LUCIFER
A former Royal returns to her palace only to attack one of the runaways with her magic.
That is what she thought everyone else was thinking as they watched her, shocked.
I am fine, it’s just a scar. Ukko tried to comfort her, showing his wounded nose that was trying to heal.
You were just there, staring at nothing and then screaming. He explained and showed her the book she still held.
I was there but also wasn’t. Lucifer remembered Ma’at’s words.
I am losing my mind. She pulled her curly hair down, playing with it nervously as she sat down, her back leaning against a tree and her other hand biting her thumbnail.
She told them everything. Everything that she saw, heard.
‘’He was an assistant.'' She threw her eyes to the ground. He wanted to keep me safe.
As she attempted to remember and not throw up, she said, ''the scientist wanted chemicals, phosphorus.". ‘’More work from the inventors and..’’ He knew I was there. Like he expected me.
''We use phosphorus for explosives'' Hephaestus informed, pressing their fingers to their lips.
Her mind returned to the woman. And what did she show Lucifer?
‘’Whatever he, my aunt, anyone wants will end up with death.’’
She admitted and took a deep breath.
‘’There was something like... a worm moving in the clouds,'' she said, studying how to say each word correctly.
‘’And..’’
‘’Death and despair?’’ The girl interrupted.
Lucifer grew tired of fighting with her so she just shook her head.
She wanted to talk about the ghost, but it only made it more difficult for her.
‘’You don’t believe me’’She realized and laughed. They don’t trust me. And they won’t trust someone whose mind is lost.
‘’Of course, we do’’Ukko moved his hands to her shoulders.
Mordred shrugged and turned to the girl whose eyes narrowed towards Lucifer.
‘’She tells the absolute truth,'' she said. ‘’But that doesn’t mean anything.''
‘’What?’’ Lucifer’s eyes twitched.
‘’Truth is a complicated thing,'' she explained. ‘’You saw something and you believe that it is true but how do you know it is actually true and not your mind playing games?’’
'’I am not insane’’ Lucifer argued and stood up.
‘’I never said you were '' the girl corrected her.
‘’I also saw a ghost,'' Lucifer continued, muttering her words.
''I will take it back’’ The girl frowned with a slight grin, moving her palm in front of Lucifer.
Lucifer rolled her eyes and tried to explain better.
‘’She had dark hair, her hands were damaged, her eyes were swollen, and her'...'' Her mouth, her tongue, everything was lost.
In a deep breath, Lucifer exhaled heavily. "Then her dress," he said.
‘’Pale?’’ Hephaestus interrupted, surprised. ‘’Like an actual, actual ghost’
‘’Yes,’’ Lucifer gasped and tried to catch her breath again and turned to Mordred. His gaze fell on Lucifer and Hephaestus. Lucifer felt like all the strength had left her body. She looked at Mordred, her eyes pleading for help. Mordred stepped forward and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
They first explained that they had seen the girl too. And Mordred did too once before.
This was a piece of information that made Lucifer feel less insane.
The girl threw her hands once more.
Ukko shook his head and faced Lucifer.
‘’So a ghost woman showed you what that scientist was planning…’’He said again what all three of them explained. ‘’All three of you visited you and showed Lucifer what he wanted to happen’’
‘’Or what will happen?'' Lucifer corrected him.
‘’Lancelot said that we are not ready for what is coming’’ Mordred admitted to everyone.
‘’And Whatever comes, it comes in less than a week’’Hephaestus added.
There was silence again. Lucifer looked over at the girl whose gaze still stayed on the ground, looking bored.
‘’You said he experiments on warlocks'' Mordred broke the silence, turning to Hephaestus.
‘’Do you think he wants to’’
‘’He will want anyone who gets in his way dead or chained’’ Hephaestus explained, stretching their wrists. ‘’Right now, Babel seems to be against him. Against Akhet.’’
‘’So we are heading either to the pyre or cages’’ Ukko finally spoke up as he stretched his arms, interrupting Hephaestus.
‘’Same thing, as always'’ Lucifer could recognize how tired he was.
Death everywhere, corpses to burn. I don’t want this.
Ukko as panicked as he looked, he turned on the rest. ''We need to go help them.''
''What we need''Mordred almost spat at him.''We need to find a way back to Babel. Maybe they will help us.''
''They did help us get out?'' Lucifer pointed out. ''Why should we go back once more?''
''Nephthys ...does not help''He shrugged. How much spite does he have for people? It almost looked childish.''She probably did it for her own pleasure.''
''What about your boss?''Ukko smirked.''Surely he will listen to us. Oh wait''
''If it was not for someone making a mess''Mordred turned to Hephaestus and Lucifer imagined him glaring behind the clay.
Hephaestus pouted.''Oh now it is my fault.'' They argued.
Such a man child.
Lucifer wanted to speak, to say the truth. That they would not listen. It was clear they would not. Not if Lancelot was dead. Not without proof.
A clap of applause echoed on the valley‘’Alright,’’ The Girl began walking to Hephaestus’ side. ‘’Maybe they can tell more to us then’’ She jerked her head to their side.
Hephaestus faced her confused. So did Lucifer.
‘’I told you everything I…’’
‘’Not talking to you’’She pointed her sharp nails at their bag.
The mechanic’s cheeks turned red. Mordred faced them with a confusing sound escaping his lips.
‘’How did you…’’
‘’It smells awful’’ She complained.
Lucifer faced Ukko who was also confused.
Hephaestus gave up and turned to Mordred. ‘’Don’t get mad.’’
‘’Try me.’’ He replied as Hephaestus was now taking out of their bag a jar filled with dark dirt.
They frowned. Mordred sighed tired. ‘’I promise I won’t get mad.’’
Lucifer held a laugh and looked at the regular jar of dirt. But inside the dirt was something else. Something that was trying to touch the glass. As it finally found the light, Lucifer noticed that it was an eye. A hazel brown eye.
‘’Is that’’ Mordred gasped.
LET ME OUT. A voice screamed from the jar.
Lucifer stared at it stunned, thinking if she had actually gone insane. But no, at that moment, Mordred took out his mask, staring at Hephaestus almost mad.
‘’Leviathan?’’ He asked.
YES, YES, NOW LET ME-
‘’Why is Leviathan inside a jar?’’He asked Hephaestus, almost breathless.
That was his first question. Not that they were just ashes and just an eye and Alive but why they were inside a jar.
Lucifer began to panic once more.
‘’I saw their ashes moving and I had to think fast and…’’ Hephaestus tapped their fingers to the glass. ‘’I had to make sure they were not,’’
Mordred inhaled deeply. ‘’You put one of the most powerful warlocks of Babel…’’A long pause. ‘’Inside a jar.’’
Hephaestus shook their head.
In the end, Mordred lifted his hands, giving up. ‘’I just, I need a break’’
YOU CAN TAKE IT AFTER YOU FREE ME.
‘’How is it possible?’’ Ukko gasped.
There was a snort coming from the jar.
Lucifer shrugged and moved to Hephaestus and stood next to the Girl.
She let out a half shrug and held her panic as much as she could when the eye turned to her.
‘’Did the scientist do that?’’ She whispered to herself. Can someone actually do that?
Even in a statement of death, the soul seemed to still be touched by the remains of the body.
All five now sat in a circle with the jar being at the center of it.
Mordred tried to ask questions to Leviathan but instead, they were screaming to get free.
Ukko did too, even Lucifer tried to speak. But Hephaestus did not. They were standing even further from the jar than the rest of them.
There is someone alive. Inside a jar. Lucifer repeated it countless times till it felt almost real.
‘’Are you hungry?’’ The girl asked a question. Leviathan did not respond. ‘’Or thirsty. If you want to go to the bathroom…’’She frowned curiously.
SHUT UP.
She grinned. ‘’Afraid to answer the important questions?’’
‘’If we open it do you think they would heal?’’ Lucifer faced Mordred and then Hephaestus.
They both nodded in sync.
‘’And they cannot use their incantation…correct?’’ She asked once more. ‘’So they are trapped.
Leviathan’s eyes made a circling move that was supposed to be an eye roll.
‘’They will probably never talk’’Ukko complained.
‘’Then let’s bring them with us.’’The Mordred suggested. ‘’They might talk later.
‘’With us?’’ Hephaestus asked furiously. It seemed that they had regretted that they took the jar with them. ‘’And where are we going?’’
Another laugh came out from the jar.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON. YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
That was the ugly truth that everyone knew and tried to hide it. But one more truth that Lucifer was covering was a question. Do I want to be ready for what was going on?
Everyone looked at the ground and Ukko sighed, moving closer to Lucifer.
‘’So’’He pressed his lips to a thin line before he spoke, eyes to Hephaestus.
‘’What’s the plan?’’
Their eyes opened wide. Lucifer’s too as she faced him, shocked. He still had a scar under his chin. Small but exposed.
I did that.
‘’Keep the secrets all you like, but we all want something right?’’
Hephaestus and Mordred shook their heads in sync.
‘’But if we took something of value for people to kill, to die for’’ He took a heavy breath, eyes moving back from Hephaestus, to the old rotten grave of the demons.
‘’I will hate to keep hiding in a forest for someone to hunt us again’’
He stood on his feet and looked at Lucifer, waiting for her to say something.
I want to run. I want to hide far till none can see me, till I can’t hear anyone dying.
‘’I don’t want anyone else to die for this.'' She stood up, looking at the rest with a glowing smile.
‘’I know that you can hardly trust me.'' She blinked and looked at Mordred’s hands. A few inches away from his pistol. She shook her head and smiled. Hiding the fear that he might shoot her.
‘’Hestia would want to keep whatever Babel is fighting for alive’’ She said but now, she barely believed it.
GET OUT
DO NOT TRUST ANYONE, AND DO NOT STAY IN ONE PLACE.
Hestia’s warning came to mind. She was not sure if she could believe it. Why should she send them to Babel in the first place?
‘’We can fight’’Ukko kept his brave speech. ‘’We have what they want, we took them, them’’His voice almost shook but he took a deep breath and kept talking. ‘’But we can’t hide. I won’t hide again.’’
‘’You want to stop this?’’ The girl spoke distantly. ‘’You want to stop the Ruler and her lunatic?’’
‘’Don’t you?’’ Ukko asked her as if he knew something, that only he could use against the girl, to reach her. And surprisingly he did as she looked down, skeptic. The tension in the air was almost tangible as she silently wondered what Ukko could know.
Always the right thing to say. Lucifer bit her upper lip.
‘’If the thing that we took’’He pointed his finger at Hephaestus. ‘’Can actually make a change’’He blinked twice. ‘’I suppose we can make one ourselves''
The first one to react after a few seconds of silence was Hephaestus, moving both of their hands up, losing their balance for a moment, and keeping standing up.
Ukko laughed at their reaction and moved his eyes to Lucifer.
She looked down at his green shade sleeve and tugged her fingers to it, tight.
Looking up, she placed a nervous smile, hoping he wouldn’t see her thoughts of regret.
Hephaestus turned to Mordred with a grin.
He groaned and moved to their side.
‘’The speech was terrible,'' he admitted.
Ukko gasped dramatically. ''Well, at least you didn't have to give it,'' Ukko said with a wink.
‘’But I prefer fighting to return to Babel empty handed.'' He made a long pause.
Hephaestus coughed and muttered a few other words. ‘’What about innocent lives?’’
‘’I don’t believe what she saw’’He tried to whisper but it was not enough for Lucifer to not hear.
Her eyes moved back to the girl's side. Lucifer was surprised by the girl’s silence and sudden hesitation.
Lucifer wanted her to walk away. But she knew that if someone found her alone and sent her to Ma'at it would be too late.
‘’ Ni my amplem.’’She groaned with her hands in fists and her head looking at the ground. Not my fight.
She moved from her side with a wide, confident grin and looked at all of them.
‘’To death and Despair it is’’She laughed.
‘’I thought that you wanted to run’’ Lucifer frowned.
‘’I want many things'' The girl turned her gaze above her shoulder, looking directly at Lucifer.
‘’Dresses, food, love, and also things’’Her hands clenched over her gray coat to fix it around her body. ‘’That they stole from me.’’
Right. Lucifer thought, remembering the hairpin that Ma’at had now. That was the one thing she wanted. That was the one thing that was making her stay. Greed, justice…Lucifer could name a lot of words.
She could also think that it would be easier for her to betray all four of them to Ma’at for it.
‘’So we all agree,’’ Mordred said.
‘’None walks away, none ‘’He took a deep breath moving his hands around his torso.
‘’From now on we will do whatever needs to be stopped’’Hephaestus added, stretching their wrists tight.
‘’And no lies, '’ Lucifer demanded. Everyone now looked at her, almost frightened. Especially Hephaestus. Sooner or later one of you will. The scientist's words stuck inside her head.
She played with her ring finger and kept talking. ‘’I prefer that I can trust people that don’t keep secrets.'' She explained clearly.
A small silence before everyone shook their heads.
‘’No lies and no secrets’’Hephaestus assured with a smile. Mordred held his gaze down before he agreed with a humming tone.
Lucifer fixed her posture and faced Ukko. He smiled as he lifted his arm, yelling ‘’Let us make a change’’
LET ME OUT.
Aztlan was their first destination. If he needs something from the inventors, then it is better to start from there.
That also meant not resting until the sun was completely down. And when it was time for rest it was not enough for anyone to relax.
Lucifer took one more look at Lancelot's bags and hers. Food, clothing, and books but almost no weapons. Hiding, not fighting.
But there were also peculiar crystals. In the shape and size of an acorn, there were two moonlight colored stones, eight pitch black like the night, four red, and one blue. The last one was a crystal she had seen before. back when Hestia was sending a letter far like an arrow.
‘’When the spirit blood became air’’ Mordred explained as he touched the azure stone. ‘’It did not evaporate from everywhere. It stayed in some of the gemstones, making them have a sort of effect. When centuries passed, they took this form.’’
‘’So they are incantations?’’ Lucifer arched her brow, curious.
‘’You can call it that. The dark ones can send a person to every place the holder of it demands’’ He tried to hide his amusement every time he was talking about knowledge he was holding in his mind which made Lucifer smile. ‘’Blue ones are more like messengers, they make the objects move, red are amplifiers and white ones can change someone’s form.’’
‘’So we can go faster with the dark ones?’’ Ukko asked amused.’’Why don’t we then?’’
‘’They are only for one use each’’Mordred explained. ‘’And for extremely serious purposes’’
‘’Suddenly saving people isn’t serious?’’Hephaestus jumped into the conversation.
Lucifer could see a vein being popped by his neck.
‘’First’’He explained calmly. ‘’I have to know exactly where I am heading. Place, smell, everything. And second, three days by walk means I have to spend too much energy.’’
Hephaestus rolled their eyes. ‘’Yes, but’’
‘’We will get a shortcut answer and will be on Aztlan in less than three days’’ Mordred grunted.
‘’If we used the stone we would be in less than three seconds’’The girl added.
‘’Less than two days’’He packed the stones back into the bags and kept walking in a rush.
The night came and Lucifer made an orb of light to keep them in peace for a moment. It was her hour to watch the jar, something that they had all agreed on. And surprisingly, they began talking to her.
How does it feel to go back to where you started?
Lucifer tried to ignore them. No wonder Hephaestus looked angry.
‘’You know about me?’’ She asked.
My boss informed me about all of you.
‘’Ma’at?’’
There was a hiss. Do not say his name so freely.
Lucifer grinned. ‘’So, how do you talk to him? You transport yourself from Babel toAkhet?’’
No response.
‘’No fair’’ She whined. ‘’If you know things about me, then I have to know about you too.’’
Apologies to your Highness but it won’t happen.
I know that envy is your weakness. Lucifer remembered Ma'at's words.
‘’What is your name again? Levirak? Levi?’’She hummed with skepticism.
Leviathan.
‘’Can I call you Levi?’’
Leviathan…
‘’I will call you Levi’’ Lucifer forced a smile.
Are you not afraid? Of what is awaiting you there?
She replied with a tired sigh and let a piece of the blanket cover the jar. As Leviathan now complained, her eyes looked at Ukko who was slowly approaching.
He sat down next to her and smiled.
She apologized many times to him for the scar. Of how she acted. She looked back at the light and with a wave of her finger, she made it go away.
‘’You are getting good at it’’ Ukko complimented her.
‘’Good to hurt people,'' she muttered.
‘’Well’’Ukko stretched his neck and let out his tired groan.''You understand that you will have to hurt someone’’
Maybe I can make someone pass out or blind him for a while. Lucifer planned. Her gaze was now held upon the girl’s presence. She was sitting the furthest away, with her back against a tree, hugging her knees.
‘’Do you trust her?’’ Lucifer asked with her finger slowly getting wrapped around the grip of her blade.
Ukko let out a tired sigh.
‘’Do you trust me?’’ Ukko replied with a question and a cock brow.
Lucifer agreed with a small shake. He then found her hand and held it tight.
‘’Everything will be fine’’
‘’It’s not though’’ Her voice broke, looking down at her feet. ‘’And I don’t think it will be’’
Ukko’s hand moved higher, embracing Lucifer by her back, pulling her closer to his body.
‘’If you trust me then, trust my instinct too'' He was determined.
Lucifer laughed and turned to the jar.
‘’Did they talk?’’
‘’A little,’’She admitted. ‘’I will give it to Mordred later.’’
After that, Lucifer rested her head in the opposite direction of Ukko, and let her fingers play around the fallen brown leaves.
She couldn’t even look him in the eyes. She couldn’t see his face, the scar she had made.
Dievas.
A voice whispered inside her head, the name she heard in the ‘dream’.
Lucifer moved her head back and saw Hephaestus sleeping a few feet away from Mordred who was reading from one of Lancelot’s books. She had given them the book she stole from the scientist but it was of no use. It was filled with just numbers. From the first page to the last one it was filled with numbers from the first to the last one and right next to them, there was the word. Failed.
A few minutes passed and Ukko stood up‘’I am going to scout’’He announced. Lucifer held his hand tight and looked up at him. Finally, we shared contact once more. His face was wounded. His eyes were tired, dark, and heavy. His face was tired. He was drained. And Lucifer knew it was her fault. Ukko mustered a weak smile. He pulled back, his expression softening as he looked into her eyes. Then, he turned and began walking away, leaving Lucifer alone.
And yet he kept smiling.
‘’I will come back, don't worry’’He whispered. ‘’I am your guard remember?’’
There was a sort of moment of hesitance before Lucifer let go of his hand. She smiled and let her eyes watch him leave. He waved at Mordred and they replied with a half nod. And they returned to the book once more.
When she was close to him, she offered the blanket with Leviathan.
‘’Here.’’ She whispered, making them wake up from the reading.
Mordred nodded and took the jar slowly. Lucifer looked at Hephaestus who was now moving all around.
‘’Did they know Leviathan from before?’’ She asked Mordred.
Mordred shrugged. ‘’So it seems.’’
‘’Yes but how…’’Her eyes opened wide and then she looked away once more. ‘’How do you feel about it?’’
Mordred turned to her confused.
‘’They work with you and they keep so many secrets, you seem to care about them and…’’ Her words slipped out of nowhere. For a second she had felt that her words, her question, were not about them.
Was I a job to her?
‘’I care about Hermes’’ Mordred said. ‘’I care that because of their secrets, he was disappointed in me’’
Lucifer frowned.
‘’But how do you feel?’’ She asked once more.
Mordred’s lips parted, thinking of nothing. They had no answer for it. Just an excuse.
‘’It’s getting late. You should rest’’
And so she did try to rest.
Lucifer kept wondering why she took it, why the woman sent her to it. But no answer came to his reminder.
There was a moment of silence before the girl broke it with a sarcastic comment. ‘’He seems to care''
Lucifer held her breath and returned her eyes to her. Her fingers tighten
‘’It’s nice that you know what care looks like'' Lucifer arched her brow cockingly.
‘’Yes’’The girl rolled her eyes and back at Lucifer. She licked her lips and took a deep breath.,
‘’Listen, I’’
Lucifer imagined her trying to apologize. Apologize that she kidnapped her, that she chained her, and let the priest open her skin. Apologize that she did nothing.
‘’I am not forgiving you'' Lucifer said with a small hiss.
The girl blinked and surprisingly she scoffed, looking down. Lucier flinched
‘’I wasn’t going to apologize to the princess’’The girl informed. ‘’I am not skilled at them’’
Lucifer moved her shoulders back and shook her head.
‘’I want us to start over’’She said after.
Start over?
‘’I am still here for the pin, that is all’’The girl reminded Lucifer. ‘’When I have it you will never see me again’’
‘’And why should we start over?’’ Lucifer arched her brow.
‘’I prefer people to trust me and not try to stop me from what I will do next ‘’
Lucifer looked down and flexed her fingers.
‘’Will you kill people?'' Lucifer asked her. She stared at her hands as if considering their potential for destruction.
She agreed with silence. She did not even look ashamed of it.
‘’If you haven’t realized yet, this is how it is going to be.'' The girl explained. ‘’Everyone is hurting, killing? What difference does it make that I do it?’’
‘’Because you have no shame, Girl that’s why’’ Lucifer hissed with a whisper.
The girl’s eyes opened wide. A smile curved slowly to her face, showing more of her scar.
Lucifer shook her head again and fixed her posture.
‘’I don’t need to talk with you. I just want to see you walk far away with your pin’’Lucifer finally admitted with a rough burn around her throat.
‘’No need for a fresh start’’
‘’Afraid of me to drink your blood?’’ She showed her sharp teeth.
Lucifer swallowed her dry.
‘’I heard that Royals bleed green’’The girl arched her brow. ‘’You bleed red because you are a warlock or is it because you are..’’
‘’Why do you have nymph incantations?’’ Lucifer finally asked her. Something that was killing her.
‘’What are you talking about?’’ The girl flinched her eyes and took a step back.
‘’You have the same eyes as the Hecca, which means that you were supposed to manipulate blood, not water’’
She flexed her fingers and smiled. ‘’Maybe you are not a real demon either-’’
‘’You were right’’ The girl sniffed and looked up proudly. ‘’All it matters for me is the pin'' Her fingers found her wounded scar to scratch upon. ''No need to tell stories about each other''
‘’No need for a fresh start’’She closed her eyes.
Lucifer agreed again with a nod and looked back, checking if Mordred was still reading.
Instead of keeping his head on the pages, he had fallen asleep, close to Hephaestus’s, shoulders stiff, hands close to pistols, getting prepared for anything that might come.
She looked back noticing how far was from the girl. Either she looked peaceful when she was asleep.
Someone could hunt her in her dreams. Maybe she could have even the same nightmares as Lucifer had. Maybe the woman haunted her dreams too and she was ashamed to speak of it.
Lucifer leaned back on the tree and slightly jumped as something poked at her left hip.
Looking at her side, her eyes zoomed in when she found a shining object, reflecting the light she had created.
When she grabbed it, a cold metal found the tips of her fingers, sending a chill under her spine.
One more look at it and she held her breath, realizing that the metal was silver. A flower made of gems attached to a pin of silver. The girl’s pin.
A smile moved on Lucifer’s face and she looked up at the girl.
‘’Mara’’She whispered, waking her up easily.
‘’What is it?'' She asked, tired.
And then, for a second that flees replied like a lifetime. Everything stopped.
Lucifer gave the pin to her. The girl replied with a sweet smile, thanking her that she gave it to her. Her hand was soft on Lucifer’s cheek. Her words were soft against Lucifer's face as she kept thanking her again and again.
Then, her skin against her became cold. Tender like stone. The air around her faded, becoming even harder to breathe around. Lucifer stepped away, the moment broken. She knew the girl was not real, just a figment of her imagination. She was alone again. Alone and frozen to death.
Do not worry, Princess. Her other hand cupped her chin slowly as the cold kept growing on her skin.
I will leave your friend for last.
‘’Princess?’’ The girl whined, half asleep.
The time has returned to normal. Lucifer hadn’t given the pin yet. So she hid it. Sooner or later one of you will.
The girl could have killed her, could join the scientist, killed everyone else, or run and told someone else where they were heading. She did not know the girl. She did not know anything. Ukko’s instinct was not enough.
Lucifer hid the hairpin behind her back instantly and smiled. She attempted to smile. She was not like Ukko. She could not say the right things, but she could pretend. Pretend to keep someone close to her. Lucifer had no idea what she was doing. But she knew that she needed to find a way to keep Ukko and herself alive. She knew that she could never tell the girl the truth, so she would have to pretend.
No more lies. Lucifer remembered her own words.
''Maybe we should get started over'' She suggested to her, offering her hand to her slowly.
''What's the change of heart?'' The girl asked.
You might kill me. Might everyone kill me and you are one of them.
''You called it a game of trust correct?'' Lucifer pressed her lips together.
''No more insults to one another,''
''No more killing?'' The girl pouted, confused.
''You can kill just'' Lucifer looked down, taking one more deep breath. ''When life-threatening moments''
''Have you seen where are we?'' The girl arched her brow.
''You know what?''Lucifer grunted. ''It was a terrible idea I...''Her cheeks turned red.
''No, no, no'' The girl stopped her and laughed. It was not a mock or a laugh guiding an insult. It was sweet, genuine, and almost. Almost as beautiful as a songbird's chirping.
''I would really'' She lowered her gaze before her eyes held at Lucifer's face. ''Really loved that'' Her voice warmed up and pushed her body closer to Lucifer.
Lucifer's cheeks became even brighter red when the girl took the offer by shaking her hand. Rough and cold, unlike Lucifer's skin. She could kill me. I have to keep her close. Not far.
''Let the game begin then.''
