Chapter Three
The Darkness
A mild October day.
A man.
A girl.
Destined for marriage.
Why did you have to take that pathway, young man? Why?
The Pain.
The Suffering.
The Darkness. My god the darkness.
Flashback
The day was a beautiful October day, more specifically October 30th, with the sun shining and a gentle breeze blowing. Edward and Olivia were taking a leisurely walk along the beach, enjoying the sound of the waves and each other's company.
But their perfect day was about to take a turn for the worse. As they walked home, they took a quiet and beautiful pathway that was known to be safe.
However, their peace was shattered by the sound of three men making inappropriate comments towards them. Edward tried to ignore their comments and kept walking, hoping that they would go away.
However, the three men had other intentions.
BANG!
The bullet went into the back of Edward’s head and out his left eye.
Edward fell to the ground, still breathing but stuck in place. Olivia was shocked and frozen in place, unable to comprehend what had just happened. The quiet and beautiful pathway was now a scene of chaos and horror.
“Close your eyes, boy. You don’t want to see this.” Those were the first words the darkness said to Edward
But Edward couldn’t close his eyes, he lay there in pain, anger, and sadness. Unable to save Olivia from what Thin Boy, Party Boy, and B Dawg were doing to her.
Present Day – October 30th. Devil’s night
Edward and the darkness were sitting inside the old, abandoned house having a conversation.
“You know something boy I never understood your fascination of this house. What is it that you love about this place? The broken windows? The rotten floorboards? The horrific smell? Just what is it you like about this place?”
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Edward who wasn’t looking at the darkness was caressing the necklace that he’d been keeping hold of.
“We lived here.”
“I have another question boy. What are you going to do once you have your revenge?”
“Something that should have happened to me on the night. I should have died alongside her. But I never understood why I was kept alive and how I don’t feel any pain, but now I know you’re the one. You’re the one that kept me alive on that day and you’re the one who made me feel this sense of revenge. So let me ask you something. Would you stop me from reuniting with Olivia?”
There was a brief pause in the conversation.
“If it wasn’t for me boy, you wouldn’t be able to have your revenge. If it wasn’t for me, you would have been killed by those two thugs last night. Enough of this bickering boy. You have people to kill.”
The darkness disappeared in thin air leaving Edward all alone.
With the necklace still in his hand, he proceeded to put it around his neck, but before he left the house for one last time.
Edward decided to set the house on fire destroying all the memories that the two shared in that house.
Walking away from the now-burning house. Edward has his eyes set on one man.
Thin Boy.
Edward stood outside a tall building with a large neon sign that read "Club Ecstasy." He knew that this was where Thin Boy and his gang hung out. As he approached the entrance, the darkness whispered, "The front door is open. You could walk in and start firing at everyone you see."
Edward looked up at the building and noticed an open window. "Do you think that's where Thin Boy is?" The darkness asked.
Edward slipped into the shadows of the alley and made his way towards the open window. As he drew near the window, he caught a glimpse of Thin Boy, the man who had caused him so much pain, shutting it.
Edward saw this as the perfect opportunity to announce his arrival. He took a deep breath, readying himself for what was to come. With his heart pounding in his chest, he readied himself and began running full speed towards the window, crashing through it with a loud thud.
SMASH!
Thin Boy who was lying back in his poorly made bed got up and grabbed his gun.
“Here Thin Boyyy.” Edward said it creepily.
“The fuck?”
The darkness appeared behind Edward and made a good comment about Thin Boy’s condition.
“Look. Needles. He's nothing but a junkie, he’ll kill himself sooner or later by taking this shit. No point wasting a bullet on him boy.”
Edward ignored the darkness’s comment and got close to Thin Boy, placing his head on the end of Thin Boy’s gun barrel.
“You're seriously fucked up. You looked in the mirror recently”
"Take your shot Thin Boy. You got me where you want me.” Edward responded with.
BANG!
“HA-HA. He shoots. He scores. Ha-ha-ha?”
Edward turned around clenching his forehead. Only to reveal where the bullet hole should be is now gone.
Edward began laughing maniacally.
“Jesus Christ.” Thin Boy said shocked that Edward was still standing.
“Jesus Christ. Stop me if you heard this one. Jesus Christ walks into a hotel. He hands the innkeeper three nails and says. Can you put me up for the night?”
Edward draws out his gun and fires two shots hitting Thin Boy in the leg.
BANG! BANG!
Holding on to his leg now spewing out blood, Edward began looking around the room collecting needles lying around the floor. And started impaling them into Thin Boy’s chest one at a time, each one deadlier than the other.
Once finished Thin Boy’s chest was covered with blood and needles. But Edward wasn’t done he wanted to send a message to the rest telling them that death was coming.
He grabbed one of the needles out of Thin Boy’s chest and wrote on a piece of paper.
“Now you’ll understand my pain Mother Fucker”
Now finished with Thin Boy, Edward left the room.
“One down. Two to go.”
