Chapter One The Pain

Chapter One The Pain

The story takes place on a cold, dark, and wet October night. The rain was pouring heavily, filling the streets with water, and the sky was dark as if the sun had never existed. The night was quiet, with only the sound of raindrops hitting the ground and distant thunder rumbling in the distance. Amidst the coldness and quietness, there was a house, abandoned and left to decay.

The door was smashed to pieces, and the window was destroyed, shattered into small pieces. The wooden floorboards were rotten, and broken glass covered them. The air was filled with a horrid stench of mold and rot that would pierce your nose like a rusty knife to the stomach. It was a scene of pure destruction.

Inside the house, there was a man, standing by the broken window, muttering to himself. He was only wearing a pair of trousers, and his hair was a mess. His eyes were wide open, showing his left eye color wasn't the same as his right eye, and his face was covered in rainwater.

“The pain, the suffering, and the darkness. My god, the darkness. They will pay! All of them will pay for what they have done!” he muttered, his voice barely audible.

Suddenly, the man started laughing uncontrollably, showing that the man he once was, is now gone, and in his place, a monster had taken over. It was the kind of monster that you hear about in stories, the kind that parents tell their children to scare them from wandering the streets at night.

“Haha…HA-HA. HA-HA,” he laughed, punching the wall and cutting his hand in the process.

He then proceeded to open a box that was lying on the floor and took out a black shirt and a black leather jacket, which he put on. Looking back inside the box, he saw a necklace of a heart. The strange man began holding the necklace tightly to his chest, showing that this necklace was important to him.

Now dressed, the stranger left the house, wandering the dark streets of the night, his destination unknown.

Chapter One

The Pain

A mild October day.

A man.

A girl.

Destined for marriage.

Why did you have to take that pathway, young man? Why?

The Pain.

The Suffering.

The Darkness. My god the darkness.

The clock struck 10, and the leaves rustled in the wind as darkness began to descend upon the city. The rain came down hard, and amidst the deluge was the strange man standing in an alleyway. He watched as two men tried to seduce a woman into something she did not want to be a part of.

"Come on, baby. You know you want to," one of the men said, his voice dripping with sleaze.

"We're probably the best-looking mother fuckers in this city," said the other, a smug grin on his face.

The woman was frightened and in desperate need of help. Just then, the strange man felt a presence inside him - a darkness that seemed to embody all the pain and suffering he had ever experienced.

"A damsel in distress needing saving, ha-ha. A shame what's about to happen to her," the darkness said, looking at the strange man who hadn't taken his eyes off the woman.

"Oh, the boy thinks he could save her. Please don't make me laugh," the darkness continued, getting right up in the strange man's face.

"You are nothing but a coward who couldn't even save his childhood sweetheart, ha-ha," the darkness taunted.

The strange man finally responded, "It's basterds like them who made me this way. Made me feel this pain and is the reason you even exist."

"And it's people like them who you can't get out of your mind," the darkness replied.

The woman began to scream, and the darkness said excitedly, "Now, this should get interesting." The two continued to watch, waiting to see what would happen next.

BANG! BANG!

The woman dropped to the floor dead. The blood from her body began to flow into the already-formed puddles on the ground.

"Nice work boy. You just let her die. Just like what happened to poor Olivia"

The strange man clenched his right fist and swung it towards the personification of the darkness, but his hand went through the head and into the brick wall creating a loud thud sound.

"Haha, the boy still can't restrain his emotions when someone brings up his precious Olivia."

The two men heard the thudding sound. They began approaching to investigate the noise.

“Who’s there?” One said holding his knife tight in his hand.

“You didn’t see anything! Right?” The other said tightly holding his revolver with his finger ready on the trigger.

The strange man makes his appearance known.

“Thin Boy, Party Boy, B Dawg. Where can I find them.”

The two thugs were shaking uncontrollably. One tried to stab the strange man but missed, allowing the stranger to take the knife and impale him in the back lifting him off the ground.

His blood poured down the blade onto his hand before splashing on the floor.

His friend began firing his revolver uncontrollably at the stranger, five of the six shots missed him with the sixth shot hitting him in the shoulder not affecting him in the slightest.

“That... Wasn’t... Nice...” The stranger threw the knife at the thug in retaliation, entering his hand and restraining him to the wall. “I’ll repeat what I said. Thin Boy, Party Boy, B Dawg. Where can I find them.”

“Look, man. I don’t even know what you're talking about.”

The stranger knew he was lying and started digging the knife deeper and deeper causing the thug to scream out in pain.

“Gerald will know. Ask Gerald.”

The stranger removes the knife from the thug’s hand. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?” The remaining thug started pleading with the stranger to kill him.

The stranger looked down on the thug and proceeded to say. “Why. I already consider you one among the dead.” The stranger started to walk away into the dark of the night with the information he needed to act his vengeance.
