Amelda stood unfazed the fact that her opponent was a lieutenant, one of the highest posts in the Revolutionary Army after the commander. He was a tall man with quite a sturdy physique. He’s lance was an enchanted relic that had a double-sided blade.
He glanced at Amelda,
“Girl, you have some fine pair of swords there. I only have seen quite a few dual sword relics such as yours. Please don’t bear any grudge if I take those, of course after when I am done killing you.” he said with a smug look.
Amelda stared back,
“Stop daydreaming, will you? I will be the one to have the last laugh. But don’t worry, I won’t take your lance, it’s quite ugly.”
“You brat! This ugly lance will be the one to end your miserable life-” shouted the Lieutenant as he charged forward to attack.
Amelda dashed towards the Lieutenant.
But soon she disappeared in front of the Lieutenant’s eyes and closed on his blind side.
But the Lieutenant noticed this in the last-second and used his lance to block Amelda’s attack.
Although, her attack packed quite the punch that it pushed the Lieutenant a few feet away.
‘She’s fast, I must not take her lightly. Not to mention that expression like she enjoys the thrill of battle.’ the Lieutenant thought. Amelda had a wide grin on her face despite being in such a pinch situation.
The Lieutenant fixed his battle stance posture and started taking Amelda seriously.
“Girl, at least tell me your name so that I could make a proper tombstone for standing up against me on a one-on-one duel.” asked the Lieutenant.
Amelda just stared with scorn,
“Hey, you know it’s rude to ask a girl’s name before introducing yourself.”
“My name’s Krieger, I am the lieutenant under commander Vittorio of the Revolutionary Army. Remember my name well, because I am going to send you to the afterlife.” introduced the Lieutenant himself.
“Well, I am Amelda Nevarthalises, a Magic Knight of Fiery Lions squad from the Rublor Kingdom. Now that’s done let’s fight already” saying so, Amelda once again sprinted to attack.
Krieger went to a defensive stance but once again she disappeared in front of his eyes and suddenly resurfaced in a close range in a matter of seconds.
But Krieger was ready as he already predicted her move. He swung his lance with putting his back his all weight behind it.
Amelda’s wide grin changed,
‘Oh crap!’ she thought to herself.
She used her swords to block Krieger’s attack.
Their blade collided and Amelda was sent flying away a few meters away before falling to the ground and rolled a few feet further before coming to a stop.
The rebels rejoiced in joy and cried out loud cheering for their Lieutenant.
The soldiers watched motionless Amelda lying on the ground.
Krieger started walking towards Amelda,
“That was quick, I thought you would last longer.”
Just when Brian, the soldier’s captain stepped in front of Krieger, pointing his sword. His other arm was bleeding and rendered useless because of a flying spear from a rebel that impaled his shoulder.
“Oh, you must be the captain who survived Lieutenant Bolio’s spear. I am surprised that Lieutenant Bolio missed your vital organs, never seen his throw ever miss his mark. So you going to stand against me with that busted arm?” asked Krieger as he smiled.
Brian smiled back,
“This arm is more than enough, for the likes of you. Bring it on!” he challenged.
Just when,
“Oi, captain! Stop stealing my prey.” a feminine voice interrupted.
Everyone was surprised to see that Amelda was back on her feet.
“Back off captain! Don’t you dare interrupt in our fight or I might have to kill you as well.” threatened Amelda.
Amelda slowly got up and started stretching her arms.
She seemed to have bruised her forehead, there was a small cut where blood was oozing.
Despite Krieger showing his power, she had a wide grin on her face as if she was rather enjoying it.
The Captain lowered his sword and backed away in a cold sweat. He knew that Amelda wouldn’t mind striking down the captain if he had interrupted.
Krieger looked at Amelda,
“Ha! You are quite a tough little girl, that one attack should have easily crippled your arms. Either way, you’re no match for me.” said Krieger.
Amelda started walking towards Kriger,
“Oh, just because you managed to just push me away, doesn’t mean that you’ve defeated me. Let’s go one more round.”
“Listen, girl. You already lost this battle when I stepped to battle with you,” said Krieger as let out a sigh and straightened his back casually, “You see, I am a dual relic wielder.”
“Dual relic wielder?! That cannot be...” mumbled the captain in shock.
Even Amelda stopped in her approach and stood motionless.
She gazed at Kriger with an expressionless face for a few seconds.
“Oh!” Amelda muttered, “That explains your power behind that attack. No wonder you managed to push me back.”
Krieger laughed,
“Haha! You see now. You already met my lance here which is already an enchanted relic but-”
Krieger stabbed his lance in the ground and raised both of his hands in the air, showing the backside of his hands. He was wearing a brown piece of leather gloves with a green mana stone embedded just above the knuckles.
Mana stones are magic imbued gems crafted by mages. These mana stones can be attached to any things, like weapons or armor which then gives the equipment power and magical properties. Henceforth, these same equipment are later called enchanted relics.
Kriger showed his gloves which had mana stone embedded in it.
“I know this is unfair but you are outmatched. Surrender now, and maybe I could let go but-” Krieger glanced at Amelda with a wide grin, “But surely we will let you go that is after my men ravish your body to their heart’s content. Hahaha!”

‘The rebels are as despicable as the rumors. My stomach turns upright down just listening to his yabbering.’ thought the captain of the soldiers as he glares at Krieger with disgust.
“Wow! You like yourselves talking, don’t you?” asked Amelda who was not amused by Kriger’s threats.
She starts walking towards Krieger with her twin swords in her hands,
“Well, I don’t care either way. You have two or three or a full set, I wouldn’t give a fuck unless you can give me a good fight that is-”
Amelda started speeding up.
Krieger grabbed his lance,
“I wanted to avoid killing you but there’s no stopping you, I guess.” he readied his stance.
Amelda sprinted and pulled her arms behind her back to give a powerful strike.
“A frontal attack?!” mumbled Krieger with a surprise, “You wanna battle out with strength! How pointless.”
But as soon as their blades collided sparks emitted from where their blades came in contact. Their strike was powerful but both Krieger and Amelda were pushed back away by the impact.
Kriger was surprised that Amelda managed to push him back.
“What’s the meaning of this!” he mumbled in shock.
Even the captain was surprised as well.
Amelda laughed,
“Ha! I guess that’s the most you can do despite having two relics. How disappointing.” giggled Amelda.
Kriger was surprised that Amelda was able to withstand his attack unlike before.
‘What the hell! How was she able to withstand my attack, not to mention she even pushed me back. Does she have another relic too?’ thought Krieger.
Amelda smiled,
“Oh! I don’t have another relic. I just happened to be stronger than you.” announced Amelda confidently.
Kriger calms his nerves and started smiling as well,
“Is that so? Well then, I guess I need to get serious too.”
“Oh my! I was thinking the same,” replied Amelda.
“Shall we get started?”
“You needn’t ask twice.”
Soon the relic wielders readied to battle for another round.
Meanwhile, the rebels were still pouring in the fort through the ladders and the soldiers managed to keep them at bay.
When everything was getting chaotic, Nina and Ruth were sitting on a nearby building rooftop, watching the siege at a distance.
“Hey! So what did you see?” asked Ruth.
Nina was gazing at the fort very carefully.
“I just spotted Amelda at the fort. She is already fighting one of the Rebel relic wielders. I guess my hunch was right, she couldn’t stop her thirst for battle.”
Ruth unsheathed her dagger,
“Let’s go lend her a hand,” she suggested.
Nina sat down on the rooftop,
“No need, knowing her she can handle those rebels for the time being. She’s the daughter of the commander after all. Insanity runs in that family. Either way, we should stay low and wait for Jacob’s signal.”
Ruth pouted her face in dismay,
“Come on! I don’t wanna sit here doing nothing.”
“Alright. You can start searching and marking for the other rebel with relics.”
“Great!”
Ruth sat on the roof tiles with her legs folded and started meditating. She has the ability to sense the mana emitting from relic’s mana stones. She can find any relic wielder in 5 kilometers in her range. It takes time to thoroughly search for relics and in the meantime when she’s meditating she’s vulnerable. Hence, Nina was there to guard her.
During the same time, Jacob and Zara were escorted to the commander by some of the rebels. They were taken in the opposite direction to where the siege was taking place.
Jacob was a bit suspicious,
“Hey? Why are you taking me in this direction? Shouldn’t your commander be leading your men at the siege?” he asked.
One of the rebels looked nervous,
“Well, you see our commander doesn’t get involved in such a small scale battle. He let the lieutenants lead the army in such matters.”
Jacob was a bit puzzled,
‘That’s quite an odd behavior for a commander. I hope this isn’t some trap.’
Soon they reached the edge of the city. Almost all the houses and buildings were burned down except for one small house. A lot of rebels were posted as if they were guarding that house. The rebels escorted Jacob and Zara seemed to be heading to that house.
The rebels saw them and raised their guard seeing Jacob and Zara, who both were carrying a giant Axe and a Lance each.
“Hey, no need to be so uptight! They are the backup from the headquarters, they are here to greet the commander.” said one of the fellow escorted rebels.
The rebel guards backed away,
“Is that so? But the commander is rather busy.” replied one of the rebels posted in an anxious tone.
Jacob stepped forward,
“We came from the headquarters and traveled a long distance. So it would be impolite without us greeting him,” he answered politely.
The rebel guards still obstructed our path,
“Sorry but our commander told us to not disturb him-”
Suddenly a scream of a woman was heard.
The voice came from inside the house.
The rebel guards started giggling,
“See that? He’s rather occupied at this moment. So just go to the fort-”
“Move,” said Jacob as he angrily glared at the rebels.
Zara lets out a sigh as she backs away,
‘Here he goes bonkers, anytime soon.’
Although the rebel guard obstructed Jacobs path,
“But I said the commander-”
Jacob shoved aside the rebel and walked inside the house.
“Where are you going! I said stop!” the rebel shouted as they tried to stop Jacob from entering the house.
Jacob turned around and glared angrily,
“I said I need to greet the commander, right now. Don’t get in my way.”
The rebel backed away in fear as Jacob emitted such a bloodlust. Jacob entered the house while the rebels just watched helplessly from a distance.
“So why is he taking his lance along with him?” asked the puzzled rebels.
Jacob entered the house and heard a wailing voice of a woman coming from upstairs. He followed that voice and walked upstairs. The trail of voice finally led to a room at the end of the passage. Jacob opened the door and entered.
There he saw an old bald man butt naked on the bed with a woman. The woman was naked and bruised quite badly and the old man was on top of her.
The woman saw Jacob stretched her hand,
“Please kill me.” she pleaded.
The old man turns around,
“Oh, so you must be the backup from headquarters huh?” asked the old man, “Just wait for a second, I am just about done here. Would you like to go on a round, too?”
In the next second, Jacob swung his lance with all his strength. The old man’s head was decapitated in an instant. The head went flying out of the roof whereas his headless body remained motionless.
Suddenly blood started splattering all over the room. Jacob shoved aside the headless commander’s body and reached out to help the woman.
“It’s over, you don’t need to suffer anymore.” comforted Jacob.
The woman burst in tears and hugged Jacob.
Meanwhile outside the house.
“Hey! Something burst out from the roof.” alerted one of the rebels.
“Isn’t it just a bird or something?” suggested another of the rebel guards.
When they got closer, they noticed it was their commander’s head lying in the ground.
“Enemies! Those two are enemies!” alerted the guards.
Just when a tiny flame of fire shot from one of the house windows went up in the sky and burst into beautiful blue flames like a flower.
The rebel guards surrounded Zara from all sides.
“Kill her! Her colleague just killed our commander. Traitor!” threatened the angry rebels.
Zara unsheathed her hammer from her back,
“Please stand down. You people are no match for us. I don’t wanna hurt you.” mumbled Zara in her small voice as usual.
The rebels were confused,
“What did she say?! Nevermind just kill her-”
Just when Jacob came bursting out the house from the 1st floor and landed beside Zara.
“Ganging on a girl? So unmanly.” taunted Jacob as he smugly held his lance pointing at the rebels.
“You traitor! We trusted you, and you killed the commander in such a cowardly manner.” replied the angry rebels.
“Beheading him was my way of showing compassion. Your commander was a piece of shit. Treating a lovely woman like that, he deserved to die a horrible death. But you people didn’t even bother to stop him, that makes you all equally guilty.” replied Jacob angrily.
“Kill him!” screamed the rebels as they rushed to attack him.
Jacob turned around to Zara,
“You should go ahead and lend a hand to the other girls. I shall deal with them and catch up soon.”
Zara nods her head and heads to the fort as instructed.
