Vol.2|Chapter 2: Brotherhood| Part 2

----------------------------------------

He was out of ammo... he quickly stepped back and said,

“W-why did you kill so many people?” I quickly got aggravated and said,

“Didn’t you hear me?! I said I woke up with AMNESIA! I don’t remember anything about my fucking past!” He clicked his tongue and said,

“Whatever…”

“Why are you getting so aggressive with him, Jinn? Leave him alone, he probably didn’t do it consciously! He would never do something like that!” Said Nightshade. She… is defending me? I really mean a lot to her, don’t I?

“One of my friend’s family died from an earthquake that week of the apocalypse… maybe I shouldn’t be holding grudges like these but, he was a good friend.”

“Well Jinn, I apologize for whatever my past self did to the people of Greenterra, but you got to realize I’m not that person anymore.” He sighed, leaned back on the side of the ship and said,

“So, where are you taking us?”

“I’m going to meet with Shizuka Aizawa, I need her to help me with problems I have.” I didn’t want to tell him about my personal problems, so I didn’t go too much into detail about it.

“Are you trying to recover your memories?” He asked me.

“Yes, I want to remember all the people dear to me, for now, I only remember a few things about Nightshade.”

“Ok… just, don’t go crazy again after you remember.”

“Yeah, I promise I won’t, but not to you, I promise to Nightshade,” I said.

“Hey, what did I do?!” He asked me.

“Seriously? You realize I saved you, and then you proceeded to point a gun at me?”

“Yeah… whatever. I let my emotions take over.” I looked at Nightshade and asked,

“Hey uhm, Nightshade, could we talk in private for a minute?” She looked at me and said,

“O-of course.” We walked down to the sleeping quarters where we were alone. “What is it?” She asked me.

“Could you… tell me about my past?”

“Hmm, I don’t remember much since pixies have a bad memory, but I can try my best.”

“That’s alright.”

“One condition though.”

“What is the condition?”

“So…” she blushed, “I haven’t been able to sleep well for a year…. So…”

“So…?”

“I was wondering if…” Hmm? Why is a pixie getting nervous? Then, I heard her softly talking under her breath, “What is this feeling?” Some seconds passed, and I said,

“Uhm… anytime now.”

“W-whatever! I’ll tell you all I know.” She started talking about me meeting her on my way back from eating a fruit that she wanted or something like that. She said that I was with someone that looked exactly like me, that must be the girl on my necklace, so I showed it to her, and she said,

“Yes, her! I forgot her name but, I think she was your girlfriend.”

“My girlfriend?! But she apparently looked just like me!” Oh god, I hope I wasn’t a weirdo back then.

“I forgot that part, but you weren’t siblings.” After that, she talked something about a battle, us winning, and then her leaving for Tokiri Islands where she would be accepted back into the pixie kingdom of the black ash tree, but she decided to leave because she missed me. I quickly started growing attached to her as I saw her eyes sparkling when she mentioned things about us and the fun conversation we had together.

“I was also very naïve back then compared to now. Pixies age quickly to their prime, so in this past year, I went from 13 to 16 years old in human years. Every human year that passes, pixies grow 3 years older both mentally and physically, 22 is the max. Before I was three feet tall, now I am 4 feet 5 centimeters tall-” I decided to get closer to her and give her a warm hug.

“Well, I’m glad you’re ok, Nightshade. From now on, I want you to stay at my side; I promise I’ll find somewhere safe to keep you while I-” I softly felt a deep breathing pattern on my chest. I looked down at her and noticed that she was sleeping since her wings disappeared. (When pixies sleep beside the thing they adore, their wings disappear, and their body warmth rises) Hmmm, that’s probably what she wanted, have a little nap with me. Her hair smells like lavender… and she is so soft, almost like a pillow. I felt her warmth quickly rise as she fell into a deep state of sleep.

I softly picker her up and laid her on a nearby hammock where we both could fit. Poor girl, for not sleeping well for a year, she finally deserves some sleep, it’s going to take us two or four days to arrive at North Greenterra anyways. I yawned, I’ve been on the move for three days, I’m can’t lie and say I’m not tired too. Jinn walked in while I was laid next to her.

“Yeah, she told me she hasn’t been able to sleep without you.” He said.

“It’s a bit weird, but I felt a sudden attachment to her.”

“Well, she is technically your little sister, right?”

“I guess you can say that counting the foreign pixies rules in, she is my sister in law,” I said. The foreign pixie rule states, ‘A pixie can’t travel by herself; she must have a human or cloud elf at her side. If she does travel with a human or cloud elf, she will be considered a family of said person until the human or cloud elf isn’t there to support the fact.’ As you can see, pixies are not liked very much by humans, but cloud elves convinced them to allow them in with this rule.

“Tell me about you, Jinn. Where are you heading?”

“Hmm, now that Nightshade found you, I will also need to go to the N.A.O.S to find some people that can help me with a problem of mine.”

“Ah, ok. Then we can both head over there if you want.”

“Sure, I don’t mind.” Out of nowhere, I heard Nightshade say softly,

“I love you…”

“Huh? I thought Pixies are unable to fall in love.” I said.

“They say that a lot while they sleep on their tree, since they can talk to them, so the tree understands those words, and it makes the tree feel better.”

“Ah… well, I surely feel better.” Jinn chuckled and said,

“You know, I also have a younger sibling.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, his name is Yosuke.”

“How is he?”

“He is actually in a coma… that’s why I need someone to heal his illness.”

“Ah… I see. So, what’s that behind your back that you had before?” I asked him.

“Oh,” He took out his singularity, a cylindrical shaped glass container appeared behind his back strapped around him with shiny blue lights in the middle, “This is my Astral Accelerator.”

“Your what?”

“To recharge the special ammunition that I use for my astral guardians.”

“Ah, so all of that is part of your singularity? That’s impressive.”

“Well, not exactly. I had a woman build the Accelerator for me; when I didn’t have it, the only way for me to charge my pistols was to stargaze.”

“Stargaze? How does that even work?” I asked. I felt Nightshade softly tightening her grip on me as she slept.

“I use my Eagle-Eye to absorb all the information given by the stars.”

“Eagle-Eye? Information given by the stars?”

“Ok, ok, let me start from the beginning. I was born with two singularities, Astral Guardians and Eagle-Eye; the priest in Tokiri said I was special because of that specific reason.”

“What does Eagle-Eye do?”

“It scans for weak spots in enemies, giving me a bunch of information; if I scan stars, I will get their information which will feed the weapons.”

“Stars have information. Interesting.”

“Yes, every single star has a history to them, they are very special to me. But sometimes I can’t stargaze, so I can’t refill my ammunition, instead, I asked this woman to make this accelerant which builds up stardust as I move.”

“Hmm… I get it now.”

“What about you? What’s yours?”

“I don’t know, I don’t think I have one.”

“What? Everyone has one.”

“Well maybe I did, but not anymore… I actually have PTSD every time I enter combat.”

“Can’t Nightshade help you with that?” He asked me.

“What do you mean?”

“Physical Crescendo plus her Divine Vocals could possible heal your illness, if not, at least let you fight while you listen to her music.” I instantly started getting flashbacks of Nightshade’s singularity.

“Oh, that’s right! Thank you for reminding me, I’ll talk to her when she wakes up.”

“No problem. I’ll head back up; someone needs to keep watch for other ships and beasts in this open ocean.” He started walking away from me. I look at Nightshade who was resting her head on my shoulder, I saw her long and mystical purple hair flowing across the hammock. Gentle red lips and a fragile nose letting out a soft and restful breathing pattern. Her lavender aroma. All these characteristic made me even more attached to her, how can someone be annoyed by this? I softly brushed her hair off her face and thought to myself, ‘I’m really glad she is ok; she is too innocent for the horrors of this world.’

“Hey, Jinn,” I said. He stopped, then turned his torso towards me.

“Yes?”

“Thank you… for keeping Nightshade safe… It means a lot to me.” My little sister? I definitely feel somewhat of a similar love for her as a little sister. I just want to protect her and see her grow up happy, hopefully by my side so I can teach her all I learn. If Jinn feels a similar way like this to his little brother, then I have to help him.

“Oh, don’t mention it.”

“I’ll help you out with your little brother after I talk to Aizawa; I owe you a big one.”

“…” He smiled at me and said, “Alright, deal.” I got up and shook his hand. He left, and as I turn back I noticed Nightshade flying towards me with arms open, knocking me into the ground while she was on top of me softly punching my chest.

“I haven’t been able to sleep like that forever! And you just get up and leave?! You’re so mean! You know I’ve missed it.” I smiled at how cute she was. Noticed that she was still blushing even now.

“I wasn’t even going to leave. I was going to go back to the cutest pixie ever.” I said while playfully flicking her nose. She stood quiet with an embarrassed look for a second, then hugged me. I’ve recently not felt much emotions lately… it was all cold and dry. But as soon as she reached into my emotional depth by a simple feel… by a simple hug, I started feeling more alive. “Nightshade?” As I looked back at her, she was asleep again.
