22 – Closing and moving the portal

I observed the busy bees that were humans for hours upon hours until it was 'night' and, while under observation, detached from the IKEA, closing the portal, which drew the attention of the nearby guards.

After a long day of work without a single break other than the quick few minutes she had to grab something to eat from Vernon, Clair was beyond exhausted.

So, you could say that this was probably the only time she would get any rest, as she has been running on very few hours of sleep for the past week.

Luckily, the levels she has been getting, though far fewer in number when compared to the others, have given her a bit more strength and stamina to carry on through these exhausting days.

Just as her mind was beginning to drift off to sleep, suddenly, she heard shouting before one of the Guards rushed into her room, stirring her back to consciousness.

She sighed before the man could even say anything, tiredly getting up and asking, "What is it now?"

"The portal closed!" The man yelled, causing Clair's eyes to widen open and her jump out of the bed.

Not waiting for even a moment, she dashed past the man and out of her small house made of furniture and dashed through the many small houses and bunkhouses made of furniture or wood.

It took nearly five minutes before she reached the walls, where she climbed to the top to see all of the Guards posted on the walls staring at the now-empty area where the portal was not long ago.

The humans reacted far faster than I expected when I closed the portal, as now around half of the human population was standing around the empty clearing where the portal was not so long ago.

While I did close the portal, I decided to leave behind those two Enforcers to distract the Staff while we moved, though the Enforcers would be weaker now that I was not going to be able to funnel any sort of mana into them.

Eventually, if the Staff could not destroy them, the machines would go dormant, though the few grams of Element in their bodies would grant them centuries of battery life, regardless of their activity.

It was a shame, though perhaps I will recover them in the future and fully scan their memories of what occurred while they remained trapped in the IKEA.

Meanwhile, I was already moving the dimension along the IKEA's twisted and never-ending shape.

As distance and size were irrelevant, it did not really matter how far I moved the Dungeon, as once I connected, I could be only a few miles from where the portal was originally connected, or I could be someplace new and thousands of miles away and in an entirely different area of the IKEA where the Humans would have never even heard of my human's original settlement 'Living Room.'

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Though there was no real way to explain how to explain Dimensions to something a human could understand, Dungeons stood as higher leveled beings that were graced with the ability to see many layers of reality, including realms higher than any normal human could ever hope to see.

Of course, if the stories were anything to go by, it was entirely possible for Humans or their equivalent to reach such a stage through a number of methods, though I doubt I will encounter any such beings in this IKEA.

Merely an hour later, I halted the advance of the Dungeon and, with hardly any effort, once again latched onto the IKEA's Dimension before opening a portal.

Gathered around a table, all of the tired leaders of the Settlement could be seen.

"What do we do now?" Sarah asked, tired and on the brink of falling back to slumber as she sat as straight as she could in her chair.

"Well...if the portal is closed, there's not really much to worry about other than focusing on the biomes," Bright commented, thinking as he placed his hand under his chin.

Just as everyone was about to discuss what to do next, now that they did not have to worry about the portal, yet another Guard came rushing in.

"The portal is back!" The shoulder shouted.

Sighing, Clair and the others got up and traveled back to the walls where, much to some of their displeasure, a golden pillar of light making a crack in the air floated above the ground at the center of a clearing, surrounded by walls.

...

While the humans rushed back to the portal after seeing it reopen, I instead summoned another two Enforcers to scout out the surroundings outside of the portal, luckily finding no staff nearby, though I would not know truly if they could detect my...intrusion until they swarm my Dungeon.

While the two Enforcers focused on Guarding the portal from within the IKEA, I focused back on my project. the Monster Spawner.

At its current size, it was far too...unwieldy, with its size comparable to a house.

However, I was working on miniaturizing it. Luckily, the mana cost was negligible since I was able to recycle everything.

It was harder than I expected but still quite manageable.

The Spawner I was working on was attuned to the Velociraptors, so once I activate it, it should spawn them above it.

For hours, I worked on the spawner, recycling everything every time I made a single mistake with the etchings or its dimensions.

Soon enough, I managed to downsize the spawner to the size of a large truck, and while I could keep trying to miniaturize it further, I wanted first to test it out.

So, I pulled the spawner out from the small cavern I constructed it in and floated it all the way over to the Jungle Biome, where I proceeded to activate it.

The etchings glowed with power as the 'egg' at the center began to throb and tremble.

With a wave of mana, Velociraptors began to form rapidly in the air before falling straight to their death.

As all of them were level 1 and effectively as strong as a baseline velociraptor, they did not survive the sixty-foot(18.288-meter) drop.

I gazed at the ground beneath the Spawner, which quickly became a literal landscape of carcasses and blood.

Deactivating the spawner, I examined the etchings and enchantments.

After I deactivated the spawner, I lowered it to the ground, and with a bit of mana, the ground swallowed up the Spawner.

I'll continue working on the Spawner until it becomes a lot more practical. For now, it will stay deactivated.

I will only use it when I can add variables to the enchanting that the Spawner enacts, such as spawning different level monsters, having different monsters it can spawn, such as a list it can choose from, and then perhaps a way to make the Spawner more efficient to allow for faster-spawning.

In the meantime, I focused on the viscera and carcasses that now covered the trees, grass, and bushes above the spawner.

Taking control of the monsters in the area, I directed them to the carcasses, where I ordered them to eat, drink, and lick until the area was clean of everything, including the bones.

I could simply recycle all of it, but I felt it would be simpler to let the other creatures in the area get some easy food without having to fight tooth and nail for it.

Plus, it would add a bit more ambiance if I had them leave a few skeletons around the area and scatter bones across the Jungle.

Anything to make a better story, even if it might end up looking like a horror story.

Sadly for the poor humans, they would have to be both the audience and the actors.
