Prologue – How Far I've Come

In a late spring midnight, the old tyrant sat on top of a mountain of corpses. With a full bright moon high above his head, his metallic ashen hair was flickering in the nights wind like a beacon. His face tranquil but missing it's usual confidence. His face contained the wrinkles that come with old age but still showed vigour not expected of someone his age. Even in his old age, he was strikingly handsome. His body was motionless, as if it was part of nature. His eyes lifeless but contained understanding as they pierced the heavens. This gave the man an aura of timelessness that was coming to an end.

The corpses under the mans legs all fresh, bloodied, missing limbs, heads, and some so disfigured that they could only be a mix of human meat, blood, entrails and body parts. The scarlet blood running off the bodies was enough to fill a lake. The smell of blood was so copious that any predator knew to stay away, for the only fate that awaits them of their curiosity is death. The corpses underneath him were composed of men, women, and some who could barely be called such. Yet the man continued to leer the heavens, as if everything around him didn't matter.

“The heavens are truly unfair. Damn the heavens!” Said the old man as his eyes started misting.

“I had love, family, and my happiness taken away from me. But I had my intelligence and compassion! I had spent my entire life helping my fellow people! I have spent 200 years improving countless techniques, and giving them away for free! I killed many clans which exploited fellow humans, and abused their power for greed! I opened many minds with the manuals I have written. I had even used the last of my life to destroy the parasitic Mu Clan. I know humanity will prosper, and they may even overtake the King Demonic Beasts that have been ruling over the planet. But my fellow people will never reach what I am currently seeing.”

The intelligent, loving tyrant continued to observe the heavens, where he saw countless beings! Some with bodies bigger than worlds, yet some minuscule in comparison, but all with Cultivations beyond his comprehension! They could only be described as Gods. He saw worlds, stretched across the night sky, knowing that they were orders of magnitude larger than anything he has ever seen before!

He saw that in certain parts of the sky, there was no killing. The majestic beings would fight, with God-like techniques and martial arts, but would wager items before they did so. Other parts of the night sky however, were a blood bath! He saw heavenly weapons and armour, that made his look like paper and wood. He saw Pills, elixirs and food, some which made him feel like he had been eating dirt his entire life. He saw levels of alchemy he never thought possible, with flames he thought could almost burn him across the vast distance! He accepted the information of what he saw, most of which, he could not yet understand, yet knew that this shook his soul, and challenged everything he ever thought possible. Yet he continued watching, taking in everything that he possibly could, absorbing it onto his soul.

His face no longer tranquil, but going through many emotions.

Being amazed at the glamour of some of the worlds and entities, and feeling utterly terrified and excited seeing the battles and destruction being caused at an unimaginable magnitude by the cultivators, feeling giddy like a child watching new techniques and martial arts being used by beings of unimaginable power. He was utterly in awe, seeing the different Laws of the world and how they operated at different scales. He was thankful, proud yet depressed that his breakthrough in “Information Gatherer” was what allowed him to experience all that he had not known in his final moments and not a flashback of his memories, what people usually experience at the times of their death, because he knew his memories could not amount to a single iota to what he was experiencing.

So the old man continued to watch the heavens, for what seemed like an eternity, but watched for only 30 minutes, before he was at the threshold of his death. The old man knew this, so he did what he has always done, and that was to challenge himself and the see the limit of his power. He gazed at the farthest point he could see, a patch of blurry space that seemed to hold no regards to the Laws of the world and perceived to be separate from the heavens. He somehow comprehended that there was more to this patch of blurry space than what he saw. So he focused, with all of his mind and energy, to perceived what was inside this space. And that was when he sensed something in his mind break. This not only gave him a new level of focus, but took all of his energy, that was used to sustain his body and last specs of his life, into his last wish and goal, to sense what was on the the other side of this space.

It was at that moment, using everything he had, he broke through and saw what was on the other side of blurry space. What meet him was an image of a young women, but he was not sure. It was as if the heavens would not let him directly see her with his eyes. But he could tell that she was a celestial beauty, and that she had her eyes closed. So he started to look at her again, starting from her feet, making his way up her legs, onto her stomach, and finally to her face. That's when the girl opened her eyes, and beam directly at him. That was when he finally saw something he could see clearly, her eyes.

A shiver went through him. Her bright, celestial pearls contained infinite beauty, love, intelligence and loneliness. He wanted to look away, because he didn't feel like he deserved to gaze on such a being. But he couldn't, he was drawn in to her eyes. Questions came into his mind. How does a being with infinite intelligence view the universe? With her infinite beauty and love, how could she possibly be lonely? Why was she alone in this blurry space? Even though he was about to die, he was infinitely content that he saw her miraculous eyes in his final moments. In his mind, seeing her eyes was worth more than seeing the heavens. If he had a choice, he could stare at them for all eternity, and wished to do so.

Her eyes locked onto his, across the vast distance, seemly shocked that someone was looking at her. Not because she was naked, no, because she didn't think it was possible. It was at this moment however, the old mans world lost all colour, and he released his final breath. His last thought was that of regret of not being able with stare at those eyes for an eternity, and not being able to join those Gods, reaching for the peak of cultivation. If someone were to describe how he looked at the moment however, they would say that on top of a mountain of corpses, an old man sat with his body full of holes, bleeding all over, but his bright eyes open, with a face that looked like a child who just fell in love for the first time.
