Ch 18 - Lord Oscar is back!

 *Swoosh!* *Swoosh!*

A humanoid shadow traversed from trees to trees as the forest gradually grew darker. He extended his hand toward a tree branch, then a rope-like vine extended from that hand of his and coiled around the tree branch.

In the next moment, he let his body get pulled down by the gravity as the vine held him back while swinging him forward. The tree branch made a creaking sound as it bent downward due to the weight applying on it.

But the vine that had coiled around the branch had been suddenly loosened and extracted back to the figure, making the tree branch swung back to its original position with a slight vibration after effect.

The figure that had shot himself into the air due to the leftover momentum from the centrifugal force had once again extended his hand to the front and extended his vine toward that direction. However, the vine could only grab thin air as there was no branch for it to coil around.

He didn’t realize that due to how dark the forest had become. And with nothing else to grab ahold, he then quickly fell down due to the gravity.

“Uwahhhhh!,” he cried out while swinging his arm wildly only to find nothing to help him from falling.

He fell onto the ground below and groaned in pain.

“Ouch, that hurts so much!”

Oscar rolled down from the bush before checking his body. He touched and tapped along his limbs to find whether his bone was broken somewhere or not. And he found out that his leg was bent in a weird angle. His leg was probably broken when he fell.

Letting out a long sigh, he forced his eyes closed and gritted his teeth to endure the upcoming pain. His both hands grabbed on the broken leg as he counted a number in his mind.

“1…, 2…, OUCH!!!”

He forcefully bent his leg back to the correct position as he felt the pain running through his entire leg. A dim light glowed around the wound and he could feel the pain slowly faded down.

His finger traced on the leg as he made sure that his broken leg was really healed. He tapped his leg. Yes, it was back to its original shape, he thought as he let out a sigh in relief.

During the time that he had used the vines to sling his body from trees to trees, his shoulders were dislocated several times, but he had learned that they would be healed if he was to force them back to their original position.

Still, although this extraordinary ability to heal himself is great and all, it couldn’t heal his fatigue both physically and mentally. Right now, his original white delicate skin had turned deep red due to overexerting his force for an entire day. Sweat streaked down his body like a stream and the hotness like being burned in a bonfire indicated that his body was already at its limit.

“*pant* *pant* It seemed I have to stop here today although the distance between me and Lunus is still this great… I can’t keep up with his speed at all.”

Oscar buried his face between his knee while trying to calm himself. After a while, he looked up at the dark sky as he took a deep breath.

“How did he travel that far in just a single night? What should I do to meet up with him again?”

He kept asking questions that he didn’t know how to answer.

“There should be a way for me to travel faster and become stronger than this.”

He threw questions and curiosity toward the pitch black sky; however, there was not a single reply from the void except a cold wind that swept his body as if it wanted to soothe his heart.

Right now Oscar was tired, very tired. He had slung from trees to trees since when he decided to tush after Lunus this morning. He didn’t even have a proper lunch as he wanted to make up for the huge gap between them as much as he could.

Taking a break here might be a good idea, he thought as his back slowly lied down while feeling the pain on his back from the muscle fatigue.

But when he put all his weight onto his back and dropped it on the ground, he felt a fluffy object on his back that lifted the center of his back up from the ground.

“W-What is this?”

He got surprised and sprung back up, not caring the aching muscles all around his body that were crying out.

He reached toward his back and brought the fluffy thing into his front. There, a fluffy white rabbit was staring at him with its round, black eyes. It raised its front paw up as if saying hi while making a cute sound *Kyuu*.

“Why are you here? Didn’t I told you to stay there?”

*Kyuu~*

“You are worrying me? Don’t worry, my vines are so strong. I think I can somehow fight monsters with these.”

*Kyu, kyu, kyuu*

“The green warts are strong so you want to help? That’s why you should wait for me at the tree trunk! It’s dangerous for a rabbit out here!”

*Kuu…*

The rabbit gave Oscar another pleading face as tears began to gather at the corner of its eyes.

“Gu… Do you want to stick around me no matter what? Then just do whatever you want, but I don’t guarantee that I can perfectly protect you so run away as soon as it looks dangerous, alright?”

*Kyu! Kyu! Kyu*

The rabbit twitched as if wanting to hop around in pleasure due to being allowed to follow Oscar.

As for Oscar, he had sighed deep in his heart as he couldn’t bear to see the white rabbit crying in front of him. To him, the rabbits and especially this one was important to him. They had hugged him when he felt cold and soothed his heart when he felt down. So he didn’t want to be the reason to make them cry.

However, he didn’t want to drag them into a fight either. And right now, his reasons were contrasting against each other in his head. Should he bring this rabbit with him? Or not? This had become another reason that made him a headache.

*Guruguruguru*

“Is your belly rumbling?”

He looked at the rabbit which was nodding wildly before opening its mouth wide to show that there was nothing inside.

*Guruguruguru*

“Ah…, this time it was mine…”

Their stomach had been empty for an entire day. And right now was a right time to find themselves a shelter and fill their growling belly with food.
