Chapter 15-Returning the Favor
Louise was playing with the recording device that she got from Madam Garcy. She was sitting cross-leg on a couch inside her chamber. In front of her was the kid that she pulled out from Sylvy. The kid lowered his head, and he was sitting on his knees. The previous arrogance that he had before was all gone.
“Now, what should I do with you?”
The kid looked at her with sad eyes, seemingly asking her to be merciful.
“I’m not fond of kids, and don’t look at me with those eyes, trust me, it will not work,” she spoke while lightly tapping the recording device.
When the kid heard this, he lowered his head again.
Louise stood up and walked towards the toddler. She kneeled before him to have the same eye level. She then placed her hand on his head and lightly ruffled his ice-cold hair.
“Do you want to get back to that Mage?” Louise asked as if she was luring kids to do some bad things.
The kid nodded but meekly answered. “I do. But that mage was powerful. I can’t beat that mage.”
Louise gently smiled and responded.
“Of course, on your level, that mage is quite strong. I will make a deal with you. I’ll help you eliminate that thing, but in return, you’ll have to serve me as your master,” she offered him.
The kid paused and was quite hesitant. He doesn’t want to serve anybody. Though he was still a kid now, their clan was powerful if you compare them to other magical creatures out there. He still had his pride.
Louise raised her brow and later sighed. “Go.”
“Huh?” the kid was shocked.
“I’m telling you to go and return to your clan. If you don’t want me to be your master, then I won’t force you. Still, I need to deal with that mage. Just think of it as your borrowing a sword to kill others.”
She waved her hand, stood up then walked back to the couch. Louise then heard the kid spoke.
“Are you strong?”
Louise sat and gazed at the ice creature.
“You are from the frost clan, aren’t you?” The mage suddenly asked.
“Why do you ask?"
"Are you on the upper level?” Louise continued to question the kid ignoring his previous query.
The kid suddenly puffed up his chest without knowing where their conversation was going.
“I may not look like it, but I am an heir to our clan.”
“Really?”
Louise trailed off before smiling, “Then I will share with you some secret that I didn’t even mention to the Duke.”
“Secret?” The kid’s voice had a hint of excitement when he heard the word.
She beckoned the frost creature to be near her, which the latter immediately obeyed. When the toddler reached Louise, the mage leaned on his hear and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could listen to.
The ice’s creature eyes widened when she finished her words; he then stared at Louise with many complicated emotions on his face.
The latter placed her index finger on her lips while smiling, “It’s a secret. Got it?”

*******
Night. One of the isolated areas at the Green Kingdom.
If you travel via carriage thirty minutes west from the Capital, you will reach a particular village. The area could be considered one of the poorest parts of the kingdom. Most of the houses were nipa huts, and they were few distances away from each other.
The sound of crickets and toads was the only thing you could hear from the silence of the night. But there was one particular hut where you could observe a cloud of smoke. There was also a pungent smell coming from it that was permitting the air.
A girl was currently stirring a big pot in front of her. She had black hair tied in a ponytail. She had a very plain face to be ordinary, so common that you would easily forget it.
But the girl’s eyes were calm and emotionless. She was about twenty years old.
There were tons of ingredients scattered on the table. But if you observe, most of the ingredients were poisonous. If you looked up at the ceiling, you would see different kinds of animals carcasses hung in the air.
At the right side of the table was a chair where a red hood was placed. Of course, the girl was none other than the mage who provided Madam Garcy the poisonous wine and cast the spell that made the Duke’s first daughter, Sylvy, on the verge of death. The mage's name was Lira.
With a stoic face, a wicked smile started to form from the mage’s lips. This was power. If you were strong, you could make everyone bow to you, even nobles.
Lira was one of the highest-ranking mages in the Green Kingdom. But contrary to other mages who chose to serve the royal family, she decided to use her power for herself.
Loyalty? What a bunch of nonsense. In this cruel world, being selfish was the best defense.
She continued to put ingredients into her potion bottle, and a strong smell was coming from it.
“Woah, what a strong smell of poison. Quite diligent, aren’t we?”
She flinched upon hearing a girl’s voice coming from behind. She right away cast her power to capture the intruder.
Louise casually waved her hand to break the power that the girl cast and stepped out from the darkness.
Behind her was the ice kid who chose to tag along with her.
She was not wearing a veil, so her beautiful face was showing. She looked straight at the girl and then looked at the potions that she was making.
The girl furrowed her brows, and her eyes showed a vicious glint on them. Then she looked at the kid who was behind the intruder, and her eyes suddenly shrunken.
Louise smiled at her.
“You guessed that right. This was the kid whom you captured and thrust to that girl.”
She spoke without waiting for her to ask anything.
“Oh? Is that so? I can’t remember,” the mage in front of her immediately denied it.
Louise just shrugged her shoulder. She stepped a little closer to the girl, but the girl suddenly raised her hand, and lots of magic potion shattered into pieces, and a strong smell of poison permitted the air.
“Hahaha. Do you think you can defeat me and do what you want here because you are another mage? Let me tell you this, this place is my territory, and so I am the master here.”
She looked at the kid behind and smiled wickedly.
“You wait. After I finish this bitch off, I’ll-”
Before she was able to finish her sentence, a bluish aura shoot towards her. Luckily, she was able to dodge it by a small margin.
“Are you taking me as a dead person because of these potions? Aren’t you a bit overconfident?”
The mage raised her brows. It seemed like this intruder was quite strong.
“Who are you? I don’t remember having enmity with you.”
“Before you don’t, but now you do. Aren’t you trying to finish me off earlier?”
The Mage glare at her. “What do you want?”
“I guess I may need your memory?”
The girl laughed mockingly.
“And you think you can?” she waved her hand, a solid red aura enveloped the room.
“Hahaha, I’ll give you the honor to know my name since from this point onwards, you are as good as dead.”
“Name my foot. Apologies, but I’m not interested.” Louise brushed it off.
Louise raised her right hand, and a stronger bluish aura filled the room, which covered the Mage power and shot forward. The mage was caught off guard when she received the impact of the force. She stumbled backward and coughed some blood.
Lira gazed at the mage in front of her with disbelief which the latter responded with a smirk. Louise leisurely walked towards her and placed her right hand over her head. She wanted to remove it, but she was weak due to the impact of the attack.
“..W-Who are you?” Lira asked with some difficulty.
“Oh, you want to know who I am?” Louise asked while smiling.
“Fine, I’ll tell you.” Then she gave an impassive look, “I’ll tell you if we meet in the afterlife.
Lira flinched, “You….”
“Hey,” Louise called out the ice creature.
“Ah! Yes, ma’am!”The kid seemed to recover from his shock.
“I don’t have much enmity with her," she spoke, then turned her head, "So I will leave this thing to you.”
The toddler stared coldly at the now dying mage. Then he opened his small palm, and small white insects rose from it and slowly covered the mage body.
“It would be a pity if you die faster just like that.” Then, he spoke with some indifference, “I’ll let you enjoy the pain as a sincere thanks for what you did.”
The mage’s eyes widened, but her mouth seemed paralyzed, and she couldn’t speak any words.
“Let’s go.” It was Louise.
She doesn’t really care if someone will discover this mage. The village's geography and the arrangement of houses were designed so everyone could mind their own business. But she doesn’t want to leave some annoying things.
“This house will be burned two days later,” Louise informed the kid.
“That would be enough time.” The kid responded.
Both of them vanished after that.
