Chapter 12-Madam Garcy Paid a Visit
Midnight. Madam Garcy's sleeping quarter.
A human figure was sitting across Madam Garcy; one could not tell whether the visitor was male or female, and a hood covered his/her face.
"Did you brought the things that I asked you?" Madam Garcy asked.
The midnight visitor waved its hand and produced a potion and a necklace with a diamond pendant. Then, in a hoarse voice, the hooded person replied:
"These are the things that you have requested. This potion can poison its victim, but it will not show the symptoms right away. It is also lethal and vicious as it will destroy the victim's internal organs, make a person invalid, and die in a painful death."
The visitor in hood continued to explain."This pendant will record everything for you. However, it required me a lot of mana, so you should take care of it."
Madam Garcy smiled. "Of course, I still wanted to thank you for your service to me of Alysson's daughter. You did an excellent job."
"You paid for my service, so you don't have to thank me." The hooded person replied with some indifference.
Madam Garcy pulled out a bag of money and placed it in front of her visitor. The mysterious guest grabbed it and made a wave of a hand, and the bag vanished. Madam Garcy, on the other hand, kept those things that she received.
"If that is all, then I will be leaving."
The human in hood produced a talisman with complicated runes. It glimmered with a greenish aura, and the visitor suddenly disappeared. Garcy smiled when she was left alone, and a plan was already forming in her head. In two days, the Duke needed to travel to the King's palace upon the King's request to discussed court matters and needed to stay there in two days and one night. So she will make sure to deal with that girl and make sure that she should know her place.
A few days later, the Duke left his residence for the King's castle. He already informed Louise about the matter. The Duke was confident that the latter would not cause any trouble and knew that she could take care of herself.
Madam Garcy, on the other hand, prepared her moves. Together with her two servants, she went to the gate of the West Wing of the castle. But she was blocked by the two standby guards.
"Apologies, Madam, but the Duke instructed us that no one can enter this place except him." Then, one of the guards spoke.
Madam Garcy raised her brow and looked at the two guards. Then, one of her servants suddenly shouted.
"Impudent! She was the second wife of the Duke and had the power to command in this household. Who are you to block her path?"
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The guards, however, stood firm and refused to obey. Madam Garcy laughed lightly and talked to the guard.
"My apologies, I already heard that the Duke spoke those commands. I knew that he would leave today for the King's castle, so I already asked his permission to enter the West wing and visit his adopted daughter," she said those sentences with a smiling face that suddenly turned dim.
The two guards looked at each other.
"Since the Duke already gave his permission, are you telling me that you will still not allow me to enter?"
Hearing those words, the guards hesitated a bit.
"You don't have to worry at all. If the Duke found out, I will take responsibility," she promised.
The two guards then nodded, "If that's the case, then we trust the madam."
The two guards made their way, and Garcy's group walked past them. But the second wife smirked when they were few distances away, and she muttered in a low voice.
"Idiots."
The group went inside the Moon Palace. Garcy looks around, followed by her two servants.
"I can't believe that my husband is wasting this space for the sake of his mother's memory. I think this place suits me better." She turned to one of her servants and asked, "What do you think?"
"Of course, madam."
"And there is some shameless person whose residing here. Tsk."
They continued to walk and found the entrance. The servant lightly knocked on the door.
****
Louise was currently sitting crossed leg on one of the chairs in the receiving area. She was propping her face and looking at the door as if waiting for someone to come. She was wearing her muslin veil.
There was a knock from the door, and a voice was heard from behind."Madam Garcy is here to visit."
She slightly smirked and spoke. "Come in."
The door was open, and Madam Garcy entered together with her two servants. What welcomed their view was a girl sitting cross leg while propping her chain. A veil covered her face, only showing her blue eyes.
Madam Garcy was slightly taken aback but eventually recovered her composure. Today, she prepared for everything. Garcy wore the recording mana stone and already activated it upon entering the place. She wanted to see what would be the face of this bitch in front of her; unfortunately, she covered it. She smiled at her as if an amiable mother came to talk to her child.
Louise almost rolled her eyes. This woman knows how to act. She then spoke from behind her veil.
"Please take a seat."
Garcy sat across from her while her two servants stood beside her. Then, finally, she opened her mouth and introduced herself.
"My name is Garcy Royce Harrington. I'm the second wife of the Duke. I apologize for the sudden intrusion, but as the Duke's wife, I only wanted to know the identity of the person whom he brought at home."
The girl did not respond and waited for her to continue.
She gestured at one of the servants, and it stepped forward and brought the wine where she put the magic potion and placed it on the center table.
"This is a rare wine that I bought. Please take it as a gift from me."
Louise looked at her with amusement and suddenly called.
"Heron."
They all looked at the door leading to the kitchen and noticed an adorable female kid walking towards them. She was holding a tray with a wine glass placed on it. The three of them were shocked. They only heard that the Duke brought only a girl and nothing about mentioning a kid.
"This is?" Garcy questioned with some confusion.
"She is my assistant." Louise introduced, "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Louise Von Royall."
Upon reaching them, Heron placed the tray on the center table. Reach out for the wine opened it, and pour each glass a wine. They were even amazed that such a toddler could do that, but the veiled girl just ignored it.
In a melodious voice, Louise spoke.
"I thank you for your kindness and generosity, Madam. As a form of my appreciation, why don't we drink the wine that you brought? They said that the wine is delicious if you shared it with someone."
Upon hearing it, Madam Garcy suddenly stiffened.
