The Demonic Dungeon
Chapter 1: Awakening

Chapter 1: Awakening

I blacked out. I woke up in a small room that was poorly lit with red and grey tinged light. As I looked around on closer inspection the room seems to actually be a cave with small stalagmites popping up at random intervals to make the ground uneven.

I tried looking at myself rather than the rest of my cave and was to see a small red and grey gemstone that reminded me of a cat's eye with the grey acting as a pupil and the red an iris.

Hello, young dungeon. Congratulations on your awakening.

  "Huh.. Who said that??"

I am your dungeon interface. I am here to give you a tutorial then answer any questions you may have before leaving you to your devices. Would you like to have your tutorial or do you want to have your questions answered first.

"I would like to have the tutorial first."

Very good. Your command words are very simple and to the point these will allow you to view your stats and the state of your dungeon. They will also allow you to purchase upgrades for your creatures and your dungeon. Though I must warn you some purchases may be detrimental to you and your dungeon. Say the following words in order to pull up their screen for the first time afterwards you will not have to say them in any order or all at the same time.

Indomitable Will Outcast Demonic Origin

Battles of wiil are almost certain to be in your favor.

Gained through long exposure of having little to no senses.

Guaranteed to always have enemies

Gained by not being accepted into Heaven or Hell

Demonic Evolutions come faster and stronger.

Increased affinity for fire, ice, and darkness. Decreased affinity for earth, air, and light.

Inherited by bloodline

"That was unexpected. Can you give me any hints for the species I should choose for my dungeon?

I can give more information on the ones I would recommend based on your affinities.

Demonic Humanoids

Difficulty:**

Unique to your dungeon.

Not true demons as those can only exist in Hell. They are humans with enough demonic heritage that it is able to manifest as grey or dark red skin, wings, a spaded tail, and horns. They also have small fangs and claws. Extremely intelligent as a whole enough so that individuals can choose various classes for themselves.

Increased affinity for fire, ice, and darkness. Decreased affinity for earth, air, and light.

Evolutions undefined and extremely varied

Animal

Difficulty:*

Various individual species good for creating a an environmental floor.

Some species can be tamed by intelligent races depending on the animal species and intelligent species.

Evolutions and defined but extremely varied depending on environment.

"Why did you recommend those two?"

Your affinities are practically unheard of. Having the two opposing affinities of ice and fire could lead to very interesting evolutions. As such your dungeon will increase in value despite your demonic origin title. Also it will throw off adventurers when they face against your creations and while being demonic your creations will get certain abilities that make them far deadlier than their normal counterparts.

Also you will be able to add other animals and plants by sending out scouts to collect them and killing them in your dungeon.

"Ok, I can accept your reasoning. I choose Demonic Humanoids and Animal species."

Ok, choose two of these four animal species.   Wolf Hare Fox Deer

  "I choose wolves and foxes."

That was fast. May I ask why those two in particular.

"Wolves can herd any animals I need to the dungeon. While foxes are extremely stealthy making them excellent scouts and are omnivorous meaning they can collect both smaller mammals and herbs that I'll need. They are also very pack oriented which means as long as the humanoid species establish themselves as stronger than them they'll be able to be tamed."

Ok, you should start building more rooms so you have room for your creations to move around and live in.

For the next week Alex spent all his mana making 5 more rooms and creating 5 young humanoids (2 male, 3 female), 5 wolves (same ratio), and 3 foxes (same ratio). All six rooms are about 125 cubic feet each. During this time Alex opened a small entrance to the surface about 3 ft wide and 4 ft tall.
