The floating ball of fire wobbled in the air, indicating that the Fire Spirits were having a good laugh at the good-natured insult. The eye on the floating ball of fire moved to look at the Fox Mother before quickly moving back to look at the hive.

*That many-tailed fox proves that you morons hadn’t been lazy but we thought it was supposed to have 9 tails. This one only got 5. What happened?*

*Who knows? You know how it goes…we pour energy into it, concentrate on the tail and it came out with 5 instead 9.*

*Your guess is as good as ours. The closest thing we could think of is the number of spirits we have in the hive but that’s probably wrong.*

*Oh! We never thought of that. Fire; Water; Nature; Air; Earth; 5 types of spirits in the hive so 5 tails! That exactly make some sort of sense.*

*But who knows if it’s right? Enough about us; what happened to you guys? We felt that big blast of energy even from here. What by the name of the 99 Gods did you idiots do?*

*You guys know how it is. Made the tunnels, create the creatures but…no human visitors! The volcano we were in had no humans anywhere near so we decided to do something to get the humans to visit.*

*Too few humans around to make that a worthwhile effort. So we decided to do something ‘big’ to get their attention.*

*…well, it definitely works because even we sent the Speaker to investigate. And we knew it was you idiots! The humans would definitely go in force towards you.*

*That’s our hope. Oh yeah! We met the Speaker! She and her group reached us already! She actually wanted to come back here to report but we told her to stay for a few days and we would visit you morons ourselves.*

*Oh that’s good. Good thing they’re safe. The Alpha pretty angry with her for going all the way to Mount Morningstar. Coming to that…how are you guys here? What is this ball of fire we’re looking at?*

“That’s right! Like we said, we have very few visitors and it was boring just creating new creatures all the time so one day, we decided to try something that would allow us to see outside the volcano.*

*Well, the ball of fire looks amazing. How far can you guys go with the spell?”

*No idea really. We haven’t reached the limit but the further we go from our volcano, the more energy we need to use to power it.*

*That makes sense but what about now? How much energy are you guys are using to ‘see’ the Kar Mountains from Mount Morningstar?*

*Hard to say but it about what we use to create a brand new creature. However it takes more energy to maintain the ‘Eye’ than to actually create it. That’s the main problem.*

*Oh yes, that’s what humans called it. We sometimes used the eye to look at the human settlements but every time they see us, they go screaming, “The Eye!”, “The Eye!”, and then they go “Run!” Don’t ask us why, we don’t get it ourselves.*

*But it’s good to hear you guys aren’t hurt when you lose the Eye though we have to wonder why the humans attack it.*

*The first time they saw the Eye the humans said something like, “Behold; a monster!” Maybe they thought it was some sort of monster.*

The spirits within the hive immediately went into frenzy. All of them wanted the spell of the Fire Hive but almost all of them also acknowledged that they had a simple big problem…

“We have nothing to trade.” A spirit said.

“Yes, we do!” Another spirit argued. “We created creatures like the Horned Rabbit and the Fox Mother. We can use those to trade.”

“Oh please…you think the Fire Spirits don’t know how to do those things? They were right here when we created the Cerberus. They want something new!”

“Wait, are we calling the three-head dogs Cerberus? I/we thought we weren’t going to use that name?”

“WHAT? You are focused on that despite the problem we have now?”

“We are a hive. We can focus on a lot of things at the same time. So are we going to use that name?”

“Oh, will you shut up about that! Focus on the problem on hand please!”

“Okay, no need to shout. Just asking…”

“Look,” a spirit finally said. “Let’s just tell the Fire idiots we have nothing. All we did since they left were digging and creating some new creatures. Tell them to give the spell to us and we would return the favor in the future.”

“NO!”

The vast majority of the hive objected to this immediately.  Most of them had no desired to be laughed at by the Fire Spirits and then…one of the spirits had an idea.
