CHAPTER 244 THE ONLY MEMORIAL
Nina Morrison holds the phone, listening to the hollow beeps. Her heart floats up and down, with sour
mixed with sweet. After a while, she finds herself standing by the window for nearly half an hour.
There is a terrible hole in her heart. Her fingers slide on the phone’s screen. She finds the phone
number of Lucien Gray. Hesitatingly, she doesn’t dare to dial the number.
What could she say if she calls? Say thank you? And then?
He’s about to get engaged to Jasmine Harris. On his emotional scales, she is, after all, less than
Jasmine Harris. Belonging to .
There is no need!
Nina Morrison throws her phone away. Her heart is so upset like a field of weeds, she sits on the sofa,
there is him on the sofa. She walks in the kitchen, there is him in the kitchen. She lies on the bed, and
there is him on the bed!
Lucien Gray is everywhere, occupying all her minds.
Nina Morrison clutches her head crazily. If days keep going like this, she’s going crazy.
Nina Morrison grabs her bag and rushes out the door. She needs to breathe some different air!
Outside the apartment is a busy shopping street. Nina Morrison is going to get something to eat.
The phone rings, Nina Morrison’s heart neats. She opens her bag and takes out the phone.
It’s Troy Roger. Being disappointed, Nina Morrison smiles anyway and answers the phone, “Troy...Oh,
no, Troy Roger, what’s up?”
“Nina, I’m on XX Road of Cagliari. Would it be convenient for you to come and see me?”
At a restaurant on XX road, Troy Roger and Nina Morrison sit opposite each other.
“Nina, I’m sorry. Abby ...She asks someone against you. I doesn’t know it until this morning.” Troy
Roger wrestles with the words.
His amber eyes, with pain and embarrassment, hide from Nina Morrison’s vision.
Nina Morrison shakes her head, only to find she doesn’t know what to say.
After a long pause, she asks softly, “Troy Roger, do you love her? Do you love Abby Lewis?”
It is as if Troy Roger has been burned by coals, and his eyes shake, “Nina, you know exactly who I
love.”
“Troy Roger, you...” Nina Morrison is about to speak when Troy Roger stops her with a wave of his
hand, “Nina, Please let me finish.”
He keeps silent for a moment before slowly opens his mouth, “Abby and I have known each other for
ten years, and she is my son’s mother .I would be disrespectful to her if I say I don’t love her. But I can’t
deceive myself to say that I really have the affection which is between men and women for her. I love
Abby, but it is the love between the family.”
Nina Morrison looks up at Troy Roger, her eyes are wet with tears. Her Troy, has always been a
gentleman, so gentle, so affectionate, never lets her down.
If he tells Nina Morrison that he doesn’t love Abby Lewis, she’ll be devastated.
“Troy Roger, I don't know Abby Lewis, so I can’t say for sure what kind of person she is. But I’m sure of
one thing. She loves you very much. She loves you very, very much.” Nina Morrison holds back tears
and smiles as she looks at Troy Roger, “As an onlooker, I have no position to comment on your
feelings. I only want to say something from the bottom of my heart: Cherish the present one.”
Troy Roger also looks at Nina Morrison, his eyes are filled with pain. “Nina, I know what you mean.”
He understands what she means.
She couldn’t give him the love he wants. Her heart has never really rested on him.
Nina Morrison raises a smile that pretends to be relaxed, “Troy Roger, in the future, if there is no need,
we would better don’t see each other anymore. It will be good for both you and me.”
If he still has feelings for her, but she deliberately pretends not to know, and enjoy a man’s care and
love for her comfortably, she really can’t do that. That’s not fair to Abby Lewis.
Troy Roger lowers his eyes and keeps silent for a moment, then he heads up and looks at Nina
Morrison, “Fine.”
Mutual help in humble circumstances is no better that forget each other in the lakes and rivers.
They can’t be lovers, nor can they be friends. As long as he loves her, he would never be able to say
“we are friends” frankly.
After a meal in silence, Nina Morrison’s heart is blocked badly. They walk out of the restaurant and look
at the stream of people in the street. Nina Morrison’s eyes get sour again.
It’s time to say goodbye. They live separately in two cities without any overlap in their work, maybe this
is the last time to see each other.
“Nina, I heard from Abby about Lucien Gray.” Troy Roger says suddenly.
“I'm sorry. I don’t know he would do that to her. I have no idea.”
Troy Roger shakes head, “Abby acts wrongly first. I don’t blame him. Nina, I’m bringing this up just to
admit the fact that I was wrong. I thought Lucien Gray only had a crush on you, and now I know. He is
sincere to you. Nina, you let me cherish the present person, I also want to send you the same
sentence.”
Nina Morrison shakes her head with a wry smile, “He and I can’t go back. He’s going to get engaged to
Jasmine Harris.”
Troy Roger says calmly. “I’ve heard about it. The Gray Family's stock has fallen sharply in the past few
days, and since then has risen sharply. I guess there’s something else going on behind the
engagement. With Lucien Gray’s personality, there would be no engagement as a buffer. If he really
loves Jasmine Harris, he wouldn’t wait for three years to get engaged.”
“What do you mean?” Nina Morrison doesn’t totally understand. She needs confirmation from Troy
Roger to calm her confused mind.
Troy Roger laughs at himself, “Ever since the day that I met you, I’ve been collecting a lot of
information about Lucien Gray. I know something about his relationship with Jasmine Harris and with
you.”
Ah...Nina Morrison’s eyes wide in surprise. Troy, when did you get so scheming?
“Nina, I doesn’t mean to pry into your privacy. But...I can’t help knowing about your present life.” Troy
Roger hastens to explain, “From the information I’ve received, Lucien Gray's engagement should have
been a ploy to delay and stabilize Harris’s Family. Lucien Gray wouldn’t marry a woman he doesn’t
love!”
Nina Morrison looks at Troy Roger feelingly.
This man really gives all his heart to her. His heart is so pure and unselfish and there is not a speck of
dirt or dust on it.
Nina Morrison holds out her arm, “Troy, I know. Thank you!”
Just one last hug. This is the only memorial of this life.
Troy Roger hesitates, he approaches her and holds around her tightly. Tears follow from their eyes at
the same time, light and heavy.
