the hero’s duo wasn’t.
The fight continues on with Captain Seraphia attacking as a vanguard and Exhausting the duo while Maldris continues to provide support by launching highly damaging attacks and providing shield spells. After a while, the duo manages to retreat. The commanders didn’t immediately pursue the duo though, for they may be going all out; this battle is still a lesson for the hero’s party duo. After the two retreated they finally began to formulate a plan as their situation was a problem with both of them getting tired but they’d only been fighting for 15 minutes.
“So what should we do now?” Lyria annoyed, that she wasn’t doing any damage to both Head commanders asks Dragbaki for a plan

“First, we need to properly communicate, we need to observe their patterns and react to them. We also need to separate them.” Dragbaki said as he gave recommendations on what they should do.
After the duo finally got a strategy, the two commanders also began to get cautious, knowing this would be the start of the real fight. As the two rush the commanders Lyria casts Darkness, a 2nd level spell that covers a 15 feet radius sphere. The spells separated Seraphia and Maldris, with Seraphia getting covered with darkness along with Lyria. While Dragbaki and Maldris continue their magic duel.
Lyria with the advantage of her Devil’s sight which allows her to see through magical darkness, She also casts Haste which allows her to move fast. Lyria bombards Seraphia with eldritch blasts as she changes position in the darkness. Seraphia with no way of counter-attacking sought to retreat out of the darkness but was kept there by Lyria. With the strategy they’ve planned, Lyria wouldn’t have to spend large amounts of her stamina to keep Seraphia engaged while the Dragbaki and Maldris fight outside of the darkness-covered area.
Dragbaki and Maldris continue to cast various high-level spells while avoiding hitting the Darkness-covered area in fear of hitting their partners. Maldris then casts Greater Invisibility which makes it hard for Dragbaki to track him down.
Dragbaki using his Metamagics, conjured a total of 20 darts, the scene looks very mystical as Magic missiles circle around him waiting to strike. As the battle reached the halfway point 30 minutes passed. Dragbaki stopped his search for Maldris and just stood at the center of the training hall, Maldris thinking this was a good opportunity to cast a Scorching ray with 3 rays of fire towards Dragbaki.
Anticipating such an attack immediately used his subtle and quickened metamagic to cast counterspell quickly and without any extra somatic and verbal movements which reached a high efficiency of magic usage, astonishing Maldris and the casters. Still skeptical of Whether he can sustain the intricate spellcasting approach he's using. Maldris barrages Dragbaki with spells ranging from magic missiles, Thunderwaves, scorching rays, fireballs, Lightning bolts, and many other spells. All of which have been nullified by Dragbaki’s special magic.
As Maldris continues to push the limits of Dragbaki’s special magic, The Darkness spell that surrounds Lyria and Seraphia fades away as the Duration finishes. As the figure of the two appears, The 20 magic missile darts circling Dragbaki Immediately head straight for Captain Seraphia who is surprised to see 20 magic missiles heading for her. The twenty magic missiles that had been diligently orbiting Dragbaki in a mesmerizing dance suddenly broke free from their celestial choreography. As if they had a will of their own, they streaked through the air with a newfound determination, their luminous tails trailing behind them.
Captain Seraphia, her eyes widened with surprise, found herself in the crosshairs of this magical onslaught.
In that heart-pounding moment, the world seemed to slow down as the relentless missiles closed in on their target. Seraphia is a seasoned warrior with countless battles under her belt. Deeming the attack was too dangerous she raises her longsword in front of her as she calls upon her divine connection to Tyr, the god of justice. The missiles approached with unerring precision, but Seraphia's faith and her Paladin's oath to protect never wavered. With a swift, graceful motion, she swung her blade, channeling her divine power to cast a Shield of faith, a radiant shield of holy energy.
The magic missiles collided with the divine barrier, erupting in a dazzling display of light and energy, each missile disintegrating upon contact. The cacophony of the magical assault filled the area, leaving a momentary respite as Seraphia's resolute defense held strong against Dragbaki's formidable spell.
Meanwhile, Maldris seized the opportunity to counterattack Dragbaki with a hold-person spell which surprised Dragbaki as he was unable to move.
“You owe me for this” Lyria shouted as she cast dispel magic which freed Dragbaki.
After Dragbaki is freed from the spell he quickly retreats right beside Lyria. Maldris also appears right beside Seraphia as his Greater invisibility spell’s duration runs out.
The fight came to a pause with only 20 minutes remaining. As the battle reached a temporary pause, both pairs of combatants took a moment to catch their breath. Captain Seraphia, her divine shield still glowing with residual energy, exchanged a nod of acknowledgment with Head Wizard Maldris. On the other side, Dragbaki and Lyria, now standing side by side, shared a glance of determination.
"Well fought," Captain Seraphia praised, her voice carrying a hint of respect. "You've proven your mettle, but the final twenty minutes will determine whether you pass this test or not."
The heroes, having faced the might of the temple guard commanders, understood the gravity of the situation. They knew they needed to finish strong and prove that they could not only survive but thrive as a team.
The atmosphere in the training hall crackled with anticipation as both parties readied themselves for the final phase of the test. Captain Seraphia, still in the glow of her divine shield, took a defensive stance, while Maldris prepared for the next onslaught of spells.
Dragbaki and Lyria exchanged a quick strategy glance, their eyes reflecting a newfound understanding. They decided to capitalize on the separation tactic they had used earlier. This time, however, they aimed to exploit the vulnerabilities they had observed during the intense battle.
With a nod to each other, they sprang into action. Lyria, utilizing her Haste-enhanced speed, moved quickly toward Captain Seraphina, who was still recovering from the magical assault. Dragbaki, on the other hand, focused on countering Maldris's spells and keeping him occupied.
Lyria unleashed a series of precise strikes with her rapier, aiming for the chinks in Seraphia's armor. The paladin, though skilled and resilient, found herself hard-pressed to defend against the relentless assault. However, just as Lyria sensed an opportunity to push through, Seraphia's divine shield flickered to life once again, thwarting the assault.
Meanwhile, Dragbaki engaged in a magical duel with Maldris. The head wizard, having witnessed Dragbaki's prowess in countering spells, adjusted his strategy, weaving a complex tapestry of magical attacks to test Dragbaki's limits. The hero responded with a combination of counterspells and well-timed dodges, demonstrating a deep understanding of the magical arts.
As the final minutes ticked away, Dragbaki and Lyria maintained their communication and coordination, adapting to the ever-changing dynamics of the battle. The temple guard commanders, recognizing the resilience and resourcefulness of the heroes, pushed themselves to the limit as well.
With ten minutes remaining, both teams were visibly fatigued, yet the intensity of the battle showed no signs of waning. Seraphia and Maldris, realizing that the heroes had become a formidable force, decided to combine their efforts. The commanders synchronized their attacks, creating a challenging onslaught that tested Dragbaki and Lyria's teamwork and individual skills.
Amid the chaos, Lyria, drawing upon her arcane abilities, cast a powerful spell that created a dazzling display of lights and illusions, momentarily disorienting the commanders. Seizing this opportunity, Dragbaki unleashed a series of swift and precise strikes, exploiting the moment of confusion.
The training hall echoed with the clash of weapons, the crackling of magic, and the determined grunts of the combatants. As the final minute approached, the heroes found themselves in a precarious situation, both physically and magically drained.
In a last-ditch effort, Dragbaki and Lyria summoned the last reserves of their strength. With a synchronized assault, they pressed forward, forcing the temple guard commanders to defend with all their might.
The seconds ticked away, and as the final moments of the test unfolded, the outcome hung in the balance. The training hall was filled with an air of anticipation, awaiting the judgment that would determine the fate of Dragbaki and Lyria.
