Chapter 5 Apology

Chapter 5 Apology

"So... Hyue, has 'Master' always been such a spoiler child?"

Hearing this question of nowhere, Hyue glanced at Bin and calmly responded.

"Miss is a kind and hard-working person."

She didn't say much but you could see she respected Jasmine but Bin didn't know the reason, all he saw in Jasmine was childish behavior and an annoying mouth, not even a single quality beside

"Kind? Hard-working? Are you sure about that?"

"Yes."

Hyue didn't deign to elaborate, and there was a firmness in her tone. She wasn't being sarcastic.

After only exchanging those few sentences, Bin couldn't find something to talk about with her beside Jasmine so he remained silent and pushed the trolley to the room.

By the time they reached the room, Bin saw Jasmine lying on the bed with her eyes closed.

"It seems Miss has fell asleep. I'll bring her food when she wakes up."

"Why bother? I'll just wake her up."

Before Hyue could stop him, Bin walked to the sleeping girl and poked her hard enough to make her body shake ever-so-slightly.

'She sure sleeps like a freaking log.'

"Master!"

Since mere poking didn't work, Bin called for her with a rather loud voice. Fortunately, this was enough to wake her up, but instead of being angry at him, she absentmindedly sat up and yawned, seemingly still half-asleep.

"It's time for you to eat."

Jasmine nodded without saying a word. This behavior was no different than a baby's, which Bin saw as annoying rather than cute.

Bin didn't bother with Jasmine and put the plates in front of her. The half-asleep Jasmine began eating slowly but at least she was eating.

Jasmine began eating while occasionally mumbling inaudibly. She truly seemed to be out it, which was better having to listen to her ramble and complain.

After spending ten minutes gobbling down the food, Jasmine laid down on the bed and covered herself.

"Miss is back to sleep. You can rest for the night, Bin."

Since Bin was still standing there, Hyue had to explicity tell him to leave.

"Good. It's late enough already."

Scarce had he left the room did Hyue stop him and add.

"Your room is on the other side of the mansion. It's right after passing the kitchen."

"I beg your pardon?"

"Your room, it's-"

"I get that, but I have to go home. My sister is alone."

"..."

Hyue titled her head in confusion. Clearly, she was unaware of his circumstances and assumed he was going to stay here.

"Thanks for the help, Hyue. Have a good night."

Bin smiled at her before swiftly walking away. Although the thought of sleeping on a comfortable bed was enticing, he couldn't just leave Mina alone even if there were bodyguards ensuring her safety.

He had to prepare his sister's food and make sure she didn't feel afraid of lonely. In fact, being gone was a couple of hours was already bad enough, even if he knew that Mina wouldn't complain or blame him.

When he left the mansion, Bin secretly hoped that someone would drive him home, however, no such thing happened. Disgruntled, his only choice was to walk out of this high-end Residential District and then take a taxi. It pained him to spend so much money on the taxi fare, but walking back home would take over an hour.

When he was finally back home, Bin saw Jasmine's bodyguards nod at him and then leave. Relieved, he opened the door and entered his dark apartment, which didn't have any electricity.

A petite figure was lying down with only a blanket separating her body from the floor. Bin made as little noise as possible and succeeded in not waking her up. Although he didn't do a lot of manual labor today, he still felt physically and mentally drained.

He laid down next to his sister and gently caressed her head.

'Just wait a bit more, Mina. No matter what, I'll make sure you get anything you want and live the best life there is.'

Around midnight, Bin felt some movement, which was Mina waking up. She rubbed her eyes and then looked around. It was apparent that she was hungry.

"You hungry?"

"Not a lot..." She shyly responded while lying down again. Bin chuckled and playfully pulled her cheek.

"What did I tell you? If you're hungry then tell me."

He quickly got up and took out the food he brought on his way back.

Mina watched him expectantly, and when he readied it for her, she ate a bit before pushing it towards him.

"I'm full, big brother. You have some too."

Bin shook his head and smiled.

"I already ate at work. Now, finish your plate."

Mina hesitated for a bit before she resumed eating, though she frequently glanced at him. With her stomach full, she soon fell asleep again.

----------------------------------------

Bin felt as if the night passed in an instant. When the light of the sun pierced through the glass window, his eyelids slowly opened.

'I feel like shit.'

A strong headache made him groan in pain, but what was worse was his stiff body.

"Ugh..."

Feeling the urge to vomit, he covered his mouth, however, that made him cough several times. Mina moved around for a bit before letting out a soft moan, which was a sign that she was about to wake up. Bin quickly wiped the blood off the corner of his lips and went to bathroom.

It was almost time for Mina to go to the kindergarten, so he readied her clothes and made sure her books were in her square-shaped bag.

"Morning, Mina! Make sure to eat those, okay?"

His sister obediently drank a small bottle of strawberry milk and ate a small cupcake before dashing to the bathroom to wash her face. Even without having him tell her, she knew how to behave and what to do, which made thing easier.

----------------------------------------

Since Jasmine slept quite early yesterday, she woke up at 6 AM; The first thing she did was call for Bin, but Hyue informed her that he returned home after she had fallen asleep. Unsurprisingly, Jasmine was infuriated by this, totally forgetting the fact that her new servant had a younger sister to take care of.

"Hmpf! I prepared a room for him yet he still dares to go back home."

Unwilling to give him any free time, Jasmine quickly left the mansion and went straight to him. As for her breakfast, she ate it on the way. When she was near the decrepit building he lived at, Jasmine was about to send the chauffeur to call her servant only for the person in question to show up.

Due to the dangers lurking in this region, Bin would take his sister to the kindergarten. As they went down the old creaky stairs, he caught sight of a familiar car that definitely felt out of place.

"What are you doing? You're supposed to be my servant for all the day!"

"That's not what we agreed upon."

"Y-you know what I mean!"

Jasmine glared daggers at him, but Bin didn't seem bothered.

"Didn't I tell you I have to take a couple of hours off to take care of my sister?"

"Big brother, who is she?"

Mina was natuarlly curious about the girl shouting at her brother. She tightened her hold over his hand and instinctively drifted behind him.

"So what? I'm your master so I decide when you can go. Going whenever you feel like it is disobeying your master's orders!"

Bin let out a sigh of exasperation, glanced toward the quiet chauffeur, and then rebuked,

"Stop being unreasonable."

Bin was not feeling like arguing with her as his head was aching and he felt fatigued.

"Why are you talking to big brother like that? Rich people are really bad people!"

Mina unexpectedly spoke up, pointing at Jasmine and 'insulting' her. Unlike Bin, Jasmine couldn't yell at a child, and it wasn't like she inheritently hated children.

"Your big brother's job is to serve me. Little girls should stay out of adult matters, okay? It's not good to insult other peop-"

"You better shut your mouth, Jasmine. I agreed to be your servant and I explained myself to you. Showing up this early in the morning... you're already out of bounds. If you continue being this excessively annoying, then the deal is off."

Bin's loud and stern voice caught Jasmine off-guard, especially since he called her by name. His fierce expression, coupled with his eyes that contained fury, made her feel uncomfortable.

A bald man in a tuxedo came out of the car's passenger's seat and threateningly approached Bin.

"It's okay, Jacob."

The bald bodyguard, albeit angry, still backed away. He was tasked with protecting Jasmine, but that didn't mean he would tolerate anyone that talked to her like that. Then again, it was kind of extreme to beat down any person that talked in a slightly rude manner to her, though that would explain why she was an insufferable and obnoxious person.

"Miss, let me teach him a lesson."

"I said it's okay!"

Hearing her raise her voice, Jacob apologetically bowed his head and kept his mouth shut.

"Don't show up in front of my home uninvited again. And don't talk to Mina."

Bin glared at her before walking away with Mina, who was also upet.

"Wait! Why are you making it sound like it was my fault?!"

Jasmine talked back to him but Bin continued walking away from the car. Even when he heard her open the door and get out of the car, Bin didn't stop. What he said earlier wasn't a lie. To a degree, he was fine with Jasmine's behavior, but he didn't want her showing up here and constantly interfering with his personal lives. Excluding the fact that she might be a bad influence to Mina, her mere presence here would garner attention and potentially make him a target for thieves and other criminals.

If he was seen being friends with a rich lady, they would do anyting to extort money from her.

"I said wait!"

Jasmine ran up to them and blocked their path.

"It's my fault, okay? I overdid it."

She did look guilty, but Bin remained solemn. As for Mina, she harrumphed,

"You're a bully!" Then she pulled Bin's sleeve and said, "Big brother, don't work with a bad person like her!"

Bin glanced at Mina then at Jasmine, "You're right. It's your fault. If you apologize to Mina for acting like that, then I'll let bygones be bygones."

"W-what? Why should I apologize?"

"..."

"Okay okay... I'm sorry."

'Color me surprised. I didn't think she had in her.' Bin didn't actually expect her to apologize, nor was he going to call the deal off, nevertheless, he did feel a bit pleased.

"I don't accept her apology, big brother! She's mean!"
