Chapter 4 Mansion and Parents

Chapter 4 Mansion and Parents

As the main door of the mansion opened, Bin was momentarily speechless by the luminous hall that welcomed him. It was needlessly big, but it was still a certain had a certain unique grandeur.

Wide stairs that could fit several people led to the upper floor, and hanging from the ceiling was a particularly big chandelier that probably cost several times the sum Bin had saved up so far. There was also the paintings, the luxurious and pristine decor, the sparkling clean floor and walls, and the warmth of the place that constrated the slightly chilly weather outside.

"This is my home." Stated Jasmine with a smug look.

"And?"

"Pretty impressive, isn't it?"

Bin just shook his head and chose not to feed her ego. She wasn't saying this to boast, rather, she wanted to annoy him using any means necessary. As she was met with lackluster reaction, Jasmine shrugged and walked to the right. After a brief walk, they reached what looked like a spacious open room that was split into two parts: A Living Room and a Dining Room.

In the former, there sat two people, who instinctively turned once they heard footsteps.

Sitting on the sofa were two individuals. Because they were facing him with their backs, Bin couldn't see their appearances, but he knew it was a woman and a man.

"Dad, Mom, I'm home!"

Jasmine cheerfully ran up to them, her face filled with a bright smile.

'...'

Bin stood a bit behind, scrutinizing the two adults; the woman's face bore a striking resemblance to Jasmine, though it had a more nature and refined look. The man, on the other hand, had a somewhat average face that was equipped with a pair of narrow brown eyes.

Jasmine's father wore casual clothes, which displayed his noticeably fit physique that matched his stern look.

"Jasmine! You're back early."

The mother hugged her daughter, her voice soft and filled with affection

"What do you mean 'early, it's already 6 o'clock!" The man's voice was loud though not aggressive. He gave his daughter a reproachful look, but there was no anger in his eyes.

Jasmine didn't seem to mind her father's attitude, however, her attitude was different from when she had been alone with Bin. Her mannerism were a bit refined and her speech was devoid of the boastfulness of before, instead, she acted like an innocent teenager.

Bin awkwardly stood at the same place, feeling completely out of place.

"Make sure you don't come back late next time."

"Oh come on dear, she's at that age already, so let her have some fun."

The woman threw her daughter a playful wink, which made her giggle.

"It's not safe out there! You always have to be careful!"

Jasmine gave him a nod before turning to look at Bin, which immediately became the center of attention.

While her mother had a momentary frown as she studied the young man, the father was angry.

Hong had always been an over-protective father that went to great lengths to ensure his daughter was safe and lived a life anyone would wish for.

"Who's this, Jasmine?"

Bin didn't dare act presumptuously in front of him: He performed a polite bow and introduced himself

"I'm Bin. As of today, The Miss hired me as her servant."

"..."

Hong didn't snap at him, he just gave him a long and meaningful look before looking at his daughter.

"A Servant? Haven't you learnt your lesson by now?"

Jasmine nervously averted her gaze and drifted closer to her mother. Before even hiring Bin, she knew that her father would react like this considering what happened in the past. In fact, Jasmine was known to have hired servants in the past but none of them lasted for a long time. It was more apt to say that she retaliated against people who wronged her, forcing them to become her servant. Admittedly, however, those people were rich and willingly acted as servants for a day or two before they were forgiven.

Excluding them, Jasmine had officially hired only one true servant prior to Bin and that didn't end well at all.

Hong didn't believe that Jasmine would keep Bin for a long time, therefore, he didn't question him. He just dismissively waved his hand,

"Make sure you don't fool around too much. Focus on your studies and don't stay out at night."

Jasmine breathed a sigh of relief, quickly gesturing for Bin to follow as she dashed out of the room.

She led him to her room, which was on the 2nd floor of the mansion. It was a whopping 3-minute walk to reach it, which was absurd for Bin, who was used to his cramped apartment.

More shocking was that her room was absolutely, and unnecessarily big. It had its open bathroom and even balcony.

'I get that I'm her servant but... why am I in her room?'

Bin stood near the door and swept his eyes across the room, envying her comfortable-looking queen-sized bed. As he was lost in his thoughts, Jasmine had already sat on a tall leather chair and opened her computer, which was glowing with multiple-lights.

'I'm not an expert, but that's a gaming computer, no? This is quite unexpected.'

Albeit surprised, Bin still failed to see the point of him being here.

"I need to remind you that my sister is waiting for me at home."

"My bodyguard are with her. No one can harm her."

"That's not the point."

Jasmine turned away from him and put on her headphones,

"Anyway, I'm going to play."

"I get that, but why do I have to watch you?"

"..."

Jasmine didn't respond, she booted up her game and started playing with no care in the world.

Feeling bored, Bin sat on a wide sofa, occassionally watching her curse under her breathe and type on the keyboard.

'The situation notwithstanding, if this is all I have to do then this might be the best job I've had.'

A couple of minutes passed before Jasmine looked at him again, but this only made her frown.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing?" He responded, looking perplexed.

"I didn't you order you sit."

"Do I also have to breathe only if you order me?"

"F-fine! Sitting is okay but you can't do anything else."

"What else is there to do?"

Jasmine mumbled something inaudible and then resumed her play session.

'What an insufferable girl.'

A bit more time passed, in which Bin approached her and watched her play, though he didn't understand what was going. He wasn't a gamer, not did he ever have time for such things.

"Screw this! I'm killing this guy!"

"..."

Jasmine opened the cashop and bought a whole of items. Dumbfounded, Bin saw her spend no less than 300$ just to strengthen her character, or so it seemed.

'300$ down the drain.'

Unsurprisingly, when she fought again, she won with ease, which greatly lifted her mood. Seemingly done with the game, Jasmine happily hummed,

"That was easy." She commented while glancing at Bin.

"Well, you spent a lot of money so how could it not be easy?"

"It's not just about that! This game requires a lot of skill too."

"Sure."

"I'm serious. Bah! Why am I even explaining this? You don't seem like the type to play games."

"I have more important things to do... like being an adult and actually working."

Jasmine crossed her arms, "Why would I work if I have money? Don't go blaming me for the life you've had."

"I didn't blame you."

"Hmpf! I'm hungry, go bring dinner from the kitchen."

Bin nodded and quickly left. Although he didn't know where the kitchen was, he preferred walking around than staying her and endlessly arguing her. He and Jasmine and two opposing extremes and it was hard, if not outright impossible, for them to see eye to eye or understand each other's perspectives.

Once he left the room, Bin went downstairs and walked toward the hall opposite the one leading to the Living Room. A kitchen would have to be on the ground floor, and this assumption of his was proven true when he reached his destination.

The aroma leaking from the kitchen greatly helped his brief search, and when he was finally there, he saw a couple of servants either cleaning or cooking. There were several delicious-looking dishes and drinks prepared and ready to be served, some even have been neatly placed atop big food service trolleys.

Feeling hungry just by the smell, Bin stood there dazed until a maid walked up to him

"You must be Miss Jasmine's new servant. I'm Hyue, the headmaid. It's a pleasure to meet you."

A young woman, probably in her early to mid-twenties, was standing in front of him. She had long braided dark hair, a pale-white skin, two green eyes, and a small pointy nose. She was tall as bin, wearing a standard maid outfit, though, oddly enough, she had long black boots that match the rest of the attire.

Hyue's voice was soft and polite, and her mannerism was flawless, though her expression was unchanging, which made strangers think of her as cold or indifferent. Appearance-wise, at least, she was totally Bin's type.

"The pleasure's all mine. I'm Bin."

Hyue nodded once before asking, "What brings you to the kitchen, Bin? Did the Miss ask for dinner?"

"That's right."

"Alright. Please wait a moment."

Within a minute, Hyue loaded one of the trolleys with all sorts of dishes. The amount of food was enough to feed Bin and Mina for two days.

After that, Bin proceeded to push the trolley to Jasmine's room, but what he didn't expect was that Hyue followed him. She guided him to an actual elevator that faciliatated the transportation of the trolley, but, beyond that, she didn't say a single word.
