LUCIFER
‘’No’’ Lucifer shouted. ‘’Absolutely not’’ She stormed her words out with everyone looking at her once more. All eyes were on her as she was the last one to disagree.
She held her breath with her eyes looking directly at Hephaestus sharply. She had no time to concentrate, to be what she had to be. Now, she was furious. She was exhausted by the secrecy of everything.
‘’If you want Ukko, take him to tell you everything. I am done’’ She let out a heavy breath. As she walked back to her closed room, Ukko snatched her wrist stopping her from walking to the dark room.
‘’What is going on?’’ His gaze was friendly as always, worried with panic that might something have happened to her.
‘’It doesn’t evolve me’’She finally answered in a cold tone. ‘’ I don’t want to save the world dammit’ She said with cruelty. ‘’I cannot do it.’’ She said.
‘’But Hest..’’ Ukko tried to talk again but Lucifer had enough.
She lied to us. She kept more secrets and riddles for her not to do a proper job.
‘’She wanted us to live.'' She almost hissed and pushed him away. Then, her eyes fell right on Hephaestus. ‘’If you stop taking my needs seriously, maybe I will reconsider’’ Her tone became formal as she let out her sharp words before she closed the door and stayed inside the room.
She shut her ears for the rest of the day, crawling inside the dark room. She did not want to listen to the plan, she did not want to listen to the voices of scheming, and she wanted to do nothing with the whole change.
She tried to use her incantation twice. Once she failed. The second time she caused chaos.
The girl from Elysium was no fighter, was and not brave enough to fight to stand everything. She had no reason to fight.
The door knocked but none walked inside. Lucifer laid down the mattress and lit out a small light.
‘’It’s..Hephaestus’’ They let out a small stutter.
Lucifer rolled her eyes and ignored them.
‘’Ukko told me about …you know your friend,Hestia’’ They explained.
Of course, he did. Lucifer started pulling her long locks with all of her strength. Sometimes. she wondered why he was her friend if half the time he wasn’t at her side.
‘’I did not know her'' they admitted. ‘’I know that she was… just like me? No, probably not.’’
Someone killed her. Lucifer reminded herself. They know the scientists. What if?
‘’Who was the one you killed?’’ Lucifer asked formally.
She could listen to them laughing nervously.
‘’He was someone that I felt I could let one of my sides be comfortable with.’’
‘’One of your sides?’’ Lucifer turned over with her eye on the door.
‘’I wanted to be an inventor since I was a kid’’ They admitted to her. ‘’My parents did not understand that. But someone did.'' They did not hide how painful they were feeling from those words. Of regrets, or the pressure of everything.
‘’Then, I found out that I could die on the stakes.'' They laughed. ‘’The new friend I found understood that side better than the second one.’’
Lucifer shook her head. Even if she was open to both Ukko and Hestia about both of her sides of how both of them understood how she felt, she knew that Hephaestus had too much to bear.
‘’I didn't mean to hide it,'' They sighed. ‘’But it is more complicated than I wished it was.’’
‘’Hestia hid it too’’ Lucifer assured. ‘’Must be something in common that Phoenix holders have in common'' She tried to laugh.
Hephaestus chuckled.
Lucifer narrowed her eyes and took a deep breath.
‘’She sounds more like my friend though,'' they told her calmly. ‘’He wanted me to live peacefully.''
‘’And why don’t you keep his words?'' Lucifer asked. ‘’Why didn’t you choose his side, or Mordred’s side to stay put?’’
This time, the gunsmith had no answers for her.
She even heard them walk away.
She was not like them. She could not give justice to someone, she could not be strong enough for this.
Lucifer relaxed and she could now hear Hephaestus mumbling about some of their creations. Spirits, their names were hideous. But she could listen to their enjoyable tone when someone was paying attention to their passion.
Hestia was like that too. Talking about the places she wished to visit, the stores, and the food she wanted to learn how to cook. And Lucifer did not stop listening to her and staring at her as if her entire world was just her.
They are not Hestia. She reminded herself, wrapping her arms around her body, feeling a harsh pain growing.
She closed her eyes once more and let her mind wander.
But this time, she was back in her old room.
Great. PERFECT. She complained and turned towards the morro and let out a shaking breath. Her hair was longer than her body. She was wearing a silver nightgown with the moonlight bathing her young childish body.
This is a dream. Lucifer thought and kept walking to the side of the door.
As she kept walking barefoot through the dark hallways she could see how almost every guard did not pay in mind. Like they could not see her entering her aunt’s quarters.
There was sudden pressure down her throat again. The door was dark and slightly open, letting out the bright light from the fire.
Your condition becomes worse. Someone rasped in disgust. Someone else coughed dry and kept their posture low.
Time is running out. The other voice growled. For me and you.
Lucifer's big eyes zoomed in, as they watched a dark figure shading red on the carpet. His head moved up as his gaze met hers.
She squealed back, frightened with a tight grip touching her shoulder. Looking back she could see her mother and father standing panicked and frightened.
‘’What are you doing here?’’ Her mother hissed. ‘’You were not supposed to be here’’
‘’I could not sleep,'' she replied easily.
‘’Doesn’t matter we …’’ She took one deep breath and let out with her eyes letting tears shed. ‘’You have to move far from here.’’
But it was far late with the door now opening completely. Her aunt was wearing her green nightgown, her hair down and free and her eyes analyzing everything around her.
‘’What is the meaning of this?’’ She asked, impressed with her finger being clenched.
Lucifer held her breath and faced her parents whose eyes darted just from her aunt’s presence.
‘’You’’Her aunt sounded almost ruthless to her young niece. '' Get back to bed’’. There was no kindness from her. Just a bright fire of hatred.
She did not seem happy to look all three of them out from her quarters. ‘’I would like to have a word with your parents'' Her eyes moved up to them.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.
Both of them nodded and her dad embraced Lucifer tight and let out a small whimper.
‘’You have to run’’He whispered in her ear.
Lucifer watched them enter the now empty room and her aunt smiling gently to her side. But she did not walk away. She did not run. She moved closer to the door and watched everything in a slight open line.
Her aunt was close to the fireplace, next to a table with a wooden box.
‘’What do you want this time? More money?’’ She asked. ‘’You should be proud of your daughter.’’ She smiled. ‘’She might become a better Royal than…’’
‘’We know everything’’Lucifer’s mother broke Boudica’s monologue. ‘’What you are doing underground, your plan for her, everything’’
Boudica’s eyes softened with the sharp words and she looked to the side of the box.
‘’You know everything'' She let a murmur out.’’I see…’’
‘’We are leaving tonight.'' Her father took a step in front and took his wife's hand. ‘’You will never see her again.’’
Her aunt kept shaking her head with her hand now moving to the box. As she opened it, Lucifer’s eyes were painted red from the sound of two bullets.
‘’I am sorry’’ Boucida whispered as she stood up in front of Lucifer’s parents' dead bodies. Hands remained touched, together, even in death.
Lucifer moved back with her fingers touching the door and opening it. Boudica's eyes moved up, dialing in the presence of her niece.
The little girl kept looking down, her breath turning thinner with each second of the clock ticking again and again.
‘’Lucifer I am so sorry’’ Boudica whispered as she moved to her side. ‘’It was an accident.’’
‘’You..’’ Lucifer whimpered and looked up at her dark green eyes. ‘’Killed.’’
‘’No, ‘’Boudica laughed gently. ‘’Warlocks were attacking.'' She kept laughing forcefully, restraining her fear. Fear of the little girl screaming, calling everyone, every guard in her room.
‘’You killed them. You.'' Lucifer took a step back as her body started growing.
‘’You lied to me.'' She frowned and looked once more down to the carpet.
‘’No, I would never,’’ Her aunt clenched her thin arm tight. Looking at her eyes now, Lucifer could see how lost she was. How her pride, and her status she had driven her to. ‘’Please believe it. ‘’
‘’Get away from me.’’ Lucifer tried to slap her but it was too late. She had woken up.
Her breath was quickly thin with her hair stuck to her collarbone as the beams of cold sweat were beaming down from her chin.
She killed them. Lucifer panicked and moved her head to the side of the closest mirror. She could see her long curls reflecting the mirror as the sudden sun reflected a reddish color at it.
She killed them. Lucifer bit her lips and threw her hand towards the mirror without imagining a sudden curve of light cutting the mirror in half, breaking it down into more pieces. The pieces scattered across the floor like stars in the night sky, and she could see her reflection in each one. She moved back and watched as her broken image slowly faded away.
She lied to me. Lucifer's eyes darted as she kept thinking about every lie, every gentle smile, every lesson she had taken from her, and yet she kept her red-stained hands from touching her. How many more she had kept her smile, how many more she would keep the secrets from her? How much longer would she be able to keep the truth hidden, she wondered.
Lucifer did not even realize she had now crawled to the floor, with a piece of mirror in her hands. Then in her hair.
‘’Oh shit’’ A voice broke from inside the room. Lucifer faced back at the sudden light to watch the girl staring at her down. She was down. With almost half of her hair chopped out poorly. Her eyes were red from tears, circles pitched black and her lips were all swollen.
Pathetic,
The girl pressed her lips into a thin line. She did not tease as she started searching each drawer for something till she found it. A pair of scissors.
‘’Please go’’Lucifer could not believe that she begged her to leave. How exhausted she was.
‘’You need help. ‘’ The girl said and moved to her side. Lucifer’s eyes drew back to her silver coat. She once more pushed her away, shouting meaningless screams.
The girl grunted once more and looked down. ‘’You look hideous. ‘’
‘’Get away from me’’Lucifer panicked again. But the girl had enough of it as she snatched Lucifer’s face, cupping it harshly. Her fierce gaze stung right at her lilac eyes.
‘’If you want to get out like a lunatic, ‘’She hissed with rage. ‘’I don’t care but don’t push me away for something I haven’t done’’
You lied. You stood there with him, you.
The girl’s eyes opened wide gasping after realizing how she replied to her and letting her hand free from Lucifer’s face. ‘’I know that you hate my guts but..'' She took a deep breath. ‘’I understand every reason for you too. But believe me, I know how to cut hair’’
Lucifer lowered her gaze down and did not talk or disagree. She could see from the broken glass how unevenly she cut them. The girl was not kind like Ukko. But she was not cruel. That was one truth she could believe in.
‘’Never mind’’She said breathlessly and moved away. ‘’I will call your friend’’
Wait. Lucifer thought, her hand finding Mara’s wrist. She stopped walking with a shocked breath as she looked down at the shaking girl of Elysium.
‘’A new start,'' Lucifer mumbled, face flustered.
Seconds passed, and the girl followed. ‘’A new start.’’
But first, the girl helped her stand back to the bed and open the window with the curtain still closed for the light to be visible.
I cut with light. I cut with light. Lucifer thought as she kept looking at the broken mirror. Then look at the girl’s silver coat. She let out a small breath as there was a pinch at her neck.
The girl cut a few of her curls.
‘’If you wanted a haircut you could ask me.'' She laughed harshly trying to make a conversation. ‘’It was a mess from the beginning and I have done pretty haircuts back to Diyu.’’
‘’I thought that you were a performer.’’Lucifer tried to turn her head back but the girl stopped her and moved it front gently.
Mara chuckled. ‘’That too. But cutting hair was something that I wanted to learn. But I might cut them unevenly. Or cut an ear.’’
Lucifer gasped and tried to move her head back but she stopped her once more.
‘’Don’t worry your hair is not a complete mess.’’She snorted.’’I once had to cut a girl’s hair so thick that looked like actual clouds.’’Another chip.’’I could find a pin inside her hair and she told me. ‘Oh I thought I lost it months ago’’
A snort came out from Lucifer’s lips and Mar gasped. ‘’You have a nice laugh, you should try it more often.’’
‘’She killed them'' Lucifer let out every one of her thoughts. ‘’My aunt..Boudica killed them...'' Her voice began to shake and the girl stopped cutting with the scissors.
‘’She lied to me all those years and..’’
‘’She made a fool of you.’’ The girl interrupted her.
Lucifer hugged her knees and let her arm rest on her cups.
‘’I know nothing about what your story is.’’ The girl said. ‘’But I know that you want to do something.''No, mortal, no mortal, no weak.
‘’I am not powerful, I was always nothing without her.’’ She explained. ‘’Shit,’’She cursed.’’Even royals could not win and I am…’’
‘’Do you know how most of the rich people die?’’
‘’Poison’’ Lucifer admitted. ‘’Backstabbing, BULLETS’’ but Lucifer’s mind escaped realizing that every Ruler, every head of noble houses had seldom died until an early age.
‘’Pests’’ The girl touched a few of her curls.
Lucifer’s eyes snapped.
‘’Simple diseases’’ She said after.’’When you are on top you can see people down below even thieves are your enemy and you can handle them. But no pests. You will be scared for your life if you can see it but you are so arrogant when a simple cough begins. And when blood falls.’’ Her thumb traced around Lucifer’s ear lobe. ‘’It would be too late for an antidote.’’
No pests.
‘’If a royal or any human warlock can’t break her then a pest will’’ Her long nails cupped her cheeks, pulling a few of her curls behind. ''Then the pests will.’’
‘’Is this how you killed Mammon?’’ Lucifer let her thoughts escape. ‘’You showed yourself as a pest?’’ She turned her head over to the girl’s side and noticed how surprised she was by that question. She laid the scissors down and sat now next to her as she kept fixing her hair.
‘’When I want something I do nasty things,'' she mumbled.
‘’I am sorry'' Lucifer let out. ‘’For calling you…many things.’’ Her cheeks flushed deep red and she hoped that the girl would not notice. The girl did not reply instantly. Letting Lucifer sink into the silence.
‘’We have been calling each other terrible things’’She let out one more harsh laugh.
Is this her way to apologize? Lucifer asked herself but she couldn't think straight. She was so close to her. Her scent was welcoming, sweet, and poisonous all the same as her eyes were looking at her like she was the most interesting creature she had met.
‘’I do not believe’’ Mara’s lips pressed to a thin line. ‘’That you are a bastard. ‘’
Lucifer nodded. ‘’It is alright. I do not know if I am truly either or not.’’
‘’Would you be ashamed if you were?’’ Mara asked in her curiosity of her answer.
Lucifer took a deep breath and faced her own hand with a smile. ‘’They both loved me. Even if the rest of the Royals gave me insults, they did not’’She hold her tears.
Mara hummed and kept cutting her hair.
‘’May I know more about you?’’ Lucifer asked her. ‘’Like, what about your parents,’’ An image of a girl with snow hair appeared in her mind, making Lucifer’s cheeks flush red. ‘’Do you have someone?’’
‘’It doesn’t matter’’ The girl finally snapped out of her daydreaming and let out a laugh. ‘’I will leave when all this ends with my things’’She explained. ‘’No need to be close.’’
Right. Lucifer gulped and looked down ashamed. Nothing would last forever. She would find the truth about it. She would hate her. She could do anything to her and it would have been Lucifer’s fault.
Snap out of it.
Lucifer’s eyes fell on Mara’s scar again.
‘’How it happened?’’ She finally asked a question that she always wished for an answer to.
Her lashes almost closed her crimson eyes and kept grilling as she pushed one lock behind her ear.
‘’Just like I said, nasty things.'' So much pain behind the words.
‘’But what about you?’’ She asked them with a gentle tone. ‘’What do you want?’’
Live peacefully? I can’t, no more. Nothing like that. Justice and power. Revenge.
Her eyes burned like two flames. As she looked up at the girl.
‘’I want to make her pay.’’She let poison spit out of her lips.
‘’Don’t talk about it'' Lucifer pointed her finger at Ukko as she walked out of the room with Mara. He immediately caught off his excitement with the rest looking back at the broken mirror. Lucifer rolled her eyes and checked herself at one more mirror closer to her, right on the wall. Mara had caught her nape but they were looking more free than they could have ever been.
‘’I will help.’’Lucifer faced Hephaestus who had papers all over the table. She would fight, she would follow. Not for Hestia, not for innocents, not for the rest of souls she had seen fall. But for herself. For everything and for nothing.
Hephaestus’ eyes lit up and looked at everyone else and then at her. ‘’Are you sure?’’ They frowned hesitantly.
‘’What do you want me to do?’’ The Royal asked the Phoenix holder.
