When I woke up the first thing I saw was hazel. More specifically, it was a pair of hazel eyes. A boy about my age with red hair and hazel eyes was staring at me. Creepy!
"You're finally awake!" said the boy.
Is this a dream? Maybe I should go back to sleep…
The boy pulled my hair when he saw me close my eyes again.
"Don't close your eyes! You've already slept for long enough!" said the boy.
“Ow!” My hair is so silky and beautiful, and yet this bastard is pulling on it within minutes of our first meeting?!
I knew it wasn't a dream, but can't things go easily just for once? I opened my eyes and sat up.
I was sleeping in a large bed with pink bed sheets, a pink canopy over my head, and was surrounded by three pink walls, with the last wall made of glass. I could see the blue sky along with a few buildings a bit shorter than the one I was currently in, so I must be placed on a high floor. But, why pink? Nevermind...
The room was also very large, about the size of my classroom. There were a few accent tables and dressers placed here and there. The room seemed to be connected to two doors, one of which I guessed would be the entrance to this room, and the other would most likely be the bathroom. All in all, the room was pretty empty, with very few items to match the large amount of space.
I looked to myself and saw that I was wearing a hospital gown along with an IV drip attached to my arm. The boy was sitting in a chair next to the bed. Even though I’m wearing a hospital gown, this is clearly not a hospital, and this boy is certainly not a nurse.
“My father is busy right now, so he'll come later. My name is Akira Sato,” said the boy.
Akira Sato?! I barely remembered a fragment of my previous life’s memories concerning this world, yet when I wake up I already encounter one of Este’s love interests?! This development is too fast!
Calm down, Sia… For now I’ll ask a few questions to get a basic understanding of what happened since I passed out. If I remember correctly, I passed out after Misonoo-sensei came to save us.
Grumble
But first, food.
"Can I eat something? I'm hungry."
"Fine. Food should be here in a second," said the boy as he walked over to a spot next to the bed. There was a keypad looking thing on the wall, and he pressed a few buttons. As soon as he was done he sat in the same chair as before.
“Where am I exactly?” I asked.
“This is the Magic Organization's HQ. The top floors also serve as private rooms, so right now you are on the 60th floor."
Now that I think about it, the game did introduce Akira as the son of the Magic Organization’s leader. That explains why Akira would be here and why he said his father would come soon. Why would someone as important as his father want to see me? Akira probably wouldn’t know. I’ll ask his father later.
"Why am I here? Shouldn't I be in a hospital?" I asked.
"Don't ask me questions I don't know the answer to, stupid!"
No, how would I know what answers you do and don't know…
But he’s only a kid. This much immaturity should be expected.
"How long have I been sleeping?"
"One week. Seriously, how can someone sleep for this long? You'd better be thankful I was keeping watch of you!"
Thankful? You nearly gave me a heart attack… How would you feel if the first thing you see when you open your eyes is someone staring at you?
"...Were you staring at me the whole time like earlier?" It’s a weird question to ask, but I was curious.
"Hah?! Who do you think you are?! Are you stupid?!"
It’s great that he wasn’t staring at me the whole time like some kind of creeper, but do you have to be so mean? Even as a child, there's no hope for you...
"Then what about my mother? Or my friends?" Mother must be worried about me. I wonder what happened to Este. I want to see for myself if she’s okay. There’s also pink-ringlets and her followers, but….. Oh whatever, who cares about them.
"As if people that low ranking could enter our HQ!" he said as if it were a matter of fact, with his arms crossed.
Now, what to do?
* Punch him
* Punch him
* Punch him
Oops. I need to calm down... I'm starting to think of this as a game.
"Then how long until your father gets here?" I’m getting nothing from this kid. His father should have all the answers to my questions.
"You know, my father is a very busy person, unlike you who sleeps for a week!"
...After I'm done here I never want to see him again. Why is it that the only men I know are either hopeless idiots or uncivilized jerks?
"Then what do we do while we wait for your father?"
"I don't know. Just wait here silently. You can do that, can’t you?"
Is he testing my patience?
“But that’s boring. Why don’t we play something?” I asked. Even if he’s a rude brat, I’d rather play with him than do nothing while I wait. I can recollect my thoughts later.
“How could you expect me to play with some commoner like you!”
Before I knew it, anger marks were appearing on my forehead. I was never one to smile that much, but this guy stepped over the boundaries.
"Oh really? Aren't you being childish? I'm sure someone as amazing as your father would be disappointed that his son couldn't even keep someone like me company." He seems to respect his father. I’m sure if I use that to my advantage, I could trick him into playing with me.
"Wh-what!!"
He got a little mad, but there wasn’t a big reaction. Not enough, huh... then one more push.
"Not only that, but you’re also rude.” The way he answers my questions is too arrogant. I’m pretty sure I’m the guest here. Does he not know the concept of hospitality?
He balled up his fists, which were turning red from the pressure.
"And hotheaded,” I continued. He gets mad way too easily. Someone who gets mad easily can’t be considered a man. Well, he’s still a kid though.
"And simpleminded," I added. He stood up from his seat.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
"Y-you... Okay fine, what do you want to play?!" he asked.
I win. To give in to harmless threats like these, he really is a simple man.
"Let's play house." It was the only thing I could think of on the spot. Sure I could’ve asked him to get us a board game, but I play enough of those with Fuyukawa-sensei.
"House?!" he exclaimed. Oh, are you really that against it? You’re not allowed to disobey.
Knock-knock
"The food you ordered earlier is ready!" said a feminine voice. Judging from the sound of it, she’s probably between the ages of twenty to forty.
The food gave me a great idea.
"Perfect! We could use the food as we play! It's a win-win situation!" I said. What could be better than playing and eating at the same time? It’s also a perfect chance to torture Akira.
I got off the bed and took the IV drip with me to sit at one of the small tables. I sat in a seiza position, and the table came up to about my chest. The carpet was unexpectedly comfortable. Is that cotton?
"Hurry up and open the door. You're making other person wait," I said.
"What?! Why are you the one ordering me?!"
"Ah... So mean... What will your father think of this..." I started to bring out my crocodile tears. Since I’m a child, it works perfectly!
He reluctantly opened the door. The woman on the other side of the door wore a maid’s outfit and held a tray with food and utensils.
"Ah, for young Sato-sama to be the one opening the door is truly admirable. Today's dish is potato gratin,” said the maid.
"Don't speak. Take it to that table over there." He pointed to the table I was sitting at.
The maid walked over to me, but before she could put the tray down I stopped her.
"Stop,” I said.
"Eh?!" The maid was surprised. I won’t let you take my fun away!
"What?! You were hungry weren't you?!" asked Akira.
"Walk back outside the room and hand the tray to Akira,” I told her.
"B-but that is..." The maid was unsure of what to do. On one side was a patient who didn’t want her to do her job, and on the other was the son of the Organization’s leader.
Time to start acting.
"For Aki-kun not to be the one to bring my dish to me… How incredibly lonely…” I said.
"I apologize, but I can’t just... Sato-sama is..." the maid stuttered.
"Just bring the dish over here! I'll do it!" He finally gave up.
Sia-sama strikes again! That’s two points for me and none for you~
"U-understood." The maid turned around and headed towards the door.
The only reason he's like this is because everyone around him treats him too highly. He needs to be taught his lesson.
The maid handed the tray to Akira once she was outside the room. Akira took the tray, closed the door, and proceeded to walk towards me.
He set the tray on the table and sat on the other side of where I was sitting. That won’t do, you know.
"For Aki-kun to not sit next to me… how incredibly lonely..." This time he got up from where he was sitting and sat next to me without arguing, though he did have his signature knitted eyebrows.
If you get so mad then you'll get wrinkles on your forehead~
When he sat next to me he crossed his legs. I’ll instill some manners into him.
"Oh, how rude. Since when did Aki-kun have no manners? For him to not sit in a seiza position..."
"Isn't that going too far?!"
"I’ll have to tell your father about your manners. I prefer the kind, mannerly Aki-kun,” I said.
He sat in a seiza position. This was going a little too far, but I'll never forget the pain you gave me in my previous life. Do you know how many times I had to start over for your route? For someone as horrible as you?
"Aki-kun, won’t you feed me?” I asked. This is too fun. I wonder how far I can use his father to my advantage.
"Don't be stupid! Why do I have to feed you?"
"Even though you’re my husband... Shouldn't you be sad for your pitiful wife who is injured?" I’m a pretty good actor. My talents scare me… could it be that I’m too perfect?
"Your hands are fine! And why are we married?!" It’s true, my hands were fine. I wasn’t actually injured, but how could I miss this chance?
"Ah, how mean... The meanest husband in existence… To forget about our marriage day… Don’t you remember? The beautiful sound of the wedding bells and my flowing white dress?"
He growled at me before taking the spoon on the tray and poking into the gratin. The potato layer broke down into the soup, which flowed out of its shell. When he finished breaking down the potato layer, he scooped up some of the gratin into the spoon and brought it towards my mouth.
"That's wrong. You have to put your other hand under the spoon so that none of it spills on me, and you have to blow on it so that the food doesn’t burn my tongue."
He unwillingly blew on the soup and put his other hand under the spoon before bringing it towards my mouth again. Good. Looks like he’s learning.
"Ah~" I held my mouth open and waited for him to feed me. The food went into my mouth and my taste buds were assaulted by gratin. Mmm~. As expected of an experienced chef. The outer layer potato has this really nice crunch to it and the soup brings another layer to it.
When I continued to eat, the potato layer got soggy from the soup. It wasn’t gross, and was a nice change compared to eating the same thing and getting bored of it quickly. I finished eating and helped myself to the glass of cold water placed on the tray. Food is okay, but water is dangerous. Who knows what would happen. He could spill the water on me or throw it at me and say it was an accident.
"Delicious~ Thank you, Aki-kun." I waited for his response. He has only been objecting and hasn’t played his husband role once. What will he say?
"A-anything for my wife."
"Wife? When did you stop calling me Sia-chan? Are you sick?"
I let my forehead come into contact with his forehead which brought us closer, with a few centimeters between us.
His cheeks turned red. Heh~ Even if he's annoying, he's still has his cute side.
He put his hands on my shoulders and pushed me away.
"I-I'm not sick, Sia-chan."
This guy... I think I'll have fun with him.
