Author note: Thanks for reading up to chapter 8. I'm not really sure what to say other than I am amazed this piece of work was well received. I would like to thank you all again. I know in pretty much every author note I end up thanking you but that's because I really appreciate you guys. I pretty much feed off of your comments. Each and every one of them makes me ecstatic because it reinforces the idea that people are actually reading this for fun. Now, here is the first great dungeon of the series. Also, these next couple chapters will most likely be Drac thinking to himself or description purely because there will be most likely no one to talk to.

Great, I was not only forced to come to a place where I will surely die but also had to go through that nightmare I haven't had in a while.
I walked over towards the entrance to the cave. Crap, my body aches quite a bit. I inspected the metal gate that was obstructing my path. Looks like they weren't stupid enough to leave it unlocked. In fact, it had multiple locks and thick chains covering it. Even if I tried I doubt I had enough strength or technique to cut through them with my scimitar. Looks like the only way to get out is to get this dungeon over with.
I walked towards the ruins that were the entrance to the labyrinth. There was one large entrance with stairs going down. Lining it was some sort of ornate arch which I could only guess was covered by an ancient language. Surprisingly though, carved onto a large stone next to the entrance was a map which had an arrow on it saying 'You are here'.
Unfortunately, the map was extremely large. By extremely large I mean extremely. The thing was at least 5 x 5 metres and the paths were only a couple centimetres thick. If I don't memorize this it could take months, even years to find my way out of the labyrinth. I would probably starve to death before I get get anywhere close to the exit. Then again, there could be monsters that I could probably eat.
Then I realised, there wasn't an exit marked on the map. Another great thing. Yay.
Underneath the map there was writing.
"Hunt those who would hunt you. Kill those who try to kill you. Take everything they own and the path shall become clear." (Drac)
Okay, I could probably take it as one of two ways. In a literal meaning: Kill monsters in the labyrinth. Find maps on them. Or another way: Because it says to take everything they own, maybe they have something like a nest or lair that could be an exit. Either way I am probably going to have to face very strong enemies because previous heroes have died in here.
I doubt I will gain anything from waiting here. Time to set out.
"Summon Familiar!" (Drac)
Greeny, which I had previously left in the inn appeared before me in a flash of light, then bounced onto my shoulder. I then approached the stairs and walked down them.
I had gotten used to Greeny staying on my shoulder now. Of course he seemed to occasionally leave slime on it but it didn't exactly affect me in any way. I could also grab it and use it as a projectile if I really want to, throw it on the floor to make myself or enemies slide.
It was fairly strange. There were no obvious light sources around me but as I walked down into the labyrinth, it did not grow dark. Maybe the walls were made of some sort of luminescent material.
It didn't take long before I reached the bottom of the stairs. There was a crossroad immediately. I could go forward, left or right. Each seemed to lead to clearly different locations, maybe they wouldn't even meet up with each other.
On the floor, there were the words 'Choose your path wisely. Each way presents a different challenge which you will have to face. In each area will be a guardian that you will have to defeat'. Well at least that's good. No matter which way I choose, I will be equally fucked, having to defeat a strong guardian.
I decided to go left. Doesn't really matter which path I take first.
As I continued to walk down the path, the walls changed colour. From regular grey stone, they turned into a green. Looks like what I have to kill has something to do with nature.
I continued to walk but could not help to compare it to a labyrinth I owned in my old world. I had spread rumours that a great weapon that could defeat me lied at the end of it. Of course I could get killed by anything but the new generation of heroes didn't know that. So, they would enter the maze, only to get killed again and again and again. I was left in peace after there were no heroes left.
Anyway, there was only one path for a while. It twisted and turned but it was still one path. Eventually, I hit a crossroad. I could carry on walking or turn right. I headed right.
I continued to find crossroads and quickly found myself lost. That's what I get for half-assing memorizing that map. I thought I had walked for an hour or two but annoyingly, I found myself at the start. I could tell because the stone turned grey again and I ended up at the crossroad with the stairs.

I angrily turned around and started running back. I wasted hours and it all came to nothing. I didn't even find the guardi....
I had found myself somehow at a different place. Must be a magical labyrinth. It came out to a slight opening. There were eggs everywhere and in the middle there was a women. No, a snake. No, a gorgon. Fuck me.
"Hisssss!" (gorgon)
I immediately turned tail and started running, only to be chased by it. I turned at a crossroad and chucked slime on the floor. The gorgon could not turn and only slid away before I heard a crash and an angrier hiss.
Looks like I pissed of a mythical creature.
