Special Eyes

Chapter 1

“Oi how’d we end up getting this shift.”

“Its cuz you pissed off the captain again.”

“Na he’s just wound up to tight. I mean all I did was suggest we needed more security near the entrance. Magical beasts tend to roam more often this time of night.”

“And look where that got us. Guard shift in the middle of the night.”

“Yeah but have you noticed that something is up with the captain. He seems uptight more often.”

“It’s probably because the priest is ordering him around him more as of late.”

“Don’t know why the captain puts up with her. I man he’s a level 7 esper. If I was that strong I

wouldn’t take nothing from no one.”

“Listen Don the captain may be strong, but to be a priest in this cult means she’s at least an advance stage mage. I bet you she’s middle tier one to. Plus she makes money for the church with all her freaky human experiments.

“Whatever I’d bet money on the captain any day.”

“Shh Rick did u hear that”

‘What”

“Listen”

“Waaahhh”

“Oi Don go check it out.”

“Rick come over here.”

“What in Asohpis is this? A baby. Who’d just leave a baby out here? And how’d they get here. The forest is full of beast this time of night and they’d have to pass through the ate. On top of that where a good three miles away from the nearest town.”

“More importantly look at its eyes.”

Gazing at the child nothing seemed strange. It had black hair, tanned skin not until he looked closely did he find something off about the child.” There glowing.” The child’s eyes were indeed glowing; they shined pure silver just like the moon that hung above their heads.

“I aint never heard of eyes like this, except on a mage and that’s only when there casting a spell.”

“It’s stopped.”

“What”

“His eyes they’ve stopped glowing. C’mon let’s bring him inside” Rick said scooping up the baby.

“What! The cult aint no place for a child.”

“Nonsense better in there than dead. Besides even the priest wouldn’t hurt a kid”

“Whatever do what u want”

“Chuckling Rick said c’mon welcome to your new home the cult of destruction.”

6 years later

Within the forest commonly known as the forest of beast by all who know of it sat a boy. The boy had his closed shut and could be confused for sleeping, that is if it wasn’t for the silver mist swirling around his body.

“It’s taken a year but I’ve got it down. Now I just have to pull the spiritual energy out of the elemental energy and into my body. Hah and the textbooks said it couldn’t be done. Wonder what face the priest would make if she saw this.”

The mist receded into the boy’s body. His eyelids opened revealing two glowing silver eyes. “Alight gotta concentrate”. The boy then put out his hand. A glowing silver orb followed out of his palm and hovered above his finger. The orb then grew 1,2,3,4, 5 feet then stopped. “Now to compress it.” The orb then shrunk to the size of a marble. ”Test shot number one.” The boy then fired the orb against a tree. “Oh it went straight through. Now to test sharpness.”The boy put out his finger and a glowing blade of pure silver light extended from his finger. Slash. The blade sliced through the trunk of the tree. The tree however stood still as if nothing happened.” Hmm was it not sharp enough”. Suddenly the tree fell straight on the boy.

“Clunk. The mana shield is doing good to. Now to test control.” A silver wall of energy that protected the boy from the tree suddenly morphed into a giant hand. The hand lifted the tree up and put it back on the trunk. “Now to test manipulation.” Then the boy rested his hand on a tree. After glowing slightly the tree returned to its previous condition. “Hmm now to the tricky part enhancement.”

“Raylon a voice cried out.” Dang she’s back again. A black haired girl with light brown eyes came out of the forest she was less than a head shorter than Raylon. “Hey Raylon you know you’re not supposed to be out here. My big sister said your too weak to come in the forest.”

“What are you doing out here Silvia? If I remember correctly the priest didn’t want you to be in the forest either.” Why does she always come in the middle of practice?

“So what unlike you I can cast magic, Intermediate fire magic most people don’t reach my level till there 15 and I’m only six. All you have is spiritual energy. Without elemental energy you can’t even cast magic and I heard your body’s too week so you can’t even use it to enhance your body like the warriors. You should be thankful that I came besides I was only coming to warn you my sister is looking for you. Oh yeah if I was you I’d hurry she seems to be in a bad mood.”

If only they knew what you could really do with spiritual energy. “Got it ill hurry back, thank you for telling me Silvia.”

“Whatever let’s get back the sooner you talk to sis the sooner I can play.”

Walking back from the forest they passed through giant silver gates and could spot the outline of the church. It was a giant building made completely out of white stone. The building branched out for at least a hundred meters. “C’mon lets go through the side I don’t want sis to spot us.

The side door opened up to a giant hall with white walls covered in paintings.

"Hurry up she’s in the lab." They walked to a metal door opening it to the laboratory. There were tables strewn throughout the room with countless herbs scattered on the tables. Looming over one of the tables was a woman. She looked exactly like Silvia except in her mid twenties and with a larger chest. She also wore white robes with a square with a line in the middle which added the appearance of a priest. Hearing the children’s footsteps she decided to turn around.

“Raylon where were you.”

“I was meditating”

“You were meditating sounds like a waste of time.”

“Sorry priest Sonia” Wonder what the lunatic wants this time.

“Don’t be you can’t control how pathetic you are. However you can make yourself useful there are some potions I need you to test out she said smiling sinisterly.”

Raylon’s hand twitched at that. It’s not time yet. You’re lucky there are to many guards or I would’ve killed you when I first learned to control my mana he thought but on the outside he smiled “Of course I’d love to.”

At that moment the door opened. An imposing man stepped in with bulging muscles and cold calculating eyes he carried himself with an aura of authority.

Sonia greeted the man “what can I do for you captain.”

“I need to speak with you his eyes swept over the children straying on Raylon alone”

“Very well out you two.”

Raylon and Silvia exited the room looking curiosly behind them as they left.

Raylon glanced at the girl as they rounded a corner.” I’ll catch up with you in a minute.”

“Alright, hurry up though I want to play tag.

Now what are you two up to. Willing mana to his ears Raylon listened in on the conversation beyond the metal door.

“It’s time to give him his sacrifice a gruff voice said.”

“Shame I guess I’m finally losing my toy.”

“It’s sad the boy had to live his life under a lunatic like you and die so young.”

“The boy should be thankful. A year ago I even attempted to teach him magic. It’s his fault he’s so inept. I can’t believe he lacked any elemental affinity. Even normal people have a little affinity.

“Inept? You yourself said he had spiritual energy that rivaled a grandmaster a year ago.”

“Spiritual energy is only used to control the elements. It’s impossible to physically manifest. And even if you could it would be incredibly weak. He may have more control over mana then even most masters. But if he has nothing to control then that makes him useless. Most warriors could use it to enhance themselves but his body was too weak to withstand it. ”

“Whatever but at least let the boy have his last day in peace without your crazy experiments and remember I will be going to the capital for several days so I won’t be there for the ritual tomorrow. I will take a couple of my troops with me so stay on guard”

Raylon cut off the mana in his ear then slipped away. Seems that it’s finally time to strike.
