Doll's Blessings

Tilda looks at the bodies. "Tilda thinks she said, but she can get things from bodies. Tilda didn't realise, though, that Tilda was getting these... Levels. Zildra has them too, so... Maybe monsters grow even if they aren't like us. Tilda isn't sure. But since the only things monsters kill is adventurers, and thinking monsters... Tilda doesn't think they grow as much as they could."

Zildra looks distant again, and Tilda speaks a little louder, hoping to keep her listening.

"Tilda didn't know she could evolve, either. But Tilda thinks she was able to from the beginning. Tilda didn't get the Blessing of Adventurer until she killed an adventurer. But Tilda started with two blessings, she knows that. But Blessing of Adventurer isn't just useful for levels, and knowing what Tilda or Zildra can do. Tilda doesn't know what a pact does, although she can feel Zildra shares something with Tilda. But she knows what a party does, even if, maybe, adventurers don't. Tilda would have to see a party to be sure."

Zildra taps her chin, and slowly makes her way to the bookshelves. She reaches for a book, and begins flipping through the pages. Tilda briefly sees the title.

"Guild Handbook, CY 302"

Zildra mutters, and even up close, Tilda can barely hear. Tilda doesn't say anything, but she thinks, even from their short time, Zildra mutters a lot. Zildra thinks a lot too. Tilda likes the latter more. But soon enough, Zildra nods firmly, and hrmphs in satisfaction.

"Now... 'A party is necessary for any dungeon exploration, as solo adventurers can easily be ambushed due to exhaustion caused by the inability to sleep in unsafe areas. There is no set composition to a party, and some weaknesses...' Ugh... Adventurers take so many words to say 'We need to sleep, and we can't do everything, so we work together'..." Tilda nods, and reads as well. She's slower than Zildra, but they both arrive at the end of the segment at the same time. And Zildra hrmphs again.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"They know about levels, and experience, and those... Numbers... But that's all a party is." She closes the book, but holds it up. "This is good at explaining some things I assume are from above, like what plants adventurers need look like, and where they can be found. It even talks about monsters up to the 6th floor, traps, how they choose to say an adventurer is better... But it doesn't say anything about what we can see."

Tilda nods, tilting her head as she thinks. And nods again, her voice firm as she speaks.

"Then adventurers don't know what a party does. And they might not do it. A party..." Tilda pauses, although she doesn't know why. And continues. "...A party shares experience. They don't share skills, or titles, or magic. But when someone in a party kills a monster, the party gains experience. All of them." Tilda waves her arms and tilts her head from side to side "...Well, it gets split. So we're a party of two. We kill... A slime? A slime... And we get half as much as we would killing it on our own. But that happens even if one of us doesn't do anything." Tilda slumps a little, and pouts. "Not that a slime gives Tilda much, except an arm that hurts..."

Zildra blinks. "Is that why you were so burned, and, from what I saw, were silly enough to dive into a giant one?"

Tilda pouts harder, and her annoyance is clear. "Tilda has to touch cores with her hands to eat them. Tilda's knife doesn't work, and Tilda's magic doesn't work."

Zildra looks down, and says something, a little amused, that makes Tilda slump even harder, feeling sorry for herself.

"Couldn't... Tilda have used her magic to cut away the slime until it was smaller?"

...

Tilda... Could have.
